    I'm not a gutter installer, but I've done lots of fine granite work, and now I'd like to transition into gutter installation. You don't have to tack the middle of the gutter two times if you have made a mark on the facia where your ladder is and marked the gutter at the same distance, then you can match those two lines and don't have to go down to check if the gutter is aligned on both ends and unscrewing to aligning the ends... Otherwise, I'm getting great value from your videos. Thank you very much!

    I make an alignment mark on the gutter and the fascia near the center ladder allowing for any run by at the ends. That way you don’t have to go down and eyeball check it and maybe shift it.

    Not to bad of a install / I'm a Licenced Professional and I will always tell everone to install your gutter UNDER the drip edge, just do it right the first time / also not sure what State it's in / but if it snows where the gutters are the gutters on a metal roof should be installed a bit lower so the sliding snow will not take off your gutters / the snow that slides off a metal roof is hundreds if not thousands of pounds and if the gutters are to high the snow WILL rip the gutters off. All and all / not to bad.

    Mark the gutter at the half way point and it will be balanced.
    On K-style roll the gutter towards the face the bends will add rigidity less likely to roll on you.
    The back of that gutter should be sealed the wayer may roll back and get behind the gutter may rot out the fascia.

    Can anyone tell me why you are not extending the end of the gutter to the very outside edge of the roofing drip edge? They are short on my house as well and I'm getting tired of the rain dripping off of the corners, gradually digging a hole near the foundation. I've been cursing whoever installed it since it seems to me that you should have the gutters catching everything that comes off the roof from end to end. My roof is a typical gable roof with asphalt shingles - not one of these metal roofs.

    Is it better to hang the gutter lower so that if you extended the pitch of the roof with an imaginary line it would be just above the top of the gutter? I have seen a couple people say that sliding snow and ice can rip a gutter off so I was curious on your thoughts.

      On a metal roof, ice can build up and slide down with a lot of force, there are L brackets called sno-brakes that stop the ice and snow from crashing. If you hang the gutter low the ice will miss it, but land on your car...or your head. get snow brakes if you have a metal roof. This old house should know all roofs are not the same pitch...hang one low on an A frame lol.

    Seems like the high end of this gutter would catch sliding roof snow and possibly get pulled loose or bent and lose it's slope.

    • @JohnDoe-td2wz
      @JohnDoe-td2wz 2 роки тому +3

      That’s got to be the dumbest thing I’ve heard yet in a comment. How the hell are the tabs going to fold up and close when you have a screw from the elbow into the tab. And for your cheap remark look up how much a outlet punch cost is. A tool designed specifically for that purpose.

    • @rock4891
      @rock4891 2 роки тому

      The downspout punch has been used for over 50 years and is still used to this day by most Professionals / it works great / the tabs do not break nor does much get caught on them and thay do not fold up ( EVER ) / if you install everyday like I do / it's a much faster way to go and you do not have to buy outlet cups

    • @robertg6899
      @robertg6899 2 роки тому

      Real installers use a rectangular punch with a rectangular outlet, using the folding tabs doesn't make them fold in but the gutter will end up tearing if you have a clog in the downspout then live in an area it freezes. Those tabs do rip often, use the rectangular punch with an outlet, better seal.
