- BangShift.com is proud to present Brian Lohnes' driving impressions of the 2012 Buick Regal GS with it's 270 horsepower, 295 lb ft of torque, Ecotec backed by a 6 Speed manual transmission. This thing is the coolest Sport Sedan around and completely BangShift Approved.
I can't believe that they offered it with a 6 speed manual, it's astonishing to me. You see most new cars especially a Buick and you assume they are automatic but this caught me off guard, good on them. I'm 19 so a lot younger than the targeted audience but I'd love to own one of these. Be a great practical, comfortable, fun car to have. maybe I'll own a nice used one one day.
Aspiring to Inspire 19 or 20 inch rims too and almost 300 lb ft. of torque! Everyone once in a while, Buick makes a powerful fun car....but this is really an Opel Insignia OPC from Germany. Still have a couple Buick bits and It's still a GM.
Huge credit to Buick for a 6 speed manual.
But they should have made it RWD and stuffed in the Cadillac CTS V engine with a 50-80 horsepower reduction. I love the exterior styling on this car.
No, not another LS
The manual allows you to ride out that turbo boost longer than an automatic will allow you to.
this car is awesome!!! I have a 2012 GS with a 6 speed Manual transmission and I am 22 years old. it is very fun, sporty and the power is very good. I love that I don't see them very often as well. great car.
Lucky you, man. I'm glad you're having fun with your car. For the time being, I have a Buick lesabre from 2003. Hopefully one day I have the newest Regal :-)
Brandon Trongale yea mommy and daddy must love you. do they make payments too.hahaha
How does it handle?
Adrian Nava He should have used the term "we" as in we own it because it's technically Mommy and Daddy's car which they let him use.
A manual Buick...Awesome! the Original Buick Grand National and Regal type-T should have been offered with manual gear box.
If you think about it, it is like the modern Grand National
This car is great competition to the Acura TSX. It looks better its faster, and its European. If I had the money i would absolutely buy one.
For those of you who don't know the real specs. they're 259 hp and 295 ft-lbs of torque. No one is suppose to round the specs of a car.
+Landon Thomas torque is correct but the 2012 makes 270 hp
The newer models have a slightly different engine. these do make 270hp. The newer models make 259.
When did this change happen?
Landon Thomas Sorry to reply so late lol but I believe 2014 was the change.
Landon when they changed from the rear turbo LHU engine to the newer LTG front turbo mounted engine it lost 10hp for some reason. The LHU engine is stronger in my opinion
I know!!! I am so mad!!! The interior is much better though along with the exterior. . .
This is like a coffee talk review. Drive the pos and show us what it can do.
Its a matte of marketing acumen. Completly abandoning the signature brand visage is risky and would immediately compromise the brand equity. THis is why KFC wont take the old white man off their branding - it can be called outdated but it has lasted as a symbol of value to consumers. The positive brand recognition is fat too high to relinquish. Buick is doing a masteful job of manintain its old brand value with updating the actual products to create new equity among a different market segment.
Why front wheel drive! That invalidates it;)
Still handles pretty good
Miladystyles, you need to work on grammar, punctuation, and drop the abbreviated spelling when typing for the public. You come off like an idiot otherwise.
then they went and fucked up and now you can only get it in an automatic :(
Regal gs is AWD, no?
You can get it in either.
Yeah i realized this later, forgot i even commented. Save the sticks!
@@SKATEtime41 AWD variants are only available in an automatic, sadly
Very cool car and sharp looking but to keep it "GS" they should of used an LS6 or somthn and rear wheeld it
wrong wheel drive...strike one...... four cylinders .....strike 2....government motors...strike three, yer out!
Ok guy u do not know cars how is a 4 cylinder turbo with 220 HP fast oh and don't let me forget the wonderful front wheel drive no the regal is a very bad mistake the only thing that is a plus is that its a manual. Now when they put a more manly v6 in and keep the manual and get rid of the horrible frnt wheele drive and put a Awd system in then it will be a proper sport sedan
Mi'Lady The base turbo engine only had 220hp. The GS had 270.
