    Nice job as always man I was wondering when your next "real" review was coming out lol. I always thought these were underrated as a performance car but the styling still needs some work!

    Man, this is a great car! GM isn't one of my favorite brands, but the GS turbo is one of the few cars that I really like from them. Great review!

    I've been driving the Regular T version for almost a month as a rental with 13k on it.. AWD and turbo. not the sporty trim.
    I have to say that I've fallen in love with the vehicle and am currently looking into owning the FWD manual GS model.
    This is a very big thing for me because I've hated American cars since the early 90's. This Buick completely changed my mind.
    Good job Buick!

      That's the thing, you can thank the Germans for this car. I just bought the non-turbo version a few months ago (as you can see in the pfp) and it's still a blast to drive, just not as fast and MUCH rarer. I love this car and I'm so glad Opel created this car and GM rebadged it as a Buick so we could enjoy it.

    Very nice review of a great car ! Great to have Buick letting you review it ! I did spend alot of time in the german versions of this called the Opel Insignia and even reviewed an older one, but that thing was a bare rental. Nothing like the fast OPC versions, which are I believe even more powerful than the Regal. The Opel factory is just 30 miles from where I live so I see tons of these on the road. What turned me of was the weird smelling plastics they used in them, but I haven't driven the new facelift. Maybe I should try to get one for a review :)

      Grüße aus Köln,
      Fabian.

    • @fabianb6970

      TheGetawayer Yeah, the Opel Insignia OPC comes with a 2.8 liter Turbo V6 putting out 325hp, the Buick Regal GS is equipped with a 2.0 Liter Inline 4 producing 259hp. I just realized that "Regal" means shelf in German ;D

      @TheGetawayer 9 років тому

      Fabian B. Danke , Du hast Recht, haha :D
      Ich schau mal ob ich einen OPC für einen Testbericht bekommen kann. Da ist die Optik dem Regal doch sehr nahe. In weiß fand ich den Insignia OPC immer cool. Grüsse, Guido

    I have the very same car in fwd and I can say the suspension is very impressive, it still sticks very hard and I have yet to upset the suspension in a corner, also being my 3rd fwd car I’m very happy to say there is no torque steer. They are pretty expensive new mine stickered at $45K but I bought it used and for the $17K I paid for it out the door I feel it’s pretty hard to beat

    Great review and pleasant surprise.....I was looking for 2015 Regal GS reviews and not too many online. Funny also, I was just at the NY auto show yesterday and was talking to one of the Buick reps "suggesting" that Buick should def include the 6spd manual option with the AWD.......gorgeous car in person and one of the best interiors I have ever sat in
    Again thanks for the review

    Matt, I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your reviews! You are so articulate and so well-read on the cars that you review. The GS is actually one of the cars that I have been eyeing for quite a while, since I saw it at an auto show; such an underrated car. I saw it after looking at the ATS, and I was more impressed with its interior than the ATS. People just don't know how high-quality Buick's have elevated to; actually according to Consumer Reports, they are the most reliable American automobile as well.
    If any major automotive magazine is perusing this thread, please offer Matt a position; he has a natural talent for reviewing automobiles :)

    On a recent trip I went with a 2014 Verano for a rental and was pretty impressed with the feel of the drive. My one complaint was the infotainment system was a bit complicated, although the Regal you reviewed seems to have improved on that aspect. Great review

    • @kanobeez
      @kanobeez 9 років тому +1

      miccheck11 They should make a limited run of Dark Sides When the next Star Wars movie comes out. The Grand National was a limited run and heavily associated with Lord Vader. They should at least honor that by sticking the V6 turbo and AWD. All black please.

    • @KSE828
      @KSE828 9 років тому +1

      miccheck11 The fact that this Regal GS only has a slight engine remap and a single turbo over the stock Regal is almost an insult to the original GNX. I
      agree completely. Needs twin turbo.

    This car canabalizes ATS 2.0T AWD sales. I mean seriously it is a $10k difference between the two and while the Regal has marginally less power & weaker chassis it is much larger/more useful & comes VERY well equipped.
    I want to like the ATS so much, but unless you spend more to get the 3.6 V6 it is impossible to justify.

    Pretty good review. It was cool to watch, but I do have to ask since you mention about it not having an 8spd. Why? For what reasons, other than economy (and if you're buying a $45,000 vehicle I can't see why mpg's are terribly important) are 8 gears necessary? By the time you pull out of a parking spot at the grocery store you're in fourth gear, and if you haven't driven many of those, they're enormously bothersome as they shift up and down constantly and have tons of hiccups.

    This car is beautiful. Understated yet still sporty. And those WHEELS! However, the powertrain is meh. Why not offer a proper V6? GM's 3.6 is plenty capable and would probably be a better fit for this car. If I had $45k to spend it would not be on this, even with the good looks. The problem this car has is that it doesn't really have an identity. It doesn't bring anything special to the $40,000 table.

      ChooChooTrain02 The Regal is a much bigger car, about 8 inches longer. And it's front drive vs rear drive for the ATS. Different markets for sure, but that being said you're probably right to a degree.

    I know this is an old review, but Matt could have commented on the transmission performance. Is it a slushbox, or does it shift quickly and firmly? A well made DCT is probably the sweet spot in a luxury sport sedan.

    The reason there isn't a lot of vocals from this car , is because traditional it is marketed for an older generation, so some of these people wouldn't even hear it. Yet if Buick did amplify the exhaust note there would surely be those who complained it was too loud and thus would take away from it's subtle nature.

    Would have been THE perfect family car had it been available with a manual transmission in AWD Turbo trim. Oh well...beautiful car regardless if of it being a re-badged Opel or not.

      Lajcsi Vagyok Yes, which is why I have owned 3 BMWs to date, including an E46 M3. Audi would be great too. Evos/STIs don't have the same level of everyday drive-ability and insurance in Canada for both cars is higher than my M3. Nonetheless, all great alternatives, but I just wish GM could have been smarter in their decision to lure a younger audience to the Buick brand.

    Good review! disappointed with the engine performance and sound. seems very underwhelming considering it's potential.

    For all my Buick fans, can you please explain to me why would you pick over something like a toyota avalon or something of that matter
