Steve this video to me is like an "everyday" solutions/corrections to things. Reinforces the fact that non of us are prefect. Thanks for your heart Steve.
I don't care what UA-cam analytics say, these videos where you just talk whatever comes to mind are my favorite. It's like you are talking only to me. And they sound much more sincere, natural, unscripted. Keep up the good work. We might have to keep you locked down indefinitely.
The (near) daily "hanging out with Steve in the workshop" video. I have no complaints - like this series better - and appreciate you doing it. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, this is actually one of my favorite of these videos, Steve. I love when you give updates on previous projects, as well as when you sort of have a conversation with us as you're working. These are my favorite videos you've ever done; I will be so sad when they come to an end.
The fact that you make and post these videos everyday (almost), itself is an amazing thing. I subscribed to your channel a little less than a yeae ago, when I was looking up impact driver usefulness, basic woodworking skills, etc. Then UA-cam started recommending most of your videos. And now with these uploads and the lockdown, I've watched almost all of your older videos too. Great job. With woodworking as well as workout.
I like videos that show that people sometimes don't do the thing perfectly first thing out of the dock. And then it is very helpful to see the ways people correct "mistakes." So not useless at all.
Steve WE do watch for the content but we also watch to see you. You have a way of taking things that might seem mundane, or even ordinary and you give it a twist. You are not self aggrandizing. You are a regular guy sharing your ideas and techniques with other regular guys and gals.
Hi Steve, Just want to let you know how much I enjoy and look forward to your posts. I've been a WWMM disciple for several years now and have carefully viewed ALL of your videos -- even the Hallowe'en episodes. While I was able I successfully made some shop furnishing albeit with minor modifications to meet my needs. Started with the great toy box (which btw is still being used -- it is timeless. As for the planter project: I think they look great! Color is a matter of owners choice and product availability. It is ultimately just to protect the wood and is easily alterable. It's paint! Keep up the good work. You are doing all of us a great service.
Steve, just wanted to say I’ve never had so much fun woodworking in my life thanks to you. I look forward to going into my tiny, ill-equipped garage “shop” every day. And if I can’t work on a project because management has other plans, I sketch, plan, and go over for the hundredth time what I’m working on - on an iPad and not in SketchUp. Of course I make time for the latest Lockdown installment and browse the vast WWMM library. For the first time I celebrate a finished project rather than shrugging it off because it’s imperfect. You remind me what’s really important and I appreciate that most of all. Thanks for everything and stay healthy.
Thank you for making this days inside because if the Corona so much better, Its fun.i learn something and i have a nice time. Wish you and your wife all the best. Have a nice week
I still have red yacht anti-fouling paint on the door of my green Jeep after an.......accident. It's all character and memories. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it ;-)
Steve, I just started watching your channel a few weeks ago and just got to this video. Another great idea for the planters is to hide an outdoor speaker in each (under the flower bed area). This is what they do in many theme parks to pipe in music and keep it hidden.
thanks for these videos they may not be popular with you tube however for myself and many others being shut-ins at this time its almost like having a friend stop by who has similar interest i look forward to them
Steve, I very much appreciate your daily episodes. They have been the highpoint of my house arrest- uh- I mean, my quarantine. And I think your Halloween specials are the best! Can't thank you enough!
I didn't hate it! In fact, I enjoy that you're a real person. The colors of the planters are fine, now go do something you enjoy, or nothing at all. Thanks for talking to us every day!
A few days behind but I watch and genuinely enjoy all of your videos! Always like, not for nothing, I feel as though I get a small bit of wisdom from every video. Just occasionally get caught up in my own projects and fall behind!
I really enjoy watching the improvements to the workout bench. I tend to have to make adjustments for my stuff, so watching a pro do it and the thoughts behind it is really helpful! Keep up the great work Steve!
One of the things I'm most appreciative about watching your work is where you admit your mistakes, and the stream of consciousness conversation you have with your audience. Keep it up.
As a horticulturist, my recommendation is to use black nursery buckets that fit the planters. ( often one can get them free from landscapers as they are trashed or sent to recycle. Several reasons : 1. Helps preserve the planters. 2. Easy to swap out for fresh / seasonal plants. 3. Fresh growing medium each time. 4. Able to buy large accent color established plants and just drop then in. As most commercial places do. Great job. To bring the pots to the right height , gravel. Empty water bottles. Closed cell expanded foam. Wood scraps. You did a great job. Very attractive. .
I took your advice and upgraded my Table Saw from the old Craftsmen model you had to a Dewalt with a 24 inch rip capability. I tried to fudge a cut( 1/4 inch plywood trying to make a 12 inch cut ) that ended up in kick back and Management was not happy. My stomach ended up with a nice Purple cut about 1/4 deep .
If you kept the sawn off part of the weightbench, put some hinges on it and it'll fall down automatically when you raise the "backrest". Good length laying down, good length sitting up. Just a thought. Keep the vids coming! They're much appreciated
imo the color scheme is great! it's a lot more important that your house and furnishings look good to you than to some random stranger on the internet. the scourge of people saying "ah that's not a conventional enough color" is what gave us the world of beige of 90s home and garden tv :)
Looking forward to video #42, which should contain the answer to life, the universe and everything. Thanks for the daily videos Steve! I’ve been subscribed to your channel for several years, and felt like you stepped back a bit once you started focusing so much on the course work. Missed you, good sir!
I like the reality, projects don't always turn out perfect, and it takes time and effort to revisit and improve. And you did it "the right way" and didn't take short cuts that would dilute your initial result. Nice!
I realize that since this is your job, the number of views is important. But for me, I just like having this daily bit of woodworking, regardless of what it is you make (or ramble about).
Can you do a video or 2 about routers your router table??? By the way, your LOCKDOWN WOODWORKING vlog has definitely helped keep me sane during this quarantine so thank you so much for keeping this up!!!
Steve, Keep up the great work! We appreciate your diligence in putting out daily content. I always find something to take away from your videos...even if it is a reminder to use more kraft paper to keep from overspray getting on the tools hanging on the side of the mobile work benches. 😁
Steve, we call that sandbagging... keep making content like this and you'll continue to find yourself making better videos! :D Love these vids though, genuinely. Keep being you!
You could try rounding the corners at the top of your bench and that would stop any issues of the dumbbells just catching those squared corners. Loving the videos and all your diy gym kit 👍🏼
If you like the colors, doesn't matter what other people think. My wife has bought a lot of paint samples in various grays and light blues for wall paint projects so when I finished my rolling workbench recently I use 2 of the quart samples to paint it- light blue for the frame and gray for the top and shelves. People are puzzled by the color choices until I explain it to them. That's 2 less quarts of paint to throw away. I have more samples to use for future shop projects.
Steve, i don't think i missed a video from your channel. I can't afford the course, but i love watching you. And i'll watch every single one of your videos!
Hey Steve, so glad i stumbled across a couple of your videos. It eventually led me to hit subscribe and even sign up for the Weekend Woodworker. Great style and explanations. Really looking forward to getting started, absolute beginner! Now just waiting for lumber ........................ It may take a while. Thanks again
I've been subscribed since your chess set- that must be at least 10 years. Personally, I find these daily vlogs to be far more interesting than the *current* regular content. It's kinda cool to see all the stuff you've been able to make/fix around your house.
I do look forward to your videos! I just went back and rewatched the planter box series. I am goimg to make one for my Mom for Mothers Day. Have you looked on Wayfair at the prices they are getting for raised planter boxes.... WOW $200 to $300 for very simple boxes. Nothing like the ones you made.
Bit late now of course, but ideally you would want the seat to be able to tilt to suit the angle of the back rest. With the back rest at 45° and the seat section at an opposed 45° effectively creating a V shape, it would've raised you up higher, and locked you in tighter preventing any chance of sliding down when doing incline work. Nice bench all said and done though. Greetings from the UK 👍🏻
Enjoying these daily videos! Also, I love watching your Halloween videos. I think they're really fun and not enough people on UA-cam embrace that Holiday. After all, it is the best one.
Ive watched quite a few of your videos but since the uk was put on lockdown ive actually enjoyed watching your daily uploads. I have a small self built workshop for woodworking & enjoy working with wood. Thanks for taking the time to do daily uploads. I will probably watch more of your videos now as a result of these daily uploads. You couldnt be further from the truth when you say daily uploads will ruin the channel. I think you will have a lot of new followers as a result.
I enjoyed this one Steve I did the garden with wife plus it was a hot day over here also.Interesting about the shopping on line we do it also but it is sent to the house and you have weight about two weeks.Better to collect I think.
Hi Steve, I wouldn't recommend to put just pots in your planter boxes. Then there would be less volume of earth and you have to water it more often. Depends on your climate. Just consider that.
Like these series. Following your Chanel a while. And I seriously consider signing up for the weekend woodworking. Just need it to pass through management. 😁
Re the planters, if only management had suggested the color scheme BEFORE you assembled it, look at all the time you could have saved taping! Enjoying your daily vids.
Swedish flag 🇸🇪 yes 👍 Don’t worry about comments. Your videos are way better than a lot of them on here. Most people don’t make videos and don’t know what it involves.
I wasn't that keen on the colours of the planters while you were painting them but seeing them out on the deck has changed my mind. They look right in place.
Can't wait for the puzzle. My girlfriend is a hundred miles away from me and gets really bored with the lockdown. Me sending her a puzzle cheers her up.
It still amazes me whenever you mention the analytics of your Halloween videos. I loved all of them, and looking at the comments it seemed like the other viewers enjoy them too. But looking at my own analytics I can see how that could happen. I’ve been loving the daily content too. I think it just boils down to you being my favorite channel, so I don’t really care what you’re doing and I’ll watch lol
I still liked the video as like others have mentioned, in everyday project we always somehow tend to make mistakes. It is then up to us to come up with the best solutions so as to not to waste the invested time. Should you ever have problems in finding ideas for your videos just let the viewers come up with suggestions :) I am sure that there are a lot of diyers like me that have some ideas in mind but haven't yet come up with the perfect solution. Great idea on separate pots for the plants. The color does not matter what anyone else thinks, it IS yours and what works for you is all that matters.
