Eiyuden Chronicles represents the greatness of the JRPG Golden Age. It's success will definitely prove that there is a demand for these kind of games. What are your thoughts on this game? First time hearing about it?
In an era where Square Enix is turning FF into a mindless hack n' slash and basically deciding for the consumers that we don't want traditional style rpgs anymore, we need games like Eiyuden Chronicle. I hope the game sells well and serves as a finger to Square Enix for just trying to appeal to the normies while abandoning the audience that supported the series for generations. Love the video, love the content.
Well said! I kinda hate action-rpgs. It's not quite the same feeling than playing a turn-based RPG . Hope this helps establish we don't want the classic gameplay to go away.
You guys might want to actually read the story that "Suikoden"/Water Margin is based on. The characters that you play as or know of are based on thugs and bandits, and not the good kind like Robin Hood.
Thank you for spreading the love of Suikoden and now Eiyuden, I played Suikoden when I was a kid too and still are, I can't tell you how happy I was when I heard about Eiyuden, your are 💯% right people have missed out if they have not played Suikoden

@@RyanSmith-to6gi - indeed. I got Rising twice - digitally 1st, then again physically when that came out later. Now I'm hoping the same for 100 Heroes.
As a lifelong Suikoden fan, I'm so excited for Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes! It's a great thing to see a lot of the old team back together. A shame they couldn't get Miki Higashino to do the music for it. I hear they asked her but she respectfully declined. I don't know what happened to her at Konami, but it seems she's not been interested in working in videogames since; even after all these years she wasn't opening to changing her mind. Still, I don't doubt it's gonna have some great tracks with the people they got.
@@Jerrel28 Ah, I never knew the reasons behind it. Well I'm glad that it was for positive reasons that she had retired; I often imagined that Konami as they are sometimes known to be was just a traumatic work experience she hoped not to repeat. For the great music she gave us, she deserves a good life. Thanks for the info. :3
Considering that Suikoden is one of my absolute favorite JRPGs next to Final Fantasy VI, Wild Arms, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, Persona 2, Grandia, Dragon Quest VIII, and of course my mack daddy Xenogears, I'd say Eiyuden Chronicles may just be the game to deliver us into a JRPG rennaissance. Sure, we've had banger hits like Octopath Traveler 1 & 2, Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy, and even Final Fantasy XVI, but those didn't really break the mold.
@@MugenLord And who knows what comes after Eiyuden Chronicles' success? Maybe we'll have something more akin to a Xenogears spiritual successor of sorts with the same Lemmy tier storytelling from Soraya Saga and Tetsuya Takahashi.
Oh my God, that's why it was so familiar! I played the hell out of all of suikoden, even hunted down physical copies of the oldest games. Getting all 108 characters was a massive slog, but it was never boring that's just how amazing the games were. Loved them all, even suikoden tierkreis for the ds. They had such amazing stories. I'm looking forward to this game a hell of a lot more now ❤
@MugenLord same here on my first playthrough of the different games. There were some insane requirements to unlock several of the heroes that you would never naturally know to do, like losing a war clash with a specific character to trigger a mentor/friend to come to the rescue. Some complicated characters practically required a guide to be able to recruit.
I played a ton of Suikoden 2 back in the day. The 108 heroes you could recruit and all the stuff you could do with them was so impressive for the time. In an era where top of the line JRPGs had four characters, this was a game changer. I'll definitely pick up the remaster (if it's not censored like Baten Kaitos was!), and I might pick this game up too if it's on Switch. Great video, ML! Konami sucks and I hope their board members have cold coffee this morning.
Suikoden, if you can get past the outdated graphics, still kick ass today. I'm also very excited for this game (probably going to pick it up on steam) and can't wait for it's release.
Mugenlors have you played Grandpa? I finally played through it last year after decades of passing it by and I was completely and utterly blown away. Masterpiece.

Has anyone seen an anime called Macross Plus? In that movie the character named Sharon Appleton refuses to give away her perfectly beautiful singing voice for the public to hear, and no one through out that series was ever able to get her to open up and start singing again. Unfortunately for us, what Miki Higashino is doing right now at this time is a living example of what that character Sharon was doing in that anime.
Really intrigued since it's announcement. I never played suikoden, started JRPG at the time of FF8 / 9 and played some older one after that, and been playing new one ever since. Alway read that suikoden was top tier jrpg.
I've been playing JRPGs since the Turbo Graphix and the SNES but it was Suikoden that really broke me into the genre full time. My library became mostly RPGs because of that game. The story had so much passion put into it. The story and it's characters made me fall in love with the JRPG genre. It had player choices and consequences, it had base building, and a strategy army unit combat system that can effect characters fate at the end of the game. Your party members can die in war and are permanently removed from the game. It was intense pressure as a boy at the time. So to hear and see that these developers are back and are creating a spiritual successor to Suikoden, sign me up!
JRPGs have been hugely popular among fans over in both their native Central n South East Asia, The US and all over Europe in fact genre came about during the glory days of MUDs back at the end of the 70s back when graphics for JRPGs were limted to static imagery of backgrounds, characters and a cmd prompt which at the time was an incredible feet for early home computers compared to their Western counterparts.
