    I make it point to find real "live" performances of this era. Many times the acts would lip sync to their recordings. My hat is off to this great "live" performance by the lengendary Danny and the Juniors.

    Fabulous live performance by Danny & the Juniors! A shame that lead singer, Danny Rapp, blew his brains out in Vegas in 1983. Although they were thought to be an Italian quartet, they were comprised of Irish and Italian guys. Wonderful group live ... miss 'em a lot. Listen to a B-side of theirs 'Sometimes (When I'm All Alone)' to hear their beautiful harmony.

    Check those crinolines on the girls' dresses! I remember my (then) teenager aunt using boiled sugar to make her crinolines stiffer so they stood out almost 90 degrees!
    Yeah - live voices - but somehow the music sounds very live too! I bet there's a band out of sight to give them a backup. There are certain nuances different from the original recording in the band that make it sound to me like it's live, not Memorex.

    I heard that it was Dick Clark's wife who suggested they change the song title to "At The Hop"

    • @kb6kgx
      @kb6kgx 4 роки тому

      No, it was Clark, himself, who suggested it. The song was originally titled "At the BOP". And Clark said to the writers that the dance, "The Bop" was going out of style and the new thing was "sock hops". He suggested that the title be changed to "At the HOP". As they say, "And the rest… was history!"

    Why are their faces so big and body so short?

    • @kb6kgx
      @kb6kgx 4 роки тому +1

      Distortion. Probably from converting the original film footage to digital. I don't really know.

    • @JonathanMcKey
      @JonathanMcKey 3 роки тому

      Obviously this film was originally 4:3, then wherever they got this digital copy was 16:9 which stretches their faces, then the uploader, instead of reframing it to 4:3, they just cropped it to a 4:3 picture. That's why the text at the beginning and the guy on the right(I forget his name) is a bit cut off.

  • @stevemartz7027
    @stevemartz7027 11 років тому +1

    Al your sensitivity is just oozing out of your comments and also incorrect, Danny did "commit suicide" in Parker, Arizona. You have no idea what drives someone to it and I wish you nor anyone ever have to directly deal with a loved one doing something like that. If you do maybe then you may choose your observations better.
    Why can't you just enjoy the music and video as rare as they are.
