Marilyn T. Oakes, Organist, Georg Bohm, Freu Dich Sehr 1 through 6

Freu Dich Sehr (O, Thou Sweetest Source of Gladness) is a set of 12 lovely partiti, written by Georg Bohm, who was probably Germany's finest organist before his student, J. S. Bach. The creativity in the 12 variations is breathtaking. Bohm had a decided influence on Bach's treatment of chorales, and I have come to believe that it is impossible to fully understand Bach's chorale work without first playing the music of Bohm. The organ is Zwolle St. Michael's Church Arp/FC Schnitger, played on my Hauptwerk. I hope you enjoy.
