Can any of this can fit directly in the mouth of trach tube . My father is using no machines right now can it just tap in the mouth without anything and still humidify. And if yes please tell do wwe need to add anything in it.
Tried one on a recent trip and was surprised by the resistance it added to drawing in a breath. I stopped using it after 2 days, fortunately I was fine without any Humidifier. It's the resistance normal or did I have a faulty one?
Thanks for responding! I use a Res-Med Air Mini for travel. I’ve seen adapters that will allow me to use the same mask that I use with my home machine, but I think that I need to have humidification. I was wondering if this HME would work for me.
All of the nasal pillows have some sort of distance between the CPAP tube where the HME would connect and your nostrils. I have had users tell me that it still helps to have the HME installed even at that distance. I cannot picture it working very well, but I have first hand feedback that suggests it still may help.
You should be able to put the oxygen connector at the outlet of the CPAP unless you have heated tubing. If you have heated tubing then you should put it right before the HME on the Mask side of the tubing. So CPAP Tubing, O2 bleed in connector, HME, then CPAP Mask.
how do I know when it's time to discard the DME? it doesn't look any different after one day or 6 days. Does using in the desert or humid states affect when to discard?
That is a great question. Recommendations for each HME length of use or different and should be on the package. The ResMed ones are good for 30 days, and the basic one we sell is supposed to be 7 days. I have no idea why there is a difference on the recommendation for those two. I will say that an HME is a great place to grow some funky stuff if it stays damp. Hopefully that makes it as clear as mud. Sorry I don't have a more definite answer.
Can this HME be used with Philips Respironics Dreamwear where the hose connection is at the top of the headgear (ie, at the crown of the head) rather than the connection being right in front of the face near the mask, pillows, or under-the-nose pillows?
@@CPAPmyway Thank you. My concern, too, is that having it connect to the short stub at the top of the headgear where the CO2 output vent is may impede the flow from the under-the-nose pillows up the tube to that top vent, resulting in there not being a sufficient venting out of the CO2. Or, am I out in left field on this?
You are going to have to explain the "backflow valve" to me a bit more so that I can understand where it would fit. There are valves in many masks that flap open and closed while the CPAP is running. If that is what you are describing, then the HME will still work just fine.
It would be great to be able to just replace the blue foam instead of having to buy the whole plastic unit. The plastic could be disinfected and a new foam disk inserted with tweezers. It's unfortunate to have to throw so much plastic in the landfill . . . .because it's not really being effectively recycled.
Thank you, didn't know about these until recently and I've been a c-pap er for years.
Glad we could help.
Can this be used simultaneously with a heated humidifier?
I do not think that it works that way.
@@CPAPmyway What do you mean?

I am not sure about that. Sorry.
is there a difference between the two ? I have both I notice the smaller I get way dryer then then I do with the bigger one ?
Must be some difference then. I would not have thought that. Thanks for the input.
@@CPAPmyway atleast for me it seems different lol
Do all the HME’s have to be replaced or can some simply be cleaned?
They are disposable, and have to be replaced.
Is it important where inline the HME is located for effective use?
The closer to your exhalation the better.

That is something that we hear from time to time. It ads a bit of extra effort on the exhale.
@@CPAPmyway interesting! As I wrote, I found it added effort to the inhale.
I noticed that immediately....it definitely affects the flow
Is it worth using one of these with a F30i mask?
We have had customers tell us that it still makes a difference even though it is at the top of the head.
I want to get an adapter that will allow me to use my mask, but I need humidification. Will this HME work in this case?
It might, but I would have to know more about what you need and adapter for.

Can you tell me if there are any nasal pillow masks that HME can be used with. I only see full masks that have the removable small hose.
All of the nasal pillows have some sort of distance between the CPAP tube where the HME would connect and your nostrils. I have had users tell me that it still helps to have the HME installed even at that distance. I cannot picture it working very well, but I have first hand feedback that suggests it still may help.
In my experience, the HME doesn’t work with nasal pillows.
Is the port placed on the other filter for the oxygen connection? If not, is it safe to connect oxygen pipe there?

Can the HME be used in place of an onboard humidifier?
Thank You for the info!
It can.

It can be added, but it will not be as affective if it is farther away from your exhalation.

I pressed button to “preheat” but as I was falling asleep and again as I woke up, the air was ice COLD 😥
What am I doing wrong?
If the air in your house is cold, then it may always be cool air coming out of the CPAP.
1:50 so can it be use for the humifier or not?
You can use it in place of a humidifier. May not be quite as good as the heated humidifier.
