Audiolingualism.... with the numbers I am curious what would happen to simply ask them to count to 20. How about ask them to count and leave out numbers important in their lives ( age, when then wake up, shoe size etc.). Put them in pairs and do a dictogloss and then the students guess why a number was left out. Just a thought off the top ...
Could you please tell me which method / book (interchange, new headway, English unlimited, new English file, etc) is suitable for learners who want to learn English for communication?

those kids are not grade 1, nor can grade 1 (5 year old) ESL/EFL students at beginner level follow even 15% of this book. Who is this book aimed at, native or foreign students? The students in this video can clearly already speak & understand complicated grammatical sentences. I have been lead to believe it is a book for ESL/EFL students, but surely not. Why would you teach contractions to ESL students before they have learned basic non contracted verbs. If I was to place the Discover 1 book at a level, i'd say it was better suited to grade 3 (7 year old) ESL students not grade 1. A1 level is equivalent to Cambridge movers level, so where is the book for Pre A1 (starters level). Why would you design a book series that starts at movers level. It is very confusing especially for foreign ESL teachers and foreign ESL course planners.
dean mcmenemy totally agree, I am teaching kids from 3-5 and Oxford Discover Foundation is way too difficult to teach because sometimes it is too hard to teach, a lot of confusion and dèinitely not suit to this age
