General MacArthur didn't stop the Japanese in New Guinea, the Australians did it in spite of his nitpicking. They were bleeding them out, and starving them, while the U.S. did the same in Guadalcanal. The boys won Guadalcanal without him too!
MacArthur was a legend in his own mind.
The Japanese, after the war said "we didn't have a General as Good". Post war records are available, look them up.
He started the film off with Japanese were going to Guadalcanal in 1942 to remove the Japanese soldiers that had been defeated. It was actually February 1943.
Perhaps it was a long voyage?
Japans war ships were funcky looking
@@Teddy-tv7rq they had a eastern aesthetic.

They wouldn't have needed "Brave defenders of Japan" if they hadn't started a war.
The Brave Defenders of Japan? never heard of them,. I have only ever heard of the cruel, insecure, idiotic defenders of Japan.
In 1943 the P-38 was already in the Solomons and New Guinea and it had better speed and similar range to the Japanese planes…. And in mid 43 the marines got the Corsair and the Navy the Hellcat that were superior.
New reading. Thx.
A lot of the criticisms of the writers ( not veterans I’d bet) don’t seem to comprehend war. Hindsight can be 20 / 20 but they are irrelevant for the actual time of the fighting. Success matters.
Think that's a typo at the very beginning. Japan wouldn't have been evacuating Guadalcanal in Feb 6, 1942.
Having a change in images or showing maps that match the narration would be great.
As if the 30 million who were killed by the Empire of Japan across Asia never happened.
Way too much redundant information, a lot of repeating things, did no one edit?
It’s a pre-existing text “read” by AI… repetition is often the chapter title. Plus, it’s not perfect. What it is - to you and me - is free 😉
