I love the background layered look in Parzival's Stone. Charles Cecil is a fascinating guy, I love his love of history. Another great interview, I'm so glad we'll see more Broken Sword, an amazing series.
I’m so glad Charles clarified his concerns for the 3D characters not being finalised in the trailer. Community has raised concerns on them as they looked so out of place. Really looking forward to the release - love the series
Thank you so much Sir Charles Cecil and the Team of Revolution Software, to make Broken Sword 6 Parcival Stone and Broken Sword 1 / Reforged / The Remake. Thank you so much ❤️🇬🇧❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@Cressup Don't be silly. He's an amazing talented man but so are you. This interview comes across "down to earth" The average person will relate to this. Yourself, Sir Charles, and him making the goat become an infamous, and stunning rascal are a great bunch. Much love from Macdevitts bar.
@@CressupI'll highlight 2:40 to 2:50 he directly hints after saying whats been done to 1 can be applied to 2.. Whilst dealing with a release of 6.. Then he says.. "Then there's the other Broken Swords written 10, 15 years ago.". That's a hint to me.. That they have an interest there in doing 3 and 4 as well.. That's a scoop.. I missed out on 3 and 4 so this is what I wanted to hear.. Howfully they will do a Beneath a Steel Sky reformed to? Possibilities possibilities.
Whilst I'm sure they're not against making more remakes they will have given literally no thought to them other than seeing that the Kickstarter for Reforged went so well so it's not a no. So it's really no confirmation other than that. Afterall, after this they still have 6 to make! It's nice to hope for it obviously but yeah it will not be much more than that so I wouldn't take what Charles is saying as any kind of confirmation.
@@Cressup I think its just a glimpse of hope in his excitement.. Its just good to know that is something they've thought about after 2.. Because they will have this hole of 3 and 4 on modern platforms they will want to patch.
As someone who's dipping more in adventure game design, his insights of allowing the games to be more accessible to more story-driven players was fantastic.
Fantastic interview! Always loved Charles and his stories, could hear him speak for hours! Also, where can I get my hands on one of those posters you’ve got in the background?!
Charles' knowledge and passion of history are what makes the Broken Sword games so unique and memorable. He wrote about Templars before Dan Brown made them public knowledge. And through him was the first I heard about the Gnostic gospels. Very interesting stuff.
Great interview ! Hyped for both games, maybe even a bit more for Reforged. I´m glad that there will be a non-Directors-Cut version widely available without the need to use DOS-Box on modern machines. Hope they don`t change too much of the original`s dialogue nor it`s content in general.
45 years old now and been playing every game since the beginning (consoles, handhelds, pc). Absolutely loved the first and second game, then a few were a little less (sorry Charles), but they picked up the original feels and quality with the 5th and i am over the moon that this lovely franchise is finally continuing.
Thank you so much! That was a wonderful interview! So much infor! I wish I had one of those black stones to be able to take a peek at the released game :P
I met this guy at EGX in 2021. Hes one of the most Dynamic people ive ever met. Someone told me there that he often stays to talk to fans and has sometimes missed his train home. Ive just discovered your channel and i think i will be binging a fair bit of your content :)
It's really odd playing broken sword 1 through 5 on a 4k monitor, I love it, I can't wait for the new one! I always preferred the 2D point and click and the hand-drawn style is glorious so I'm glad they're bringing aspects of that back! EDIT: I was 9 when I first played BS1 and it was in 640x480 on a CRT :D
I love Charles Cecil throwing shade at Dan Brown :D It's fascinating that both Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight tackled similar subject matter to Dan Brown, many years prior and so much more intelligently.
Thank you for this Interview. Even though I am completely lost in Baldurs Gate 3, but the announcement of BS remake and the creation of BS6 definitely made my year!! Great video!
i finished BS for the first time only a few months ago i had it as a kid but i was never able to finish it. going back and finally seeing the ending was amazing. I am glad you are doing the story mode i hate being stuck for ages
Hearing Charles Cecil talk about history and time with such knowledge, really makes me wish that he had written the script for Dial of Destiny. We may have received a half decent movie that way, instead of the claptrap which we actually received.
Broken Sword was my first point and click game back on the PS1. I had no idea what was going on. Until I saw the hand pointing down at the newspaper on the floor outside the cafe.
I'm so happy about this. Really looking forward to 6. I wonder if they will ever remake 3 & 4. It would be great if they would bring them up to par with the other entries.
I love broken sword my favorite game series. If I could I would love to meet George and Nico to grab a coffee ☕ at the local coffee shop. I wish they were real. Charles Cecil has a good vision for broken sword series
The mere idea of Broken Sword The Shadow of the Templars in 4K is INSANE. I can’t wait. The new game will be great, no doubt, but the first two games are just masterpieces.
Great interview, thank you. I love all the Broken Sword games, especially 1, 2 and 5 but something I would like to see completely removed is the tips system. I don't like getting stuck then knowing I can essentially cheat using an in-game feature. I actually sent Revolution an email about this a few years back.
So happy about this! I've enjoyed every single Broken Sword game with 1 being my favorite. I hope Broke Sword: Shadow of the Templar Reforged does really well and get's more people into this series. Charles said it's going to be a huge 18 months. Does that mean 6 will be out in 2025? Can't wait for 6 though :D
Charles is incredible, his knowledge of history and religions makes him such a great story writer which is why Broken Sword will always hold a very special place in my heart.
loved Broken Sword, played it when I was 11 on the ps1. I got stuck in alot of scenes, but still loved it. To get past the goat I had to get a bus into town to the local Game store and look for a magazine which had a walkthrough 😂Played it multiple times since.
Great interview Cress! I must say Charles is a character. That witch story came out of nowhere. I think we should organise ‘a night with Charles’ and just sit and hear him talk for hours 😅
Broken Sword 1 really didn't need an overhaul at all, it was stunningly beautiful. What badly needs a reforge though is the fourth installment. It is tricky to get it to run on mordern hardware, and the puzzle design is ... meh? The game really needed a hint system, or more dialogs that give you hints. So many times in that game, you didn't know what to do.
Yes 🙌 a story a history lesson or a csi MacGyver type of style, and a movie love the characters so simple yet so satisfying puzzles galore oh joy love the deduction work for the puzzles hours of fun………:) 😮more please 🙏 ❤
Is he implying they are going to reanimate Broken Sword 2 through 4 as well? That would be the dream, but I don't see how plausible it is. Perhaps A.I can do it all, ey.
Not to piss anyone off, but i wish he took the leaf out of relic hunter and made the story about something other than templars and Christianity once in a while
I'm all for the Story Mode for casual gamers, but please, please, pretty please do not water down the puzzle solving for us hardcore adventure gamers. I want to be stuck for hours, or even days, on a puzzle. I was appalled by how watered down and easy Return to Monkey Island was (even on "Hard Mode").
I'm so happy Broken Sword is alive and continuing.
Viva la revolution!!

I love Charles cecil. The game is awesome been playing them since the late 90s early2000s was a kid back then..
The fact that the games are so steeped in history is what has kept me excited about this series for years. I can't wait for both games to release!!
