This will turns me back to 98 when i was 14 years old, so carefree and young to the good old days. The felling and emotions of the original part 1 is so unique❤
If i may, i would prefer the (style) drawings from the BS-1 (Reforged).
Please, never stop making Broken Sword games. Your game are in part the reason today i am the way i am. I started to be fond of History because i played the first broken sword!

I think the 3D models might still be a bit too 3D looking actually in the new one. I can see the textures used have a nice almost painterly style which helps a lot, but there's still a fair bit of soft shading being rendered from the lighting set up. 'The Serpent's Curse' characters have a much more cel shaded look, which I think is better. Also the 3D geo of Nico's seat for example looks really lowpoly in places - you can see the segments along the back of the chair, it isn't a smooth curve, so that clashes with the beautiful 2D background. I think really the less 3D looking it all is the better for sure.
Everything looks great except the character models. Please please change the style of their graphics while theres still time! They're really off putting how they move and interact, breaks the magic
I couldn't agree more. On top of that, I'd say the character animation is still waay to stiff.
Charles said in an interview that the character models here are the worst things about this reveal and will be greatly improved for the finished product.

Very happy with these announcements! One of my favourite series. Playing the original is one of my fondest video game memories. I can't wait to experience Paris in the fall once again.

I miss the 2D hand painted animation. Why does stuff in 2023 look so much worse than it did in 1996? Anyway, bad CG aside, I'm looking forward to a new chapter in the saga. One of my favorite game series of all time.
I agree. The characters in the original look better than the latest one 30 years later. I hope that’s the “pre-alpha” visuals only.

I like the first part of the new graphics but when they switch to close up not so much
in 1996 Point and Click was still a Moneymaker, so they had Budget.

apparently the whole animation industry lost the ability to simply make beautiful handdrwarn animation. Revolution, Disney, LucasArts and on and on
Hopefully Reforged uses the original as a base and not the Director's Cut. The original opening is iconic, and the cartoony headshots during conversations really detract from the atmosphere
There's a shot of a body in the explosion that the director's cut removed so there's a good chance, fingers crossed.

Loved the originals but I played the directors cut on the nintendo Wii and it was awful. Removed animations, removed dialogue, less things to examine in the environment. I hated it, it wasn't any better on the PC either when I tried it there, same with Broken Sword 2 remaster, that was bad too.
It will be based on the original
i hope it uses the original as a base but i also want nico story from the director´s cut to be included because even though i prefer the original i still like the nico parts in the director´s cut and some people may not like it but the nico parts in the director´s cut where we play as her is canon

This is exciting! Have to point out though that George's voice audio when he's sitting at the table with Nico, has reverb/echo on it that makes him sound indoors and not outdoors, so the sound design in that regard needs fixing. Also hopefully with the new 'Reforged' version, it'll start with the original intro - straight into the Cafe bombing. That was basically perfect before, the 'Director's Cut' version starting out with Nico totally lost all that great momentum. So if Nico's sections are included then the bit at the start should be shuffled to later as a flashback maybe, or if can be scrapped and modified to make sense later that could be better. Really looking forward to seeing both of these though!!
My wife and daughter have played this since PS1 days. They've both said this is one of the few games they will buy on release day and savour every minute of game play.

Not the biggest fan of 3D character models in point and click adventure games, however.

It's so good to know that the original Broken Sword is about to be remastered! Please, include the option to choose the original voiceover if you have re-recorded it.
It has already been remastered in the past with the "Director's Cut" releases ;).

I’m so happy they are making this, but really hope they drop the 3D characters. Doesn’t look good, the art style of reforged version looks amazing and what they should have stuck with
This announcement is like Christmas and birthday together for me.
I really loved the first part and played it on PC and Playsi One and GBA Nintendo DS and Wii. All this music, the dialogues are just terrific.
Even though part 2 was good and part 5 isn't bad either, a recent remaster of the first is really something I've been waiting for for a while.

To be honest I wish they had kept the same style as The Serpent's Curse which was absolutely perfect.
To me they look better than Serpent's Curse. They were too cartonny in that one.

This looks promising. I compared some shots with the original cutscenes and instead of just cropping the image to 16:9 and upscaling it, they've actually opened up the sides, upscaled the backgrounds (I presume?) and redrawn the animations in the style of the original. I hope they can give the sound some love, too. Those were 22kHz files originally (voice, sfx and music) and they sound horrible. They already increased the music quality for the Wii version (only half the music though as they didn't use the rest), so fingers crossed.
Revolution just made gamescom and also made me a very happy fan of the series. I'm thrilled with this announcement. I met charles once and what a delight it was and a dream come true. As a huge fan of the best point and click series of all time, I cannot wait to relive the classic original and look forward to the next chapter.

Just a few months ago I re-played "Broken Sword Director's Cut" and "Broken Sword 2" and now I'm playing "Broken Sword 2.5" - very happy to see this annoucement.

the story mode sounds like a really good feature for new players who have never played a Point&Click game before.
also the ability to look into the future in BS6 which shows you the worst possible outcome if George/Nico fail, sounds like they bring back the death animations. at least I hope so :)
I can't believe this! I had no idea about this. Probably because I didn't expect it to be announced at an Xbox conference. Still, so happy though! I hope they keep these kind of graphics. Reminds me of 3 mixed with and 1 and 5. Never understood why 3 wasn't that popular. Can't wait for 6!

Amazing announcements! I'm probably just being nostalgic but I wish that Parzival's Stone had the same graphics as Reforged. It adds so much to the whole experience

The first game remastered in it's original form, upscaled in 4K, and on modern platforms... A dream come true! A 4K remaster of BS2 is obviously not far ahead since it's the last game retaining the 2D animation we all came to love.
I don't care about more sequels though. BS3 drew the line for me concluding the franchise in a good way despite being in 3D. If the 4K remasters sells well, a remake of BS3 using the same style as BS5 would be good to go with.
So happy for this 2024 Finally Broken Sword is back and bringing back the original with it.

The drawn characters from the first part look much more believable in the surroundings / enviroment than the 3D models. I mean: just look at the green jacket. It looks very off

This is great to see but I've never been a fan of the 3D character models, it just doesn't have the same charm as the original style. In some cases moving a step backwards is moving forwards to what was originally better. The background looks great though.

Kind request: George's audio at around 0:45 has echo. Makes the game audio poorer, which is unfortunate and I bet not representative of the team's hard work. Please don't let the detail slip in the final product.

In my opinion the characters looks worst than Broken Sword 5. Really I don't understand the people who loves the originals and is capable to also enjoy this 3d characters. Beyond Steel Sky (which I enjoyed alot) has better models than this on the teaser.
@@Torru85I was referring more towards environmental art, which surely you agree is really good? When it comes to 3D characters, what exactly/specifically is it you would like to see?
@@Nutricula87 I think 3D characters looks and feels much better on the backgrounds using cel shading. On this teaser to me characters and background aren't feel too organic. Backgrounds are sweet as usual on this franchise.
Anyway on the trailer says is a Pre-Alpha Footage. So I should shut up. Besides that I don't like the dumb thing of developers to announce games years and years before the release. I don't expect BS6 until early 2025 in the best of cases. (most of developers do that nowadays)

Great news. Congratulations on the state of both games. The environment style for Parcifals stone looks absolutely gorgeous. Well done! If you can make the characters fit as well with the background as you did for BS5 then it will look outstanding I think but I am sure you are aware that the characters need more work. BS1 reforged also looks amazing. Incredible job with recreating everything with so much higher fidelity! I'm really excited for both of these upcoming releases. Broken sword games have always been among my favorite games.

The result achieved in Broken Sword 1 is impressive, surely the best graphic adventure in history for me.
And finally Broken Sword 6, it looks spectacular, especially the backgrounds and scenarios, I knew it would go to the Cathars and all that, thanks Revolution, thanks for these stories and these great games, I'll buy it the day it comes out, I hope a physically edition for PC, I love your work, I wish there were more games like this.
