I would never trip with any unknown person. Let alone a bunch of them. I don't even like to trip with my friends. Most of the psychonauts I know (including myself) prefer to trip alone with the set of their own choosing and in their own settings. (also to my understanding syrian rue is not a DMT containing plant, but a MAO inhibitor, so it can be used as PART of ayahuasca brew)
It's very important for people to hear these stories and be aware of potential risks. Any time we are putting ourselves in the care of another, when we are in a vulnerable state, we need to ask plenty of questions, check reviews and have a plan if we see red flags. Some of us are more vulnerable to the freeze state of fear and enter a survival mode of compliance. This is not our fault, we're all wired differently and many with early traumas. It's certainly important for anyone with previous traumas to be very comfortable with the person leading them in a psychedelic ceremony, because hallucinations can draw from these traumas. Thanks Shelby for all you do around harm reduction ❤

It's great that you guys also put out cautionary tales such as this one. There are people out there, dumb or evil, or often.. both, and mushrooms, as hugely beneficial as they can be, won't protect you from them. Sometimes, quite the opposite...
It’s tragic that people are taken advantage of in such a vulnerable state. So much healing, learning, and growth when used in the right context. Let’s hope we can weed this out enough through education like this.
I think I know when it's time or not to take a psychedelic, it's 40 years since I first tried Liberty Caps, I picked in a pasture. I don't think a (commercial) 😂"retreat center" or any people to tell me what substances I should take is anything but totally alien to me! I researched this field already in my late teens and when I was a student.. I don't do meds as a hobby. They are tools for a better life and very personal. I don't know what I need a "guru " or "saviour" for! 😊 A
Uh-oh! That poisonous word ‘regulated.’ On the surface sounds like a great idea, we can weed out those who lack integrity as you say. But take a look at those in charge of anything regulated now. Seems mostly, those who lack integrity are drawn to those positions, guaranteeing at best a limited experience. Sounds like what you’re doing- word of mouth, we can flush out the bad apples better than any ‘authority’ can.
I'm all up for psychedelics and seriously think theyre tools that can change us for the better. These fuckin retreat centres the rich psytrance kids go to just ring alarms anytime i hear of them
Don't go anywhere to be "trained" to serve plant medicine. Especially some place for $5,000 for 15 days. There are lineages and cosmologies with deep roots and these chosen people train for years if not decades before ever serving any medicine, regardless of the form of medicine. Stop with this guru BS. What a horrific experience and I don't mean this with any hint of shame towards these woman and anyone who attended.
I subscribe to your channel and always enjoy your videos. But this video was too rambling and incredibly confusing. Too much information. Who were you talking too? Certainly not any novice. You want to tell folks to avoid a certain retreat fine. But all this in-depth information is way over the top. And very unnecessary and disturbing.
You gonna trust him?? 😂😂 Had his chance, did nothing. ~Maybe you missed the multiple times he talked about executing drug dealers. How do you think he would treat the average user??
There are hundreds of boomers who have more than a passing desire to do psychedelics but have no path to do so. How can DB act versus advise? DB tutorials initiate tangible results upon the acts of others in cultivation. Growing your own mescaline, extract your own DMT safely and securely or yet-to-be discovered methods to expand our conscientiousness within Mother Nature? You have such great credibility where others just don't.

My retreat center is my bedroom
or my tent
Same

Or nature🌱

The talk-through was crucial- What right should look like- So important. What wrong looks like, really important as well.

Thank you for spreading awarness about this topic. This is huge so many fake healers fake gurus that only goal is your money.
Your hair is pretty!
Trust your intuition. Thanks for reporting on this.
Grow your own medicine! 🍄 💙 except nothing else.
Thanks for reporting this. People need to know

what a nightmare. How strange to stay when you are "in terror"....definitely a cautionary tale.
Thanks Shelby. I was actually thinking about going to Mexico for ibogaine as a possible treatment for ADHD. This is definitely food for thought.
*me pausing halfway to grab my notebook, pen and snacks* I was fully invested in this video 😂
6:15 sirian rue is not a dmt containing plant, it has harmalas!
Invaluable informative video.
And thats one of the reasons I don't go to retreats. Once psychs have become legal and the facilitators get regulated this might change...
I believe the term Shelby is describing is 'delusions of grandeur'.
Or megalomania perhaps?
@@ChromeDrone. The two often go hand-in-hand.
Love the video but everyone is divine ❤️
I wish I could be a facilitator. I'd love to take care of and guide people to enlightment. To experience what I have.... hit me up lol

regulation is not proof of safety, how many regulated programs turn out to be horrible?
✌️💚

Trump talked about legalizing medical marijuana and possibly some psychedelics like mushrooms in Lex friedman podcast

He'll say and do anything to stay out of prison.
Did nothing huh.. Geez wtf have you been watching.. While the country is decimated.. lol...
