Stephen Fry played the Duke of Wellington in Black Adder
And played him hilariously well, seeming to half-kill Hugh Laurie in the process.
Honestly, all you U.S. "House" fans, you really should see it.
I like to think Napoleon only had affairs with Josephine and similar names so he didnt technically say the wrong name during bed
'only' hahahaha... he divorced Joséphine and married Marie Louise of Austria to bear him an heir, and had confirmed illegitmate children with Maria Walewska and Eléonore Denuelle de La Plaigne
@@just-tess ha-ha-ha you are humorless.
Wellington gave up being ambassador in Paris so he could be the British ambassador to the Vienna conference.
Some military men have clothing named after them, some are named after their clothing. Admiral Vernon always wore a Grogram coat, so the sailors called him "Old Grog" when the Admiral ordered the Rum ration to be watered down, the resultant beverage was named "Grog" in his honour.
This story probably isn't true as mid-level nobles were the subject of a lot of celebrity gossip and army officers at the time were regarded as hot. With Wellington in particular he was estranged from his wife and had several long-term secret mistresses but there were rumors that he slept with just about every woman who ever shared a carriage with him. It's not surprising that the propagandists who exaggerated how short and cocky Napoleon was would also claim that Wellington stole his girls.
But then so many people have affairs with the nanny, tutor, nurse, secretary, instructors, pool boy, bodyguard, etc. 🙄
@georgenaughton6700 that's a cliche from fiction. Before no-fault divorces it was common for permanently estranged couples to both have "affairs" that everyone knew about. Poor people could move to a new town where they were not recognized and remarry
"Seriously dude. Just be honest with yourself."
-Napoleon's College roomie, Joseph.
The main dispute between Wellington and Napoleon was whether the hat brim should be worn parallel to the eyes or perpendicular. Other than that it was the same hat.
Ahh wee Jock and his famous Strap
Jacques Strappe! Les LOLs :)
It makes you proud to be British. 😂❤
"Ol' Jock Strap!"
Thats Lord Jockstrap to you
So Wellington had Napoleon's slopy seconds 😂☮️✊️
That's why he needs his boots
It's saying things like "sloppy seconds" that make her out of your league, Gareth
@@imcallingjapan2178 who the fucks Gareth
@@cerberus7849 "Father Christmas, who d'you think it is?!"
Maybe Napolean talked in his sleep... Johnny Carson had three wives named Joan, jo Ann, and joannie
Don't forget the piece of personal protection named after Helmet Kohl
*Helmut, so...
goddammit Aisling now I have that song in my head
Lord Jock Strap was in charge of the Scottish regiment
Jacques Strappe
Moe's Tavern. Do I have a Jock Strap? I'm looking for a Jock Strap.
You have to love how British people still make short jokes about "Boney." It's only been 200 years.
Not tonight, Josephine...

You forgot the shoe. The Blucher, which is named after the Prussian General who came through the trees to flank Napoleon.
Duke Wellington? He's got a great band.
Wasn't Désirée Clary his actual ex, having been engaged to him before Josephine came along? So the correct answer is Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte, subsequent king of Sweden?
I suppose it's handy to have mistresses of the same name, so in the moment of climax he didn't yell out the wrong name, though it was awkward when he bellowed out "Henry!!!" that one time... :P
I didn't hear much from this Tony Hawks guy on the panel, but he seemed like a pro skater to me.
Seems like you’ve mixed them up then
WhoOoOoO
going through all those named articles of clothing, I'm surprised nobody mentioned Robin Hoodie!!!!!
Admiral Platform! 😆
Oh, and I know this sort of conduct is in poor taste today, but I've got some new respect for the old Duke. That's some kind of ass-kicking.
Napoleon didn't speak English and wouldn't have even if he could so that "Able was I..." quote can't be attributable to the "Little Emporer". The French equivalent wouldn't be a translate the same anyway. 😅

So, basically, he was cheating but boxing clever so as to not get the name wrong??
he divorced Joséphine in 1810 and married Marie Louise of Austria to secure an heir, so, yes he was cheating but only his mistresses shared a name if they were concurrent
First?
Who Did Napoleon's Ex Go Out With Next? | QI. 3.7.24. Napokeone and rasputin....what's the connection?
I enjoy the banter on this show but I rarely click on it because I can’t stand that awful woman. Thank goodness it was Fry.
