This was my first time seeing the WHM changes as a WHM player. Caress giving a heal up front, then a shield, and then a regen only after the shield effect ends is wild. The regen after the shield ends is a good touch. WHM really does seem like the raw healing output class, which is what I like for new content.
It looks like ninja became a lot less of mag dumping your dps in the damage window and then twiddling your thumbs for the next mag dump and more consistent damage. That is very good because Ninja was hella unfun to play in Endwalker.
Of classes I play regularly, in order: - Bard: QoL changes plus AoE Pitch Perfect is good, I love where it's at. - Blackmage: I know the hardcore ones are not okay, but I need to know how Despair will line up during fire phase and if Thunder can still replenish MP during ice phase, since they stole Paradox from us there. Monk: We have a ranged button! Finally! Whitemage: they gave it a weak En Avant from Dancer and a built-in panic button on wings. Neat? Dark Knight: I don't know what I'm doing as is, this isn't going to change things for me.
i've been considering swaping my main because our main friend group is a warrior, white mage, bard, machinist, and the bard player doesn't even have any other jobs unlocked. since Dancer was sort of my backup job when I wasnt feeling Machinist, knowing that Viper is Dancer-esque but melee means I might see if I feel cool swapping over so we stop having two ranged physicals in the default group
Astrodyne provided guaranteed MP regen just like lucid dreaming, a mini presence of mind effect and a 5% damage buff to yourself that was 1% less than your 120s CD raid buff. It stacked with the raid buff, food and cards. It was absolutely amazing and we get basically nothing that comes close. I do like that the cars get back their own identities, but that returns the aspect of randomness to it. With astrodyne, you could guarantee 2 out of 3 star signs and there's a 66.6667% of getting the third. Draw a card and use it on any dps. The bole, the ewer and the spire are for ranged/casters. The balance, spear, and arrow are for melee/tanks. When you draw your 2nd card if it is the same sign as your first card you redraw then play it. You will never get the same star sign on a redraw. If the third card matches one of the first 2 signs redraw. It's a fifty fifty shot to get the 3rd sign if you didn't initially draw it. Even so, 2 out of 3 signs isn't bad at all. You get mana regen, and 10% cast speed increase and auto attack frequency. That's a dps increase. Shoot, even if you don't wanna remember which card best suits which half the dps, anybody would be glad to have any buff at all. You don't redraw to get the right cards to get the 6% buff on the dps, you redraw just for matching the astro signs. The cards weren't yard.
I mained Reaper most of the way through Endwalker, with Gunbreaker in my back pocket (and before taking an extended break, I was also trying my hand at Sage). Honestly Viper looks interesting, but I'm not sold on it yet. It feels TOO flashy, if that makes sense. Pictomancer, OTOH, looks interesting to me, and might be interesting to pick up over my Red Mage (which I used mostly for running raids and stuff). But I'll be honest, one glance at that Picto tool tip made my eyes cross. O.o
I did a little digging to find full tooltips and so many skills are the type that transform into other skills that it's looking to be the easiest job to set up hotbars for, very controller friendly. I forget how I had it worked out but I'm probably gonna have extra space for potions and stuff, even factoring in role actions. Maybe now that I can have feint in a more convenient spot, I'll stop forgetting to use it.
Very relatable and real. I leveled up all jobs "organically" so no skips or cheeses through Deep Dungeon/Bozja spamming; this let me learn at every level range through roulettes and have basic understanding of each one. I only consider RPR and WAR my "mains" but I dabble in a few others like GNB, MCH and BLM. The others are just "if you ask me to play, I'll be competent, but don't expect raid prowess from me anyways. As opposed to some annoying doomers out there, I'm quite happy with most job changes this time around. Could they have done a bit more on some? Sure. Looking at you, SMN... But they overall kept the job fantasies for me and if anything they are making me want to try other jobs that I didn't really care about before. MCH has been my go-to secondary job since it's rework in Shadowbringers but Dawntrail may be the expansion where it actually becomes my main. It really all depends on what I think of Pictomancer after I play it as it's really the only other job that's caught my eye (aside from Viper but there will be plenty of those running around at launch) but given it's complexity and the odds that it will change slightly by the time it launches I feel like I'll need to actually play it before knowing if I'm going to like it. My plan is the spend the first day of early access leveling Pictomancer through various means that allow me to see how it plays not only at levels 80-90 but also in low level content which should have the knock on effect of also giving me Poetics that I can use to round out and fully upgrade some of my level 90 gear. Even if I don't end up taking Pictomancer through the expansion I've found that I actually like delaying starting the MSQ a little bit so that the first areas have a chance to calm down a little bit as the hardcore story people will want to immediately push through the story ASAP.
I know you were busy with all the achievements streaming and awesome content but …. there is still a glimmer of hope that we’ll get to see more Mad because Small as well one day XD
ending enshroud without a communio hurts my soul but I'm more interested in the "Executioner" buff I saw, is it just a redo of Soul Reaver? I am a reaper main (1000+ hrs), and honestly I kind of wish they would just remove death's design and buff reaper damage by 10% because I forget DD WAY too often lmfao also, Soul Sow only has a cast bar in combat
Guess I'll spend another expansion ignoring Summoner if it's literally just the same endwalker easy mode with some bahamut buffs and a reskin. I miss my ex, but she's changed so much and got so lazy pressing 2 buttons only..
honestly, i am surprised they havent upgraded shield bash yet. like upgrade it to divine shield and give it an aoe or counter for a couple seconds or something. the fact it's so memed on yet not removed is astounding.
The thing to remember with Viper's simplicity right now is that this is a full level 100 moveset. Much like Reaper, once you get synced down to around or below it's starting level it will probably lose all interesting and fun mechanics.
It looks like my primary jobs (RDM/WHM/NIN) are either staying about the same or getting mild tuneups, so that's a plus for me. Viper may indeed play like a melee DNC, but the dual blade looks like it pulled from the RDM white/black mana management concept so this might be an interesting shakeout. Be nice if a completely new job didn't look so hopelessly generic though. PCT is looking better all the time by comparison.
Im glad they are finally starting to consolidate more buttons. The button bloat was starting to get a bit out of control for some classes. Still a lityle disappointing they didnt cap our lvl at 99 this xpac but Im glad we seem to be getting some pretty cool end cap skills.
WHM main here, concerned by what you were saying about duty design that we're gonna need all these new and improved heals >.> what if I have to get good. Hopefully it's more for the savages and ultimate(s)
Still maining my BLM. Nothing like bigger explosions! It’s crazy, because the level 90 rotation was absolutely perfect. And this level 100 is perfect with an extra dash of explosion and more mobility (the ability to move Ley lines is a huge game changer…. No longer have to worry about do I move or do I stay in my lines. Now can do both…)
Honestly pld getting an updated version of atonement is nice. They had to buff it for it to be worth using all of in EW so the extra buff in damage for the three piece in DT and the slight shift in rotation is nice, I've already started doing it as speculated to build my muscle memory for it, and it feels really comfortable and I've seen an extra bit of damage so 5th blade off Requiescat and supplication and Sepulchre look nice
i think monk is the most interesting one from the old jobs but im for sure excited to play pictomancer hopefully it’s really enjoyable for a long time and not just the beginning of the expansion
I'm surprised at Monk being considered one of the hardest jobs because I feel like I've just been facerolling my way through it for years, lol. So long as I remembered to Cha Cha Slide, I was doing okay.
I'm maining Pictomancer. I really think it is a cool-looking job, and probably the only caster I will play from now on, though I do love my Melees so I'll be messing around with Viper too. ;)
Black Mage 90 rotation: Leylines, Sharpcast, Thunder 3, Blizzard 3, Blizzard 4, Fire 3, Fire 4, Fire 4, Fire 4, Paradox, Fire 4, Fire 4, Fire 4, Swiftcast, Despair, Manafont, Despair, Blizzard 3, repeat. Weave in Sharpcast + Thunder 3 and you will always get a proc that will last longer than the debuff, pop your polyglots as desired though preferably every 2 minutes. Easy. 😊
Oh I seriously doubt they'll actually increase the dmg dealt by Encounters noteably. They cut out our dmg tools in ShB which Made some people think the same and it didn't Happen. The EW just bloated the healing kits even more and dmg barely increased in one savage Tier. DT won't be any different.
Maybe, maybe not. They did state that they're planning on giving their encounter design a serious look-see. Will that translate to anything? Don't know. Though it could just be a delayed reaction to the Savage Raid whine that they couldn't keep up with oGCD heals and had to actually burn GCDs to heal in some encounters.
I'll stick to Reaper as my main, but I always have jobs I level on the side, so Black Mage and Dark Knight will be dragged screaming onto the Trail, lol.
I like to have flashy moves but Viper is too much for me, it just becomes a blur of vfx, and I can't see clearly what the character is doing. I guess it's great for people who always wanted to play as Taz from Looney Tunes.
@@TajinQ I thought he said vfx (visual effects) but maybe i was wrong. Either way you should be able to change it in your settings for yourself and other party members.
While I don't hate current Summoner, probably switching it up to Black Mage in the next expansion. Try something different but still be a caster. I have never mained Black Mage, but I have mained Red Mage, and Picto sounds like the new job to kill my brain. Alternatively Astrologian since the cards have more effects but not back to the 'fish for enhanced/aoe Balance' level. I do appreciate the casual, on-the-ground analysis of the jobs over the analysis of people who eat Ultimates for breakfast telling me everything is boring.

So I have to ask, where/how did the "Dragoon doesn't exist" running joke start?
I can't wait for the day he discovers lancer has a secret job stone
I feel you, Cider. Every expansion I gotta remember how to play every other job not GNB & RPR again before not touching it again once maxed.
2:27 honestly that's pretty much how to play DRK so good job 😂
As a machinist main, I'm so hyped to hear it's as good as ever. Can't wait for the expac!!
0:27 only if you left the visuells active
Guess I'll spend another expansion ignoring Summoner if it's literally just the same endwalker easy mode with some bahamut buffs and a reskin. I miss my ex, but she's changed so much and got so lazy pressing 2 buttons only..
honestly, i am surprised they havent upgraded shield bash yet. like upgrade it to divine shield and give it an aoe or counter for a couple seconds or something. the fact it's so memed on yet not removed is astounding.
.... Small frey? .... Wait! How does that one cutscene play out if you're a lalafell or a hrothga/ roegadyn????
Hmm. Remembered it as Fray taking of helmet, apparently not.
Mad because hotbars
And here I thought I had a deep voice, then I click this video LOL. Well done sir.
As a Black Mage main, seeing this explains so much about why people think it's hard.
Now can do both…)
I change mains every 6 weeks or so.
But I'll be going back to roots and doing BLM first, then PCT, SGE, DRK, RDM, in that order.
Great video, Cider!
I miss whm's aoe dot, Aero III. i loved how it was applied to enemies. it was kinda dumb to remove that for a single target dot instead in my opinion.
2:40 Never knew until this moment that Lala DRK gets a full sized Fray. What a scam
I'm surprised at Monk being considered one of the hardest jobs because I feel like I've just been facerolling my way through it for years, lol. So long as I remembered to Cha Cha Slide, I was doing okay.
Well, all jobs can be facerolled. I think it's the optimal rotation of a job that people use to judge whether a job is hard or not~
Paint. Paint everywhere.
As a dancer main who was interested in viper already, i am now more interested in it
I'm maining Pictomancer.
Easy. 😊
This is misleading for its 90 rotation because it makes it seem like you start in ice phase
In your opinion, what job is easiest to play on the fewest buttons, for like. Controller users?
Summoner, by a long shot.
Apparently Viper has few buttons, cause many combos etc are consolidated to one button. Seems like a controller-friendly job.
im definitely most interested in NIN MNK and VIP, not sure what to level first but im sure ill figure it out lol
actually in high stress scenarios astro ended up with less mobility
seeing Monk's "correct" combo actions being highlighted makes me a *little* sad, but I'll get over it
Oh I seriously doubt they'll actually increase the dmg dealt by Encounters noteably.
I'll stick to Reaper as my main, but I always have jobs I level on the side, so Black Mage and Dark Knight will be dragged screaming onto the Trail, lol.
dude did everyone and there mother get to test the new stuff I swear
Cider mains SCH while I've barely touched it so looking to try that healer class for a change. For sure gonna give VPR a go once DT drops ⚔️
the solar bahamut summon should've been alexander, change my mind
Oh no, I got moogled! I'm an idiot!
seeing as none of my mains got reworked this expac, I look froward to spending several dozen hours fiddling around with Picto on launch.
I like to have flashy moves but Viper is too much for me, it just becomes a blur of vfx, and I can't see clearly what the character is doing. I guess it's great for people who always wanted to play as Taz from Looney Tunes.
He did say the vfx was high early on so you can probably turn those down a bit
@@tripleaaabattery8480 I think you're talking about sfx?
@@TajinQ I thought he said vfx (visual effects) but maybe i was wrong. Either way you should be able to change it in your settings for yourself and other party members.
Melee dancer sounds like the perfect dps.
Staying WHM main but I want to get to know pictomancer well.
**sees thumbnail** Seeing how that's my character's name (Idkwhat Imdoing), I'm gonna fit RIGHT in. lol
