Spreading Ag-Lime

- In an effort to get my field ready for planting a mixture of alfalfa and timothy seed, I am putting down some Ag-Lime using this 10 foot Ford/Dearborn Drop Spreader. It took me about 2 hours to put down 6 tons of material.

I use the same hand signals for the loader. Nice vid.
Cool, thanks!
GREAT video!
Great video sir!
Yeah, I came across a lot of threads mentioning the bridging. But, I did not have any issues with that. The lime was definitely dry. It flowed through the holes like cream. I was very pleased with how it worked. The hospital is not far from here, the volunteer fire department is around the corner in the other direction, and a the mother of a state trooper is up the street. So, a siren of some sort is not unusual :-)
Sure, I'll make the video the next time I am down there and post it shortly thereafter.
woow good video.. Could you be kind enough to show a walk around video of the drop spreader. I cant find any walk around videos on you tube. Keep up the good work. :)
That's what I need , the trucks in this area won't come out for a small amount ,
Looks dry and dusty.I always had trouble with the lime bridgeing over in the hopper but I didnt see you having to stop and poke the lime down....It sounds like my neighbor hood with sirens going down the road.
Thanks so much for posting. Just purchased an old spreader very similar to this. Your video will be very helpful when we use it. How far open did you have the bottom?
The gauge was worn, so I am not able to give you an exact setting. But, I had it open not quite half way.
Thanks. That'll help a lot.
How didnu load it? Shovel or something else?
It was put in the trailer at the quarry with a front-end loader. I transferred it from my trailer to the spreader with my front-end loader. I could dump most of it into the spreader and then finish it off with a shovel.
how many trips to spread 6 ton?
I don't exactly recall, but somewhere around 8-9 trips. That hopper holds quite a bit.
