We had a stretch of unseasonably warm weather, and I took advantage of it to spread damp lime on a bunch of fields. Did it go better than when I spread lime this past Spring?? Watch and find out!

I've never seen one of those charts that was more than a suggestion. They always need to be fine tuned every time you you change material. Beautiful country in fall.
Fall is definitely a beautiful time here, though I don't look forward to what comes after it 🤣 My experience with those charts has been that they are usually pretty close, but because of how bent the handle was this one was way off lol

Well at least you were able to comment, and thank you for taking the time to do that Ed! Not sure what is up with the tubes lately. I'll watch a video on my computer, and go back to the main page with recommended videos on it, and there will be the video I just watched displayed for me as though I didn't watch it! And it will recommend videos that are old on the top row, instead of new ones like it usually does. I could go on, but you have better things to do than to listen to me rant 🤣🤣
@@dehavenfamilyfarm lol.. ya, same issues with the tube.. last night I had a run of three channels.. ten or twenty videos in a row from each one.. at least they we're channels I watch, but they were all videos I've seen 😂🤣

I hope the weather holds, and you are able to get it spread. I didn't think I was going to get any spread this Fall because it had gotten really rainy, but then we had a week of above average temperatures 🙂
That looks pretty much like the lime spreader I used. Sounded like it to. I had the same problem trying to figure out the flow chart to. It's know fair using gps to spread lime. LOL.

We just applied some lime to one of our fields last week though it was only about 12 acers and not on your scale. I think I'm going to look where I live if some one rents a spreader like that for our other fields. Great videos.
Thank you! Other than the bent handle on the rate flow gate, it really was a good deal. The rental company dropped it off and picked it up, which saved me a ton of time, and didn't charge much either 🙂
@@dehavenfamilyfarm ya ain't farming unless something breaks 🤣....yeah, the custom spreader guys here do a great job but its pricy, and we have the tractors but only a small 3 point spreader. So if I can find one to rent that would be great.
Chris, just found your channel. Your CaseIH is two wheel drive. Do you hills on your farm? We are looking for another canned tractor. We are considering two wheel drive with front weights. We have hills. Any recommendations?

I farm on a lot of hills. For what I do (mostly hay), 2wd is fine most of the time. I plan on adding a 4wd in the future, just for the rare occasion when I need one. That being said, I do not do a lot of heavy tillage, or chop corn, etc., so if you are looking to do those types of things on hills, I would buy 4wd. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!!

Since the handle on the adjustment gauge was bent, I am not sure of the exact rate, but it was near 3,000lbs per acre.
DeHaven Family Farm you can prob get ag lime cheaper if you have a limestone quarry near you

Was that granular lime or powdered?
It was damp ag lime.
Measure how much your gate moves between numbers mine is 1in 1 beinga 1in opening and 10 is a ten in opening.
