    Great video, i actually have a 3 pt 500 lb unit I have not used in years. I have the challenge of having a cab on the tractor so I cannot open and close the gate from the tractor. I will leave the gate open and just engage the PTO to spread ,I will just have to have help in lifting the bags into the unit do to my age. Thanks for doing the video. Bob

      Bob, thanks for watching, really appreciate it. You might be able to open the back glass and reach the shut off. I was shocked it worked as well as it did. I actually had my lime in bed and just back the tractor up to it to load.

    Lost half of it in the wind. Thanks for reminding everyone why drop spreaders were invented. 🤣

      If you ever watch lime spreaders spread ag lime, it looks like you’re losing a bunch of it. In all reality, most of it gets to the ground, some of the fine dust does float away, and that’s what you’re seeing in the video.

    I did this on 3 acres. Obviously on a low wind day. One thing to say is I put my spreader as low to the ground as possible. I do this for fertilizer too just seems to be better. Did you come back and disc in the lime? That incorporates it and it doesn’t t run off.

      Yes I did come back and disc it in after I spread it. Worked pretty good for me, I will have a bunch more plots to do this spring.

    Well there. What do you think made the difference? Tractor vibration? Steeper hopper?

      I’ve got a few ideas but I’m not exactly sure…There is a piece of metal that turns on the spreader shaft that is inside the hopper….I think it prevents any material from sitting there, so the lime
      Is always moving and never gets a chance to settle out.

    Did the spreader have the mixer or beater bar inside it or was it removed?

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes it does have a bar at the bottom
      That is turning while the pto is engaged. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Did ur hopper have a agitater in it

    • @DIYfoodplotpro
      @DIYfoodplotpro  Рік тому

      I think it did. It has a small piece of metal that goes around at the bottom of the hopper…I’m assuming that’s the agitator.

      I was pleasantly surprised how it did…I didn’t expect it to be much different than the ranger spreader….boy was I wrong.

    Dude, get pellet lime! I spread about 3 tons a year. Pellet is the way

      Andy thanks for watching, greatly appreciated! I really like Pelletized lime, only bad thing about pelleted lime is it cost a lot of money. I can get a truckload of 23 tons of ag lime for less than $1000. Where Pelletized lime is about $5 a bag. Thanks again for watching!

    That was a joke most of the wind blew away in the air I never seen nothing like it in my life

      Yes sir! It’s amazing how little wind it takes to blow that dust around. Wind was only blowing 5-6 mph. Thanks for watching!
