Giant Virginia Striper on the Fly

- Fishing on the Potomac River you never know what you are going to get. Every year, we fish for Hickory Shad & American Shad on the Fly. However, driving those Shad are Spawning Striped Bass. On this episode, an American Shad takes me for a ride, and turns out to be a huge rockfish that ate a shad on my fly line. In the end, I manage to catch a Huge Striper on the Fly. It was a size 8 shad fly and I was using 0x Mirage Sink Tip. The Fish broke the net it was so big.

Shad fishing is fun, it's just that they run during turkey season, priorities, you know. That was a brute of a striper for the Potomac! Great catch!

Love the video. I am constantly out there on my kayak Crushin hickories an American later in the season just like you guys. I have run into carp and stripers but nothing over 20 inches! I’m sure it will happen someday Dash great video and see you on the water
