It’s a good song for today, it’s about understanding and empathy. What a lot of people have forgotten
True.
Truth but understanding and empathy gets you beat in life just ask our government people of power are not understanding and empathetic
Couldn't have said that any better!
This song came out in the nineties…I’d say they still haven’t learned much in the way of empathy. Just look at the streets of LA if you get my drift.🤷♂️🫤
Well fit is absolutely correct.
He heard the song but wasnt listening. Song strikes the soul of empathy
one of the best songs ever written in my opinion
I know, literally it was said the young girl who got pregnant, her contributor left her no contact to take care of the baby and he's like huh??? What did the guy do??
Nothing
Song is 20+ years old.
Message is just as relevant today.
Next song by everlast has to be "Ends". Another relevant song
Yeah, it released 1998. Timeless, limitless and priceless.
Everlast was in House if Pain. They did that ‘Jump Around’ song.
Gotta check it out! Old banger.
Yeah he had a major heart attack and it made him rethink his life which led him to changing to this.
Everlast has been involved in a LOT of bands. While most famously recognized for his part as the founder of 'House Of Pain', he was part of both La Coka Nostra & Soul Assassins, and a supporting voice in numerous Cypress Hill songs, not to mention worked with several legendary artists such as Carlos Santana.
@@hamishb2194 but he still does that jump around on live shows...
@@papa_alan2824 he does now. He went almost ten years without performing it once. Back then he wanted to seperate himself from it and go with a completely different stylr
Y'all should watch that one again, there is a lot more meaning in it than I think you caught the first time! ❤
ya nd not put he video on top of ur girls face LOL
@@jeffjive Lol Thank ya
Oh yeah. It's about rape, it's about social inequality, it's about your basic structure of life. And it's friggin relevant again
U right
Yeah, you have to listen to this 2 or 3 times to get all of it. It's a really good song.
“You know, where it ends, it usually depends on where you start”. A very true societal observation about the difficulties in breaking the pattern of one’s upbringing.
The song doesn’t necessarily aim to change that, but to bring about compassion for others who may have things tougher than you do.
The end when they are all looking in on the family symbolizes them seeing what a normal life is or should be and how the family eating doesn't "know what its like" to deal with what they delt with
Agreed 💯
I get confused sometimes. Cause it seems like yall ain't listening to the lyrics..lol. "I think she is pregnant"
i know, i had to stop and go 'really?'. but i love that they're jamming out to this. I love this song. if one has time to really listen to all the lyrics it has a very very good message. I get with reactions sometimes there's too much to take in at once. you've got the music, the lyrics, singing/voice and music video.
Right? I was like how did y'all miss the kid tommy stopped calling nd she was pregnant. Her struggle was the choice with abortion and the controversy around it.
right? "why would you wanna cut off a mans balls!???" like they didn't just hear the lyrics before that. ugh..
P.O.D. - Youth Of The Nation is another song with a timeless message. It is rap/rock song 🔥
Subbed from Canada 🤘🇨🇦
The dude ran out on his kid and half is like, "women are cruel!"😆
and a man wrote that lyric lol
Pretty sure neither one of them are really paying attention to the song
End of the second verse “she’s pregnant right?”
Eh. Not anymore. That’s the point
@@UnlicensedOkie real talk, he is not really listening..
They might be listening but they aren’t hearing.
I remember learning how to play the song. It's a great song, still completely relevant. I think it's an important message for everybody. I'm glad you guys did not react to the censored version. Some words have a big impact on the song, it's not the same when they are censored
Everlast has been involved with a staggering amount of bands. While mostly known as the founder of HOUSE OF PAIN, he was started out as the original white rapper as a member of Ice-T's 'RHYME SYNDICATE', went into a rather impressive solo career (working with legends like Carlos Santana), only to be later called back to rap in several supergroups including LA COKA NOSTRA, WARPORN INDUSTRIES, SOUL ASSASSINS and more.
Badass Live Acoustic Performance by Everlast🔥
This song is about being kind to others, because you have no idea what they are going through in their life. "God forbid you'd have to walk a mile in her shoes, then you really might know what its like."
Great Song with a Powerful Message
Heres something you haven't heard... listen to EVERCLEAR Father of mine.... you will love it
My favorite song by Everclear...1st song I ever heard from them and today it still resonates in my heart ❤
No
@ zzz zzz yes
Agree with you completely! That’s a song I’d love for them to hear and see their reaction too.
JESUS CHRIST. THIS SONG I HAVENT LISTENED TO SINCE HIGHSCHOOL AND HEARING IT NOW AS A 35 yr old man with my own 17yr who mother is an absentee mother hits A HELL OF ALOT DIFFERENT
I got this promo a few weeks before it’s release, at my old CD exchange, and new record store. Everlast is a true O.G. This song is truly epic, and I’m glad you two played it. Awesome! Onelove!
That whole album was fire!!!!
I used to play this song all the time I know eminem had beef with him but I still like him
We can't hate people or cancel them just because our fav artists had beefs w them it has nothing to do with their music, if it's good it's good
@kekistani operator yes that's what it was called
Same, fan of both
I listened to "What it's like" and "Ends" all the time when the album was released.
But, you have to admit, that album was a let down. Even though that song was good.
For fans of this song who don’t really know Everlast in general , check out a song from earlier this year called “Slow Your Roll”. Dope song and video ... but lookin’ a lot older 😬
That ending, with the rich/white family in the glass house, while everyone else struggling is looking in. Laughing and eating, with no concept of what all the people on the outside are going through.
I've been trying to get people to react to this song I am so glad y'all did it! It's a great song🥳🌹
Dudes song “ends” is super good too.
Little girl in the beginning is priceless. Love the fact you kept her. Smart move.
"You know where it ends, yo it usually depends on where you start" So true.
I think that the last scene was attempting to convey that the people who were raised in such a family are completely oblivious to the suffering of others, that they dont see what is going on with so many people (looking at the family through the glass window).
This song is deep as hell. Also, It doesn't matter if she's a freak, Half. Cause she's a freak for you! You two have such great chemistry. Keep em coming! Go Heat , F the Fakers!
Everlast- I get by! Everyone can relate!!
My favorite part about this sing is how it tells completely different stories.
This video and channel is about your reaction. Half, it was amazing to see your reaction go from "enjoying the beat" vibe to "listening intently"... twice! This is a solid song, and that message is deep. Thanks for sharing!
The family symbolize the ideal "great American" nuclear family, their privilege blinds them to the realities of the world, they don't know what it's like to be in a position where you lose all you have or have to choose between keeping or terminating a pregnancy or being impacted by social violence...if they did experience these things they might be capable of showing empathy instead of contempt and understand that for most there is a big difference between the idyllic life of privilege and the harsh realities that many in society are faced with. (sorry for my lack of sentence structure!) lol
You're making just as big a sweeping generalization as you accuse them of. Not all nuclear families live a life of "privilege", and not everyone who isn't in one is better off.
@@JakkFrost1 Exactly, having your house in order (particularly at middle age as the scene depicts) does not mean that you are 'privileged' or that you have had everything handed to you on a plate. For this guy to suggest so is completely ignorant of the large number of working class families who work hard to provide a stable family environment (a percentage of which make it into the middle class).
However, it's entirely possible that in the process of working hard to build a family home, such effort and focus can make you prone to forget about the struggles of others. This is what the end of the video says to me, as there is no interaction between the people looking into the window (aspiration?) and the family inside
@@JakkFrost1 100%. This song isn’t just for a mythical perfect family. They don’t really exist. It’s for all of us. Even those of us who struggle still have a tendency to judge others. Beautiful song with a reminder for us to all do better
Ummmmm. It’s for all of us. Show me someone who doesn’t judge others and I’ll show you a liar
Just catching this one a year later. I think y’all missed hearing the lyrics.
“Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom.”
He said he loved her then left her alone and pregnant. Then she got treated like shit for going to the abortion clinic. Hence the wanting to cut off his balls lyric.
Try a few others if you haven’t revisited him.
Black Jesus
White Trash Beautiful
I Get By
Here to ask Half And Jai To React To WHITE TRASH BEAUTIFUL.
Love y’all!
Great reaction im glad to see yall still moving up
The people in the window represent the happy family we ALL wish we had or are a part of, but most can only watch that from the outside because of their circumstances in life which led them away from such a thing in the window..
read the lyrics it explaines it all! beautiful song!
Lead singer is Everlast from the Irish rap group house of pain.
Irish? They're from LA.
That's Whitey Ford, basically, from the song Quitter, by Em, because Everlast dissed Haley, you guys were blown away when you reacted to it.
check out everlast "i get by" or " smokin and drinkin acoustic"
a lot of people dont know that everlast first song was a rap song on a compilation album produced by Ice T
You guys need to react to Everlast - Ends and Everlast - I Get By!!!
This song is about people that people judge and forget they have feelings and hurt like everyone else.
I love everlast..
And this song is just been so much more relevant
1 of my fav songs ever since I was 13.
Changes your life that lyric at that age...for the better!
It's about alot don't know what it's like. And God forbid you learn. But realize some do know what it's like. Show them love.
Everlast song- Smoking and Drinking
You're covering miss Jai with the video, she's why we all watch.
I love the song. Your insight in spot on.
Yeah you guys definitely need to watch it with the lyrics
Love this song!!! Sad that when someone who has everything looks down on others who have very little or nothing. Show Compassion! 🎸⚡⚡⚡
Everlast started with Ice-T's Rhyme Syndicate, then did a solo album, then co-created The House of Pain (a bunch of hits with the first 2-3 albums including; "Jump Around", "Who's the Man" and more), then went solo with this album ("Whitey Ford Sings the Blues"), then did a couple more. Recently they are back together with several others in a group called, "La Coka Nostra", but he still does solo albums.
Fam ,the ending was saying that what is shown behind the window is the perfect life ,with mom dad happy kids all enjoying life ,when on this side of reality ,all these problems are what's really real. Yet this is what we are shown as being "real life on screen". kinda like the brady bunch vs good times in the 1970's tv shows.
I haven’t listened to this song is years but still holds up
He got the answer to his question about why a women would feel that way. God forbid you had to walk a mile in her shoes and have to choose
Holy shit, y'all are the cutest couple ever.
Spot on with yr comments guys 🍻
You covered Jai's face!
Was thinking the same thing! Lol
Another great song by Everlast is Ends
House of Payne...JUMP AROUND...Everlast is awesome 👏
Does anyone else feel like you can hear certain songs/lyrics and really feel like you get it… then hear it again and again over the years and realize you truly do get it now. This song is one of those songs. It’s hard to NOT understand the message from the start but damn the layers to it….
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG IN THE WORLD. Haha. I've loved in since it came out when I was in 8th grade...and it was the original inspiration for me to pursue my career in public service. It made me think.
One of my favorite songs
This is real this video is real life for the many.
Man...I love this song! I listen to it all the time. 😊😊😎😎
The meaning at the end is that sometimes things are not what they seem. You see a happy family but you never know what's going on in their lives.
This song is off the album Whitey Ford Sings the Blues great album
First heard this song as the theme song for a great show called Saving Grace.
Love that show
She is right, Mcdowell's was a thing in Coming to America.
I've heard this song so many times never knew who song it or the name of it until now but i always catch myself nodding my head to great reaction fam 🎶🔥🎶🔥
Luv this song and its still relevant now....also check out "Put Your lights On" Santana featuring Everlast...
"Wonderful" by Everclear!
Everlast was part of the group House of Pain...their song ''Jump Around'' was huge!!
Songs like this have relevance then thru now and most likely into the future
YES!!! I have requested iver 100 first reaction "ppl". Oh its on! Yall are my favorite!! GO GATORS!!!
Look it up Half 👀😁🤩
REAL!!!
Yes, this is a great song! Feel bad for people that have no empathy! Be kind and see people as the humans they are . Above all , love God and his son Jesus!
This entire album was Great check it out, so underrated!
Everlast has a lot of great songs and is still putting out new stuff....check out 'Slow Your Roll, "Dont Complain', 'Dream State', 'Smokin & Drinkin', 'I Get By'
Aye...get yer freak on girl....🤘🤘🤘
That's always been a great song.
This song is so damn good. That's it. That's the comment.
His very first album was a Hip Hop album Everlasting
He was in the Rhyme Syndicate with Ice T..
It was a dope album to me
Everlast from house of pain. Whitey ford album. Loved that album. He made that album after he had open heart surgery. I believe he collapsed in a hotel lobby. That song always gets me
The ending is like not everyone has came from or has the perfect life like a happy successful loving family at the dinner table.
Best song I have heard
Whiteys revenge is everlast diss to Eminem.. do that.
Great song. At 62 I'm thrilled to still hear great Rock like that.
You two are great. Hope you make a million bucks to put that cute kid to college.(probably what it'll cost by then.)
Try the band "Shine down" either "Save me" or "second chances"
Both powerful songs.
It’s what people try to be at. Happy with a great family and financial steady with food on the table. That’s what they were looking at. And they are no where near it.
Great job with your reaction to What's It's like from Everlast . I don't know if you All know the person who singing this song was the front person for(HOUSE Of PAIN ) HOW BROUGHT YOU THE SONG JUMP AROUND .
Great song
They still make music.
His two solo albums were both really good.
That boy was a dawg
Respect
Their song Black Jesus is GREAT
One of legendary country singer Waylon Jennings's grandsons. Everlast, Bubba Sparxx, Struggle Jennings, and Shooter Jennings are all cousins
DAYUM! I did not know that - wow.
@@Kim-hc5si That's because it's not true. Hold on. Everlast (Erik Schrody) isn't related to any of those people. Bubba Sparxxx (Warren Mathis) is also not related to any of those people. He has, however, worked with Yelawolf whose mixtape had an appearance by Struggle Jennings. Struggle Jennings (William Harness) has a grandmother who was married to Waylon Jennings. He is also Shooter Jennings' nephew. Shooter Jennings (Waylon A. Jennings) is the "other" Waylon Jennings' son.
@@kingbrutusxxvi Ahhh. There we have it. Thanks for that! 🌈TheMoreYouKnow
The poor man was begging with shame in his eyes, instead of helping he was told get a job you slob, if you were that beggar you might know what its like to sing the blues. The young girl thought she was in love, got pregnant, the guy ran off, and as she went to the abortion clinic she was called a sinner and a killer, if you were that girl you might know what its like to have to choose. Max thought he was tough on the street trying to get money for his family and was killed, the wife and kid woke up to find out he was dead, if you were that wife and kid you might know what its like to lose someone or something important in your life. It is all about putting yourself in someone elses shoes. It is all about empathy.
This is House of Pain, the dude. “Jump Around”? Same guy
I actually was in high school, traded slim shady album for whitey Ford sings the blues, no lie
Hey cuties..have a beautiful day!!
Everlast said he was the guy in the first verse telling the old man to get a job. He felt bad about it afterward and wrote this.
