    “You know, where it ends, it usually depends on where you start”. A very true societal observation about the difficulties in breaking the pattern of one’s upbringing.
    The song doesn’t necessarily aim to change that, but to bring about compassion for others who may have things tougher than you do.

While most famously recognized for his part as the founder of 'House Of Pain', he was part of both La Coka Nostra & Soul Assassins, and a supporting voice in numerous Cypress Hill songs, not to mention worked with several legendary artists such as Carlos Santana.

    Everlast has been involved with a staggering amount of bands. While mostly known as the founder of HOUSE OF PAIN, he was started out as the original white rapper as a member of Ice-T's 'RHYME SYNDICATE', went into a rather impressive solo career (working with legends like Carlos Santana), only to be later called back to rap in several supergroups including LA COKA NOSTRA, WARPORN INDUSTRIES, SOUL ASSASSINS and more.

    The family symbolize the ideal "great American" nuclear family, their privilege blinds them to the realities of the world, they don't know what it's like to be in a position where you lose all you have or have to choose between keeping or terminating a pregnancy or being impacted by social violence...if they did experience these things they might be capable of showing empathy instead of contempt and understand that for most there is a big difference between the idyllic life of privilege and the harsh realities that many in society are faced with. (sorry for my lack of sentence structure!) lol

    • @JakkFrost1
      @JakkFrost1 4 роки тому +3

      You're making just as big a sweeping generalization as you accuse them of. Not all nuclear families live a life of "privilege", and not everyone who isn't in one is better off.

    • @ikonodroid9189
      @ikonodroid9189 4 роки тому +2

      @@JakkFrost1 Exactly, having your house in order (particularly at middle age as the scene depicts) does not mean that you are 'privileged' or that you have had everything handed to you on a plate. For this guy to suggest so is completely ignorant of the large number of working class families who work hard to provide a stable family environment (a percentage of which make it into the middle class).
      However, it's entirely possible that in the process of working hard to build a family home, such effort and focus can make you prone to forget about the struggles of others. This is what the end of the video says to me, as there is no interaction between the people looking into the window (aspiration?) and the family inside

    I'm an advocate for veterans and ppl don't realize the real statistics. ONE in every FOUR homeless men is a veteran. Maybe instead of lookng down on homeless ppl~they should salute when they see them. You never really know who you are looking at on our streets. Odds are pretty high that the person you are passing by IS actually someone who fought for your freedom to sleep safely in YOUR BED at night. Just something to think about and put into better perspective about our homeless issue folks. #WW2ArmyAirCorpsMPsDaughter

    Great song. At 62 I'm thrilled to still hear great Rock like that.
    You two are great. Hope you make a million bucks to put that cute kid to college.(probably what it'll cost by then.)
    Try the band "Shine down" either "Save me" or "second chances"
    Both powerful songs.

    The image of the "perfect family" that society says that we are supposed to have. So when we don't achieve that "perfection" we feel that we're failures in the eyes of society. At least that's what I get from it.

    I’m a massive Eminem fan...borderline Stan even. Have luckily seen him in concert...but...some of my first concerts as a teenager was cypress hill and house of pain...he is a outstanding MC and also singer and song writer. Check out warporn industries and La Coka Nostra...some of the newer rap groups ever last has been a part of.

    The girls heads to the clinic, she gets some static walking through the door, they call her a killer, a sinner, and a who're. then you may know what it's like to have to choose. She was thinking about getting an abortion since the guy won't be there anymore to help. She blames him.

    If you're watching the official video, which it looks like you are, they have the lyrics in the description of the video. That way there's no chance to misinterpret what's being sung.
