An incredible car with a simple yet effective design, outstanding engineering, and remarkable software. Plus, it doesn't come with exorbitant service costs. Truly a marvel of modern technology.
The second row in many EVs is often impractical due to a significant issue: the elevated floor caused by the battery pack located at the bottom of the car. This design results in a poor seating position, offering minimal thigh support and overall discomfort, especially for taller passengers. Individuals over 5' may find the seating position particularly uncomfortable, making long journeys less pleasant. This design flaw underscores the need for manufacturers to innovate in battery placement or cabin ergonomics to enhance passenger comfort in future EV models.
I find my S Plaid is my go-to vehicle. It's fun, fast, and can drive itself. With the latest update, I am confident of its movements, at least here in the US.
I have a 2017 100D. (Long range, no performance), just HW2.5 and not even done the MCU2/HW3 upgrade yet and am so impressed with all it does from acceleration to FSD that I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in a new HW4 Plaid. It's next on my bucket list.
One misconception about chill vs sport vs plaid mode: it just digitally limits the power curve, it doesn’t change anything physical in the motors or anything like that. They can totally push a software update which unlocks full power at the very end of the accelerator pedal’s range of motion while still in chill mode if they wanted to.
Good review. Stock wise, the 19" wheels and tires are quicker than the larger diameter stock wheels and tires. Although the stock 21" wheels and tires look great, they're heavier (maybe about 45 lbs?) and have a higher moment of inertia which will affect acceleration. The seats look great, that looks like the most significant update. I have a 2022 Plaid and I favor the yoke but didn't like the horn and turn signal set up. When the yoke was replaced under warranty due to material degradation, I was pleasantly surprised to get the new yoke with the horn in the center, that's where it should have been originally. Also the haptic touch pads seem to be so much better than before.
21s are better looking and better preforming since you need them to get the track pack brakes. The 19s look horrible. Skinny bike tires. No ps4s. Can’t fit big ceramic brakes.
@@kcw9313 Not true, apparently you haven't watched the Tesla Plaid Channel. He does drag races with his Plaid and uses the stock 19" wheels and tires. He tried all kinds of different wheel and tire combinations and he swears by the stock 19". Also go to the Tesla Forum, they say the same thing. In fact, the best results have been with 18" wheels (not stock). Also, the Tesla carbon ceramic brakes are compatible with several brands of 20" wheels. The Tesla Track Pack uses 20" wheels and tires which are lighter than the OEM 21" wheels (see what Brooks did with his new Plaid on DragTimes). I have the Tesla Zero G wheels and tires but will go with either Unplugged Performance or RB Performance carbon ceramic discs because I want to use 19" wheels for long road trips. The Track Pack tires seem to reduce the range by a lot, maybe 15%.
@@TheAeroegg so are you able to to unlock the speed limit from Tesla even if you show them that you have upgraded to better wheels and carbon ceramic brakes?
@@thesupermaninthecloud6856I haven't bought and installed the aftermarket rotors yet. When I do, I'm pretty sure Tesla won't upgrade the track pack software, I'd have to buy the Tesla rotors and calipers and they would have to install it. That's OK, the Plaid is plenty fast enough for me.
You can put a plastic scotch round little sticker (like These that we put under the chairs to avaid noise) on the upper turn signal button ,it workes well 🤗
The design has aged well, but I wish Tesla invested in a complete reskin. The chassis, battery, tech and new interior could all have remained but the perceived 'old' design I think will hold back sales. The same story with the X which arguably needs it even more.
Just buy the FSD for 1 month, and all the stuff that you talked about, consistency, leaning away from the opposite traffic, Not needing to hold the steering wheel, and very best for the urban areas. Improvements needed are during double lane left turns etc. I only buy the FSD only when I am doing a long trip (costs me $99 per month) and turn it off when I don't need it. All lane changes are automatic, and it will move to slower lane if there is a car coming behind you. you can also control if you don't want to change lanes often or more often etc. you can also ask use your turn signal to ask the car to change the lane and it will do so, by itself. I think there is a lot of difference between Auto pilot and FSD. At Level 4 Tesla chargers you can charge your tesla to 184km range in just 5 mins.
Funny that the AI voice translation fails for some of the speeds, especially since it isn't even the confusing ordering (for english speakers, that is) like sechsundzwanzig or something, but just 270 which is said in the same order in german and english

Overall, nice video. Remarks: 1: the AI translation is still pretty bad. 2:I don`t know which FSD version is on the car, but at all points where you said you had to take over, the car can do it no problem if you only just give it another second, like the merge at 22:00.
S/X are low volume, perhaps they just dont feel it would be "worth it" to impliment ambient lighting. Since the mid-2022 "refresh", which was when they added the matrix headlights, redesigned taillights, rear hatch and upgraded infotainment computer, the only changes to the Palladium cars since was HW4 and the Plaid Seats. They also never put in the effort to make the palladium cars Right hand drive. I love the S and X. I hope Tesla doesnt stop building them, but I also have to acknowledge that they have put little effort and attention into the S and X.

Nah, I like this car better. More room and nicer interior. With that said, I feel that the interior can go up a level and be a bit more posh. Also, I feel like the Plaid line needs to be a bit more different from the regular models. Kinda like AMG with Mercedes or the M line with BMW. Those are more sporty looking, better wider wheels, etc. you can easily tell the base model vs the AMG or M line. Make the front look more aggressive and add a nice defuser at the back. Make wheels specifically for the Plaid.

If persistently trying to go at full speed in a region with no speed limits and low traffic of bigger distances, the car will only charge at 70kW for many hours until battery is cooled down. The acceleration at above 200 kmh will also lose much of its power. I've never had this issue in Baden-Württemberg due to low speed limits and traffic congestion. It's mostly in the East that you will have an opportunity to experience this.
That sound weird but i much prefer the new model 3 design, so much cleaner, also you get a lot of acceleration for less because the car is lighter and needs less power, for me model 3 is perfection and I love that the cybercab design is based on model 3.
I drove the Model S and Model 3 Performance (Highland) back to back. Model 3 is nowhere near the Model S on any parameter. Model S is soooo much nicer, more comfortable and a lot more practical. Side by side the Model S also looks a lot better. Not that the Model 3 Performance looks bad.

I believe if you take away the acceleration you are left with a very basic car for the money. I test drove an older model S and in person every inside trim felt unpolished like you would find in a van. This is not a luxury limousine by any means.
