You don't see this documentary/video essay type of media often from Poketubers and if you do they're usually badly done. But you nail these every time, it really stands out. I have the early version of the Deluxe Essential Handbook containing the Fearow/Spearow error. Also in one of the Essential Handbooks, Rufflet is listed as like, 21 feet tall. These books get crazy man.

The real mistake is people saying stuff like "Johto Pokémon" or "Sinnoh Pokémon" when what they really mean is "2nd-gen Pokémon" or "4th-gen Pokémon." Like... things like Pichu, Bellossom, or Scizor are not really tied to Johto at all? They were just introduced in the second generation. A Pikachu in Kanto or Hoenn or anywhere else is going to lay eggs that hatch into Pichus, and it's not just the Glooms in Johto that that can evolve with a Sun Stone. Same deal with Azurill, Budew, Tangrowth, Dusknoir, every Eevee evolution after the first three, etc... none of those are "region specific" in any way so it makes no sense to call them "[region] Pokémon." It wasn't until we started getting regional variants (Alolan, Galarian, etc.) that we actually had "[region] Pokémon." (And it's not even just the babies and new evolutions for previously existing families. Houndour, Murkrow, and Slugma can only be caught in *KANTO* in the original Gold/Silver/Crystal games so they definitely weren't "Johto Pokémon!")
I really appreciate the editing in this video. It completely avoids the bloated intro sequence that most gaming youtubers include, it has a nice blend of scripted content and live recordings, it has strong visual theming, fast pacing, doesn't drag on and on.
The vibes in this video are impeccable. The fast pace but super casual style with overlapped editing, leading into a chill 20 seconds at the end. I've never heard of this channel but I hope there are a lot more videos like this

Seeing every error though shows how much I didn't realize was broken in these 😂 I started following along with my own book :)

As a kid I had a Gen II handbook. All I remember was Mantine having the moves "Confuse", "Ray Attack" and "Wing." I like the idea that they got Confuse Ray and Wing Attack mixed up, possibly because its a Manta Ray pokemon. The move "Wing" always made me laugh super hard for some reason.
Now that I think about it, it is kinda odd how the more Pokémon are included in these handbooks the LESS errors their is. You’d think it’d be the other way around

My favorite was an old book from gen 3, specifically meant to show off all the normal and psychic type Pokémon specifically. I remember it having a pronunciation guide which was different from the one in the ultimate handbook, and i also remember it listing azumarill as a normal type. Azurill was a pure normal type, which would evolve into Marill, a pure water type, the azumarill, a dual normal and water type. I legitimately thought azumarill was a dual type until gen 6 when it got changed to fairy, and only learned it wasn’t a normal type in gen 5 and earlier a couple years ago

I think my favourite error I’ve ever found was in a Pokémon handbook I bought at a scholastic book fair, and it listed Kadabra as a poison/flying type. Never been able to get over how funny that is to me, even ten years later

I actually hope that you did mod the Normal type to Donphan (whoch make sense, since Donphan spent a lot of time learning only Normal-type moves by level up) and the Fire type on Coalossal.
To anyone who has the Essential handbook (2012), on bulbipedia it says there is an error for Groudon where it says Hammer Armor instead of Hammer Arm. Mine doesn’t have that error, does yours?
