  • When my mom's tri-coloured mickey mouse platies (also known as golden moon platies) gave birth to some fry, I decided to film them growing up! I filmed very frequently at the start as they changed so rapidly, but later grew up much slower so the updates became further apart.
I normally do a voiceover if I can, but after adding the music first as I usually do, I loved the simplicity of it and felt a voiceover would take that away. So I kept it a relaxing video!

    FAQS:
Q: How many fish tanks do I have?
A: Two! But you will often see me filming some of my mom's tanks.
    Q: Will I ever get a betta sorority/breed bettas?
A: Nope and nope! Both require a lot of work, money, and time to perfect- neither of which I'm willing or able to provide!
Q: How do you name your fish?
A: Sometimes I'm inspired by a character in a show or movie, or someone in real life like a celebrity. More often than not, however, I literally just choose whatever pops into my head- its like names I love but would never name my future children for whatever reason haha

Beautifully done. Did you isolate the female? I've only managed to rescue one fry, so far.

My 3 adult platies did not ever attempt to eat the fry and seemed scared of the fry. The fry would eat first and the adults would hide until they were done. The younger adult made friends first and by day 3 they were chilling together...is this normal😅😅

The first signs of color or markings can appear within a week, but the bold color usually takes a couple months!

My platy fish have gave birth in nov. 25 now its feb. 27 although they grew, but at their current size, they're still able to be eaten by adult fishes, what should i do to make them grow faster?

I’m not sure if there’s much you can do to make them grow faster besides feeding them a food made specially for fry, or of a better quality if possible, that might give them a nutrient boost? If not I’d just make sure they have lots of plants and ornaments to hide an and around to try to avoid them being eaten as much as possible.

What’s the quickest way to grow platy fry

As far as getting platy to breed, they are very good at that on their own, so that you don’t have to worry about! For the fry themselves, making sure they have a lot of coverage to hide (live plants and floating moss is best), separating them from other fish if you want to ensure more will be safe, and feeding them either food specialized for fry to flakes that have been crushed up extremely small so that they don’t have to rely solely on foraging! Those are what worked for me!

in what tank size we can keep 6 of these?

I’d say around 10-20gallons as a minimum, 20 is best!

Definitely go for 20 gallons. Platys were my first fish and I had 3 in a 10 gallon and was quickly overwhelmed with fry. Platys can get up to 3 inches so 6 adults alone would produce a lot of bio waste. Love these little guys though!
