Great Video David, totally agree with the charter price range and never judge a book by its cover, I think I told you the story, I was with the owner of AWOL and his buddy that at the time owned a PJ 120', we were at the Cannes Yacht hating Festival looking at a specific toy and we were asked to move on. Boss and his buddy were wearing old t-shirts, flip flops and swimming trunks, I couldn't believe what I had witnessed, the guy had no idea what he had done.
It doesn't need to be expensive toys either some people are just "snobs" I went for a new Ford Mustang when they came out in the UK (£35k) I went in in my scruffs as i'd been working on the house and nipped out at lunch. There the sales person blanked me at first when i finally dragged him to talk to me he told me I couldn't possibly afford one but maybe i'd like to look at one of the 2nd hand fiesta's in the used car area they have sub 5k cars....... needless to say a different garage got the sale.
Thanks for the shout-out David. Yes, I was professional crew from 1986 to 2000, going from spotty teen steward in Antigua, onto large superyachts, then to being a skipper working all over the world. Now shore based.
Warm, professional and to the point -- I so much enjoyed his videos. I learned so much, I had no idea. Yachting is so complex, like having a good idea of what you need now and of the future and sustainability requirements.

I was watching this video, and it reminded me of a surprise on another video, I can't remember if it was Aquaholic or Nautistyles, that the charter price doesn't include fuel, food, or drinks. Literally just the vessel and crew. So the final price could be a great deal more.
The perfect yacht for me is a 75 - 100ft sailing yacht with Malcom McKeon exterior and Sinot interior design; everything else for a single / my current stage in life is simply too big.
There's also a reason why support vessels have become so popular.
Sure more volume (aka a bigger yacht) gives you more amenities and options but can also make you feel more lonely. Plus you should also bear in mind port limitations and draft depending on where you plan to go.

I think that the best excuse to own a super yacht instead of chartering one is the fact that you can choose the crew that best fit your and your family's ways instead of having a broker guessing what it is what best suits you. Also thinking about the crew, and I concur about having a great time if the crew is happy, I personally would choose the biggest super yacht I could afford so it has enough crew for them to be able to rotate within the day in some of the chores.

Welp straight off the Hop i could no way afford a dockline let alone one these marvels of engineering and Beauty, So with that said ive not ment many folks who just love boats from Doublewide jon boats to a Nordhaven with flooper stoppers as well as M/Y TIS by far in my opion one most elgant yachts ive ever seen,Anyway always enjoy both of ur channels hope to see ta a show 1 day.Safe boating David

Thanks for the great content! Do you have a way of superimposing the size of a yacht say over a football field to give us a reference to how huge some of these luxury ships are? A 77-meter yacht looks like the same size as a 160-meter yacht in the big water! Regardless, love your videos.

Restoring sounds ecologically friendly to me; it seems to be a trend these days due to global warming and the economic crisis... Sunseeker 55 yep, I could have a lot of fun on that one...
I wonder what the wealthy people do if they are interested in yachting but require some medical treatment on a regular basis (several times per week). There are no yachts with a hospital room as far as I have seen in the past years. ... Beside of maybe 1 or 2.
And regarding conversion of commercial vessels into a private yacht (like Ragnar), why no one ever converted a 80m+ Catamaran ferry into one.
Maybe, if you keep the engines, the fuel costs might be too high. But the space a Cat could offer would be nice. On the car deck you could put some nice cars, other toys and convert the rest into crew space or other storage and if you have 2 passenger decks this would offer as well a huge space for accommodation, cinema, office, salon,...
I can't afford a yacht right now but it's likely I'll own a 40-50ft at some point. I'd never waste a brokers time, but I expect an official dealer to let me build my dream. Sunseeker failed with my wife, while Princess, Fairline & the former Sealine were all amazing. Sealine were by far the best who remembered me at Southampton and London boatshows. My wife said when we were ready, that guy and sealine would at least get a fair chance.

David, If I'm going to buy open sport yacht like Superhawk 55... believe me I'll go for Riva 52 Rivale on the second hand market - I consider it as far superior! Or ideally 63 Virtus gorgeous yacht!

People that care about brands and appearance above all, are most often not wealthy.
Hearing the story about the rich man in a basic Ford truck and muddy clothes was funny and I knew a very wealthy man like that. He only wore overalls and work boots, and drove basic trucks, not even the loaded models. He had 4 grown children when he passed away, and he didn't leave them anything. He left his entire estate to his 8-year-old grandson, his will read that he left his entire estate to his 8-year-old grandson because he was the only family member he had that wanted to come spend time with him without asking him for anything. I'm not sure exactly how much money he had, It was a lot, but his grandson got it, and his beautiful 48,000+acre untouched piece of land that is now a Florida wildlife management area. His grandson grew up knowing his grandfather loved that land and never wanted it developed, so he sold it to the State of Florida for close to $70 million dollars with the stipulation that it be turned into a State wildlife management area so that it can never be built on. Now everyone can go and enjoy it.
Great informative video as usual, but fyi Nick (aquaholic) no longer works with sunseeker . This was his reply when I asked him why he hadn’t done a review on the sunseeker 100 yacht . Seems they’ve had a little fall out .
Thanks for watching. The video that Nick made was not really for Sunseeker as such, it was a review of a refit that somebody made of an old Superhawk 34.

@@paulfrost4678 I agree. Nick filmed a Cinderella story of a boy transforming his toy. Nick’s friend loves his boat and his tinkering project. You see how an old boat with good bones can be totally reborn as sexy and new. The excitement of the project reminds me of a teenage boy rebuilding his first car. RED stands for Realize Every Dream and David’s reference shows that all of us who love boats can relate.

David, you always talk about buying a boat and before it was Metal Shark, which is owned by one of the founders of Trinity Yachts, whom you declared dead in a video and was an executive at MarineMax, but now you are onto Intrepid and you also looked at Cruisers, which is owned by MarineMax as well. Next you will tell us you are looking at Aquila. Just ribbing you. I know that you are a salesman at heart and I do hope you actually purchase a boat and not just tell us you are as a means of marketing a brand your parent company owns. I also hope you get a big employee discount.
I guess it's true that you don't get wealthy by buying any and everything.
