LOUD! Vance & Hines Twin Slash Slip Ons Sound and Review on Harley-Davidson Softail Standard 107

- In this video I review my new Vance & Hines twin slash slip ons on my 2021 Harley-Davidson Softail Standard. These slip ons are on another level! the sound is incredible. These pipes are fitted with the standard baffles, you can also get competition baffles to pack a little bit more punch but I don't think it's worth it. You can also get quiet baffles if you want to respect the neighbours a bit.
I will soon be comparing these with the Eliminator 300 Slip Ons which are fitted to the Ol'Mans 2018 Heritage Classic 114.
If you enjoyed this video and it helped you decide on this exhaust please let me know in the comment section bellow

After sitting on one at a dealer and watching this video, I want a Softail Std. for sure.
I like the Vance &Hines shorties. I met Terry Vance back in the 70's. Started w/ drag bikes.
5:55 some of the best motorcycle video visual that I have ever watched. The colours from the sunset just perfect. The video was awesome nice work 👍👏
Thanks buddy, it sure was a beautiful sun set!
This has to be one of the best videos for capturing the sound in its full glory. Absolutely well made video and the POV is the best.. the sound and landscapes.
Thanks very much indeed 👍🏼👍🏼
Ahh, something special about that v twin sound. Nice.
Thank you buddy, For sure
Just put the same pipes on my 2018 Harley Deluxe. Love it! As you said, they give it the old Harley sound. Thanks for all your great videos and the beautiful views of the country. I’d simply say to anyone considering these pipes, you just got to hear them in person for the full awesome effect!
Awesome ! Yes they give the right sound a Harley should make 💯
I didn't know why but it's so crazy (and cool) to see a Harley video from the UK!!!
There’s plenty on this channel buddy!
I installed the V&H 3" Twin Slash slip-ons with the quiet baffles just today on my '09 XL1200C. I absolutely love the new sound and the engine seems to run much better too. I swear there's a little more power than before. No tune or anything. Whether it's sitting idling, accel, decel, or cruising, the bike seems so much more alive and it's a thrill. I wish I had installed these mufflers years ago. The lion is finally out of the cage. The baffles were a little difficult to install. I used a lot of WD40 sprayed inside the muffler before I started pushing them in. I found that twisting them as they go in helps a lot. It took me a bit over 3 hours to install the set myself. I never did this before.
Awesome! They can be a bit tight to get on!
The ST standard is way underestimated, best looking in the range imo.
I trashed my Vance and Hines a few days ago because they refused to sell me a quiet baffle for my 2 into 1 Competition pipe and built my own system. I'm really liking it like yours. It just feels good under you. New videos Sunday or Monday. That was an awesome video by the way.
Gosh! Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
Just wanted to thank you for the work you put into this video and the comparison video you did with the Eliminator slip-ons. Very helpful to me and others. I am wanting the Big Shots Staggered for my 2022 Low Rider S, but the Harley Tuner I need to keep it under warranty is on back order for 5 months, so I have ordered a set of these Twin Slash to use until the tuners are accessible. Thanks for helping me decide between all the slip-on options.
Awesome buddy, glad you found it helpful!
I put the same pipes on my 107 Heritage and put V&H quiet baffles in them a short time later. They are a bit quieter at idle but seem just as loud with the throttle open. The torque cam I had the dealer put in really brings back the old time Harley idle as well! Nice Standard there!
Good call Darcy, they sound amazing
Thanks buddy!
Thanks. I'm in the market for pipes, but need to hear what they sound like. You provided a lot more video, for which I am grateful.
Great thanks. Check out our other exhaust videos 👍🏼
V twins and V8s the soundtrack of the American road. Hell yeah fella.
Absolutely, love it!
Those pipes are sick. I’m looking at them for my 2019 Heritage Classic 114. Thanks for the great video (and audio 😃).
Thanks buddy. Yea they sound really nice 👍🏼👍🏼
Sounds awesome! Looking forward to installing them on my 2022 Heritage Classic 114 I'm picking up!
Sport bike rider here for the most part but that v twin sounds so relaxing🔥
Yes definitely 👍🏼
What an astonishing sound, I love it, too!
Thank you!
been waiting for this one well done..
Thanks buddy
“I don’t really care about that “ 😂😂😂😂. Been waiting for this video ! Those exhausts look spot on for your bike. Have fun mate 👊
Thanks mate! Done a comparison video between the eliminators too. So that’ll be an interesting one to watch!
Sounds and looks great!
I had a 15 street bob with crusher slip ons and they had a nice rumble too but yours sound extra nice. Wish I never got ride of it for a road king. Stay safe happy riding
Looks and sounds perfect 👍
Thanks man!
Looking at getting the same ones for my sportster in the black. They sound so good. I am a little concerned for the neighborhood but at the end of the day I only ride through the neighborhood when coming or going. Also the black twin slash just look 👀 amazing!
Just bought a set. Thanks for the review.
Awesome, you won’t regret it!
Great vlog ..bike sounds amazing lad love this channel
Thank you very much!
Hello, my original battery needs to be changed..Any suggestion for a better brand that lasts longer? Thanks
Awesome sound man! And they look the part too!! Great decision! Looking forward to seeing that comparison... although to tell you the truth, this sound is hard to beat :) Congrats on your bike and exhaust selection :)
Thank you buddy, much appreciated. The comparison is filmed so will be soon!
No sense in asking how much loader are your pipes vs the ole mans .I'll be waiting on the edge of my seat for that video. It was fantastic to watch the premier league Saturday morning here in the state an finally see fans. Man U looked brilliant
It’ll be coming very soon, we’ve filmed it! I don’t actually follow the football
Lovely growl... it wakes up your primeval self.
Thanks, it sure does!
Are these the newer PCX slip ons v&h is selling or the older style?
Dude it looks like you live in paradise.
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Looks a lot better, too. Slimmed down the exhaust.
My thoughts exactly!
Sounds awesome 👍🏻
Thanks buddy!
Sounds bloody great. Tempted to get myself a Softail Standard now 😅
You should! Thanks bud
Sounds unreal man!
Thanks man!
Sounds great 👍
Thanks buddy
I have a 2020 standard with S&S slip ones. They sound slightly quieter but deeper than the V&H. Either way the slip on option is a great way to go. i will have to pop into Sycamore and say hello. Got my 48 from there a couple of years ago. I think Chris is there now, from Newmarket.
Darn good review man, I’m getting a set.
Thanks man, you won’t regret it!
I've got V n H on my Triumph Thunderbird LT , sound great , you may find that you will get rust coloured staining coming out of them after a while , it's the condensation from the motor corroding the internals , if they are made the same as mine they are made from mild steel , if they are SS it won't be a problem , all I did to cure it was paint the inside with a rattle can with simonize tough paint, that was a couple of years ago now , not had the problem since ,ride safe .
YO!!! put on same pipes ..sound great!! that is some nice roads and views over there ! I am in U. S .A .. Be safe and happy riding !!
Awesome! Thanks buddy 👍🏼👍🏼
now eagerly waiting on the comparison of the 300's any chance of you doing all the gears...
I loved my Vance & Hines slip-on but unfortunately they said they won't be making any for the new Indian Chief. I ended up going with Dean Speed so I'll see how they work when they arrive.
Dude I love it!
Thanks dude! It sure roars
How about the jekyll&hyde slip on's in comp to the vance&hines
You must love those because you seem to drive a bit more aggressively now, to hear them. New bad boy in town? 😃
Very true haha it makes you want to open it up more!
My pipes are unbaffled Race Tech. My neighbors (very few where I am ) annoy me w/ their stony scilence. 😆🤣
Ahaha brilliant, that’s how we do it!
Sound awesome 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks buddy
I'm so jealous of the amazing scenery and winding roads in this video. Where I live in Southern Ontario Canada, it's totally flat as far as you can see in every direction and all the roads are straight. It's so boring. The best we can do is find a river and follow that if the road is paved.
Ahh that’s a big difference 👍🏼
Sound great. If you ever get a chance to do a comparison with the Straightshots or the Double Barrel Staggered, it would be much appreciated. I expect making your new pipes bark so much is gonna up your gas consumption somewhat ... but it'll probably get back to normal once the novelty wears off. Enjoy.
Yes true haha, it’s worth it for the smiles! I will if I get the chance 👍🏻
With the pipes added is it still a2 legal
Your pipes look and sound brilliant. Ride safe!
Thank you buddy!
Sounds awesome
Thanks buddy!
Getting these V & H slash cuts pipes fitted this week on my new 2021 Softail Standard. Few bricklayers in the street so will take things as quiet as I can in and out of the neighbourhood.
Awesome! Haha you won’t hear the wolf whistles over the exhaust pipes. But they’re not allowed to do that now anyway
Are you putting O2 sensor bypasses on?
Personally if I own the Softail Standard. I’d go with Cobra Speedster 909s, Cobra El Diablo or a TBR exhaust.
Yes also very good 👍🏼
Sounds much better
Looks good and sounds great Darcy 👍. Stay safe
Thanks mate!
Such a beauty of a bike. Nice sound! Want to keep the Mid's? If zou keep them, put on the screaming eagle heavy breather and done.
Will defo be keeping the mids I think 👍🏻😎
Sounds sweet bud 👌🏻
Thanks buddy
Just picked up my 2022 Softail Standard..Did you put a tuner in and change air filter with exhaust?
I have a restricted license so no I didn’t 😉 monster sucker air filter is good, diag 4 is the software my local dealer uses but there are other tuners that you can use at home. Vance and Hines have just launched the FP4 tuner
much, much better, your baby finally sounds good :)
Thanks man, oh yeah! 🔥
I have the Eliminator 300's and i removed the baffles for them to be louder. I have noticed the twin slash are louder when getting on the gas and the Eliminator 300's are louder when letting off the gas.
Yes there are definite differences 👍🏼👍🏼 have you seen our comparison video between the two?
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yes i have and i bought the 300's to not be too obnoxious but still loud and dound they weren't loud so i removed the packing and did a review comparison with and without and after a season with them found they are louder when letting off the gas but not so much when on the gas and it seems the twin slash were probably better for me.
Great video which has helped me decide on the Twin Slash, the existing slip ons have O2 sensors, do the Twin Slash ones have the hole for the sensors to go back?
Thanks buddy! No they don’t, you need to use a tuner like Vance and Hines FP4 or diag 4. This will do a stage 1 tune and will turn the rear sensors off so you can disconnect them.
Great video, good idea having your house in the background, I notice you have no neighbours to piss off. Nice bike but too noisy for me.
Fair enough, the quiet baffles make it a bit more subtle. Yes no neighbours near my mansion 😎
Yeah, keep the baffles in. You don't want it shattering all those windows!
@@splodge5714 I will, it’s perfect as it is. No don’t want that happening… again!
perfect bike. I might change the seat but nothing else.
That’s the only thing I want to do next!
Ok, I want a set for my new FXLRS I just picked up this week! I didn’t hear you say, but I’m guessing slip ons don’t require a tune? Idk, my low rider s has a completely different air cleaner than the softail standard, so not sure?
Awesome buddy, depends what model year is the bike?
Hi, awesome sound. I went to revisit the video that your dad did when he put his Eliminator baffles on. Did you check the noise level with a db meter? Really interested to see how they compare noise wise.
No we didn’t unfortunately, we did line them up side by side and test them thoroughly
Yeah man!!! Sounds 👍great.
Cheers mate!
Great video. Nice pipes! Just wondering what your height is and if you have the ol'man's genes in terms of your tallness? Reason I ask is because it appears you have the stock seat on the Softail and other reviews say that the rider ergos are cramped due to the rider triangle (bars, pegs seat). People are saying its really cramped and uncomfortable for taller riders. I'm 5' 11".
Just wondering what your experience has been??
Hi buddy, I’m 6’1” and I have no issues with comfort. I find it very comfortable and plenty roomy, you’ll be absolutely fine! I have since changed the seat to a badlander 2 up seat.
Hey !! Just curious ..Went for a ride today on my 2022 Softail Standard...Lost my indicator lights then they came back on..Orange check engine light came on and stayed on...Bike only has 200 miles on it...Read maybe a gas cap can be a cause but not taking any chances...Back to dealership it goes to be checked..You ever heard of this issue?
Thanks
No not heard that. I’m sure it’s nothing serious 👍🏼👍🏼 could possibly be a false error code
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Are you still bridled A2 with these twin slashs? And how did they do for the euro 5 probes? thank you
I have a question. I wonder if I take EL300 from 2019 Lowrider into 2022 FXST , Is that possible?
I’d check with your Harley dealership. It’ll fit but the 02 sensor will need a bypass or ecu tweak. Diag 4 or V&H fuel pack 4.
I have the same bike, I did the screaming eagle, but these sound 100x better! Guess I’ll switch
C
It’s worth it!
Did you try removing the baffle packing to see what it sounds like to do a comparison?
No we didn’t actually
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Love to hear the difference if you do.
Sounds good, can you put a decble reading off your phone to get an idea of how loud over stock.
Yeah good idea 👍🏻
I'm considering these for my Indian Scout, my question is; will I still be able to hear my Bluetooth speakers that are inside my helmet if I put in the vance and hines quite baffles? Music is part of the ride for me 😉 Thanks!
Should still be able to hear them, I’m not sure though. Could always try it out and then if you can’t hear it order quiet baffles.
Can you do a video about what harley davidson we can own with an A2 licence
That’s a good idea 👍🏻
Hi love your videos you and your dad are epic! I’ve got a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King. I would love to put a Vance and Hines exhaust on my road king. Do you know if they do one for it? 😁
Thank you mate! I’m sure they do, if you speak to your local Harley dealer they should know what is available for it!
Ok. I own a 2020 Harley Low Rider S. Looking for your advice, among others. Would you recommend the V&H Twin Slash or the V&H 300 Eliminator Slip on exhaust ?
Look at our reviews of each, you should find the answers you’re looking for.
Eliminator is louder on deceleration and more blowy. Twin slash crisper 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks. But since you tested both in person what is your personal favorite of the two on a Harley LRS ?
Sweet
How many miles do you get per full gas tank ? I'm getting 210 klm with vance and hines 300 elimintors, what wad the longest trip you have done on your bike ?
The longest trip was about 120miles. Tbh I don’t really pay attention to how far I get on each tank but it’s probably about 100 miles
@@MrDarcy-OlMan that’s almost as bad as the 48.. no way that’s possible
They sound great ,definitely different from the 300s. Could you weigh the stock slip-on for me if you still have it please ? Thanks , keep up the videos and ride safe .
I do have them but they are at the dealership, I’ll see what I can do
Lovely sound on your street classic! I have the eliminator 300 and they are also mint on my bob 👌🏻
What helmet do you wear ?
They’re both awesome! Filmed a comparison between both. I wear a Simpson venom, I can source you one if you like as I deal with some clothing for sycamore Harley!
Sounds amazing! Please tell us how did you solve the o2 sensor issue with these mufflers. I mean what did you do with the muffler sensors the 2021 eureopan bikes have without getting an error code.
You can either live with an error code, or there’s only 1 software out there called diag 4 which turns the sensors off so you can put whatever pipe you like on there. This can only be done by dealers and the only one I know in the uk that has it is sycamore Harley
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Great! I’ve seen some O2 sensor eliminators online that could work as well, would be good to know.
Interesting not heard of those
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I see them on ebay as "o2 sensor eliminator" and someone in the FXBB/FXST facebook group mentioned that they work well.
Hi Darcy, i have the streetbob 114 and it has an oxygen sensor on the rear silencer, i imagine that the standard has the same set up……how did you get round this with the lovely new V and H pipes. Kind regards.
Hi buddy, you can either deal with error codes. Or diag 4 do a software that switches the rear sensors off and you can remove them. This has to be done by a dealer and most dealers don’t have it! The only one I know of is Sycamore Harley.
Perfect!……appreciate that info, your gleaming machine sounds great.
I’ve got them on my 103 softail slim and even with ear plugs they’re loud on the motorway!
I live on a farm and every time I start it up the owner thinks his tractor is being nicked 😂
Haha yes awesome 👍🏼👍🏼
have you already measured the average range with that stock tiny fuel tank?. I saw a used one 2018 to sell...I think my free will is about to broke...
I did 130 miles today and still have 40 miles range left. Not bad
Awesome video. I just ordered mine. No quiet baffles ordered, should I get some ? Is the sound really too loud without them ? Do you have quiet baffles mounted on the video ?
Cheers buddy! I say they’re just right. These are the standard baffles, give them a try and if you think they’re too loud you can always order the quiet baffles after but I don’t think you need them.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan just installed the VH. Sound is massive, a true potato sound they was not here with my previous Screamin eagle slip ons. It’s like having a new bike, a big bad Harley this time :)
I ordered the quiet baffles (found a used pair for 50$ so it won’t ruin me). Will install to check how it sounds. A lot à people say that it actually doesn’t reduce the volume per say but it gives it a deeper rumble.
Thanks again buddy
@@romainrobin1931 awesome! Great to hear 👍🏼👍🏼
You need to get your front lawn mown chap! Nice zaust btw!!
Haha that’s the sheeps job
These actually sound pretty good. I was looking around at alot of exhausts but these actually seem pretty good. I think you're sound quality makes them so much better, other videos out there have dodgy audio. I'll have to take up that offer to hear them in person if I ever bump into you while you're up in wales at any point. Also got my merch from you guys, will have to get a picture with me in it at some point and get it to you. Great content as always.
Thanks buddy, yes I noticed when I was looking for them that there weren’t really any videos out there with good audio of them so hopefully this one helps! Thanks for buying the merchandise means a lot! Just got back from a trip to wales but no doubt I’ll be over there again!
Sounds amazing!! Just wondering, did you learn to drive before learning to ride?
Thanks buddy, I had a 50cc for a year when I was 16 and then have been driving since I was 17.
After installing the new slips on, did you happen to notice less or more performance?
More for sure, it’s less restricted and can flow properly
@@MrDarcy-OlMan did you need to get a fuel pak and also do you need a rain cover for the stock air intake
@@mototrositymayhem5543 slip ons alone don't require a remap, it's only when you change the air filter as well you need to remap. I have the twin slash on my road king and didn't need the new mapping. I will complete the stage I at some point though.
Might be worth moving the go pro up so we cant see the speedo you never know who's watching great review of the pipes
Good point!
Where do you get harley parts and accessories thinking about getting one and would like to know where to look on the Internet the minimum would be I think stage one and suspension thanks
Get it all from my local Harley dealer, Sycamore Harley-Davidson
I have a v&h on my iron 883 sound amazing however it upsets my neighbours and as I live in an apartment need to pick the right times
If you want you can install baffles to the pipes. Won’t be as loud, but they still sound awesome. Or you can tell your neighbors to F themselves 😅 jk
Sweet! I bet your neighbors like you very much XD
Of course, they love me 😂🤷🏻♂️
great video. Are these legal on the UK roads? on their website there is a disclaimer: "For Closed Course Competition Use Only". Also, what did you do with the additional o2 sensors in the muffler?
Thanks buddy, I think technically no aftermarket exhausts are road legal in that sense but you won’t have any problems. Most Harley’s are extremely loud so police think that’s just what they sound like haha. You need to map it to turn the sensors off, some dealers can use diag 4 or you can do it yourself with a Vance and Hines FP4
@@MrDarcy-OlMan a few months later and I am a proud owner of V&H twin slash on my FXLRS 21. Got FP4 too. Thanks a lot!
@@wojciechhaase awesome 👍🏼👍🏼
That sounds amazing! 😎 I got my dyna fat bob few weeks ago from sycamore harley and I fitted cobra slip-ons and the sound is unbelievable. Keep up the good work buddy 👍🏼
You might remember me when I been to the shop 😉
Awesome buddy, great to see people like yourself out and about. Bet that sounds fantastic!
like a boss
Hell yeah 😎
They look smart and they sound like god gargling granite. I know you can't add an air filter (yet) but how much difference does that make on a Harley. Because on my old F800 it was the induction noise that I loved most.
Not sure tbh, it of course will allow more air flow so ideal really but noise wise won’t make a difference.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yeah I guessed not. Cruisers don't seem to have the big air boxes seen I other types of bikes
