I bought the Softtail Standard 2 weeks, put the touring package on, and a set of Short shots on, traded my 1200 Sporty T in for this bike, what a huge, awesome difference! I bought it new in 2020. Would never swap the standard. I have added mini leds by Heinzbikes, J&H with tapered classic design, Thunderbike Footrests (extended ones) and some small mods but always try to keep the classic design. Love it! All the best 😎👍
When the Streetbob came out I love the look of the custom paint and blacked out details but as time has went on I thin I prefer the black and chrome of the Standard. Lovely bike mate.
I prefer the Street Bob 114 rather than this one, purely because of the black instead of chrome. Otherwise there is no reason to complain. They are the same bike anyway, and it’s a good choice. That Sizzapp is amazing. Can’t believe they offer the tracking service for free for this price. I’ll be buying one of these for my bike as well. Thanks for bringing this up in the video.
I've got my 2021 Street Bob now for just over a month and love it. Wouldn't change anything about it, and it drives just wonderful. And yes, the Standard is just a Street Bob with chrome instead of black, and the 107 instead of the 114. I've testdriven the Street Bob 107 last year, and the handling and difference in power doesn't really stand out. What I do prefer with the 114 model are the new paint jobs and the air filter cover.... So for that I'm glad I have the 114. But anyway, the Street Bob Standard (😉) is a great bike, and I love the look of the saddle. I woul change the driver pegs though to match the passenger ones! 🙂
Another great review of the Standard. I agree, it’s a naff name for such a lovely looking bike….classic all the way. That Badlander seat looks fab, gives the bike more ‘body’….nice. Also agree about Harley tyres, I had them on my Superglide which felt very unstable at times, so changed to Avon Cobra Chrome….what a big difference, feels much better in dry and wet👍
I remember, just 6 years ago, when you can get a brand new street bob twin cam for 15k€ and the new m8 for 16k€ nowadays the softail standard it's 21k€ (at least in Spain) so nowadays I'm looking more the Bonneville Speedmaster to replace my beloved 883, Harley has gone crazy with prices.
I just got a 2021 FXST myself 5 days ago. I'm in love already. Put a pillion and sissy bar. Waiting on passenger pegs and cushion for sissy bar. Ground out the baffels on the factory pipes. It's a beast when you feel your arse slip off the seat in first and second gear.
@@j.vosier6786 no I haven't changed my exhaust. I cut the baffles out of them. Also I just got my motorcycle back. It got stolen a month after this post. Just got it back 3 days ago.
When you ride a sportbike, all you need is the front brake. Use it hard enough and the rear tire won't even touch the ground. Different story on cruisers. If you need to brake hard, you must use both brakes for best result. When you do that, you'll find it'll stop as fast as anything. Looks like they chrome the UK bike's engine bits. I like that. The brushed stuff in we get in US is much harder to keep clean. I demo'd a Street Bob after a Fat Boy earlier in the year. I found the ergonomics of the FB superior, but the dynamics of the SB were markedly better in every way. I think the lighter SB wheels made it a little quicker too. Least it felt spunkier to me. Although the SB's rear suspension worked better with the lighter rear wheel than it did on the FB, I'd still put the taller shock option from the Heritage on it or an aftermarket equivalent. I value my spine more than I do a "slammed" profile.
Ive got a 2021 slim with the 107 stage 2 s&s 465 torque cam which makes about 97 hp & 114 ft lb torque, the 107 mtr comes alive with a good cam and tuner fitted.
I haven't really seen anybody customizing a standard except for the exhaust. I would love to see a collage of videos of people that have really went over the top... New paint... bars... Maybe a new tank emblem...
That kind of brings home the point that Harley got the marketing of this bike wrong, selling it as a blank canvas for customisation. People that buy it like it the way it is.
Most that get the Standard are a complete Kool person who doesn't want or need all the frills. If they do, they get another model. This is the model Fonzy would ride on in Happy Days tv show. Because it's Kool..
great presentation and an amazing bike. i’m actually getting myself ready for my first bike and i am reading and watching everything i can find. Can’t wait for the real thing.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yes, i was reading about Indian and Triumph too, but i'm in love with Harley Davidson, especially Softail Standard. It looks amazing and i can afford it.
"Street Bob Classic" is a perfect name for it. I have an XL1200L (Sportster Low) with chrome wire wheels and it very much looks like the 'Street Bob Classic' . . . maybe I should get after HD to rename it the 'Sportster Classic' ! (Actually, that's what they should rename all the "real" Sportsters, to distinguish them from the new water-cooled Sportster S and others to follow). I really like all those features on the tracker you highlighted. You've sold me on it ! Hope it's available in Canada. Thanks ! Ride on
Awesome, yes good idea about the sportster classic! What do you think of the super low? The link for the tracker is in the description, also if you use out code MDATOM you can get 10% off!
Great video as always. Great looking bike and sounds great. I didn't buy a Standard but did buy a 2020 Breakout due to your review and couldn't be happier.. Thanks and safe riding my friends.
If you're in love with the Standard in its err standard trim then it doesn't matter what I think and congrats on owning an awesome bike. But if you still want to know, I took the name of the model to signify the concept: a perfect blank canvas ripe for going all out on some serious customization (what Harley ownership is all about for some).
Yes I know that was what they thought, but it is a stunning bike as it is. No one views the street bob as a blank canvas, it’s just due to what marketing has told people to think.
I have also thought this bike has a better rider triangle than the low rider S. The handlebar adjustment is plenty to fit many individuals. Also the gauges on this bike is best amongst the softail model. The Harley-Davidson Bevel seat with any quarter fairing and cruise control installed will be good I think. The only other simple mode that will be helpful will be the JW Speaker adaptive 2 headlight. I use that headlight on my bike and it make a lot of difference is a good way…that final mode I think of is Ohlins suspension. Even the stock suspension adjusted for preload make a different and enjoyable ride…
Love the look of this bike. But take too many long trips on my bike to buy this model. If harley sold larger tanks i'd buy it. Now i just go for low rider special or sport glide. Gues that's a win for Harley. Since i end up buying the more expensive bike. The way i'd love this bike setup: 5 gallon tank. Cruise controle. Lockable bags(detachable) Upside down dual forks 2 up seat And cast wheels. If my damn insurance decides to pay out before they drop the sportglide i am outfitting it with the standard's apes for sure.
Got Avon Cobras on my Evo big twin and sportster. Night and day! Also get a longer 'guard or extender for the front. stops yer engine getting covered in crap.
I like the Softtail...nice looking & sounding bike...the older I get, the more I like the touring models...I currently have a Road King, nice on the long hauls...but any Harley has a feel that other bikes just don't have...I never use HD tires, I like Avon Cobras...
@@MrDarcy-OlMan great tires...I've ridden them thousands & thousands of miles, in many different types of weather, good & bad & have 0 complaints...& they've got a great looking tread design...only tire other than 1 set of Michelin Commander IIs I've bought in the past 10 years...well, the Avon brand anyways, I used Avon Venoms before that, but the Cobras are more readily available these days & fine tires too...No, I don't work for Avon tires, I'm just a fan...Lol!
If you want a bigger brake Darcy, Arlen Ness makes a big brake rotor kit for your bike. There's a standard rotor style and Jagged brake rotor, both are 15inches in diameter.
Aaaaah, I love your bike Darcy!! Man, she’s a beauty! Just such a classic, classic, looking piece of machinery 👀. The more I see the chrome the more I miss not having any on my bike. It just screams “Harley Davidson!” American muscle! You make me seriously, seriously, consider trading in my sportster for it. It’s just so iconic looking! I wonder what changes they’ll make to it for 2022? The 114? 🤷🏻♂️ They 💯 should change the name! It’s a freaking “Street Bob!” That’s exactly what it is! I get why they call it the standard, but it’s not a good name and it takes away from someone’s impression of the bike. It’s a classic looking Street Bob through and through. Honestly, it’s so classic looking that there’s really no reason to ever “trade up” from this bike. Unless you want a bigger tank or a bagger? Yeah, I really think I’m gonna get this bike now! I absolutely love it!!! Great choice!
Glad you agree with me! It really is an awesome bike and it’s a perfect step up from a sportster. Familiar yet much more grunt! I doubt they’ll put a 114 in it as then it would make it too similar to the street bob specs and price wise 🤔
I agree that this bike is spot on, except for the stock seat. I have had the 107 and it's plenty; I never wanted more. I would've liked to see it in 2 or 3 colors, though.
I like the standard, great platform for mods to make it your own with a rock solid engine, too bad your's is tuned down because of nanny laws. Best looking HD, Pan America Special...because I recently purchased one. Cheers
I just got my 2021 "Streetbob Classic" with only 242 miles. I love the looks and the ride. Engine is very torquey! Did u add a tuner or high flow air filter when u changed your exhaust?
Great review I agree the name is so naff!! Very good value for money when compared to the new sportster The only thing I don’t like is the tank I’m now on Harley number 7 after 40 years of riding the mark The thing that swayed me to get a softail slim was the tank classic look with clock in centre Wonder how much 5 gallon tank would cost for the standard Once again great review
A couple years ago I bought a beautiful, 2003 century edition ST standard, the last carbureted version with a twin-cam 88 and 5-speed gear box. It looks much the same as yours. A difference is the engine, of course, mine has fewer CIs. Mine as a 5 gallon gas tank with an additional reserve tank. I suspect the handling and feel is about the same as yours. Mine is chromed out, with pretty much every bit of chrome available. It's pretty. I get compliments from mostly youngsters in the neighborhood. Still, they're appreciated. My ST std also has a sissy bar and luggage rack that I use to carry the small HD brand synthetic leather tool bag. I had a Memphis Shades windshield for a while. I took it off. Too much helmet buffeting. I had forward controls from the previous owner, who was 6'5". I'm only 5'11". I hated the forward controls and took them back off. He also had drag bars on risers. I hated them and took the back off. I like the factory setup better. I had Vance and Hines short pipes. With or without baffles, they are simply too loud for the neighborhood. I took them back off. I plan to add Street & Steal, buffalo-leather saddle bags and replace the current tool bag with a full leather sissy bar bag. I plan to take a cross-country trip to Sturgis with my son next summer. I'm looking for an affordable similar bike for him (he's only 18). My only previous cruiser was a first gen Magna I had 30-some years ago. My Softail Standard is like a detuned Magna: a bit slower, but a smidge more comfortable. I love it!
I really like this bike, you as a reviewer, and the aspects you bring up. I live in a rainy place, Hamburg, Germany. Do you think besides the front brake pads/disc, a change to better all-weather tires, a larger front fender might be better for riding in rain conditions? Just asking because I would use the bike as my only means of transport. Thanks in advance, Mr. Darcy!
Thanks buddy, perhaps a bigger front mud guard would keep more rain off of the front of the frame and the engine but as a rider it shouldn’t make a difference to how wet you get haha
Well Done lad lovely bike.. I also have fxbbs .in black..can you tell me about slip-on how do you get around the sensors on the Back of the exhaust or is it just matter..slip them on..😊
Thanks buddy, you do need to do a tune to turn the rear sensors off. Diag 4 is what my local dealer have. If you want to do it yourself Vance and Hines have brought out the fuel pak 4 now
Hello from France! I am expecting delivery of my Softail Standard by the end of November! there is a delay in delivery because I have my motorcycle accessorized a lot! Including a complete body paint in olive green Pearl, Breakout risers, thunderbike torque handlebars, quarter fairing, saddlebags, basketwave Saddlemen seat, and a complete stage one, and some other pieces ... I can't wait for my bike! I recommend you to change your Dunlop tires for some Bridgestone Battlax BT46, which are as good in the wet as they are in the dry! I have ridden BATTLAX on my Sportsters for 13 years, and always with confidence and satisfaction! good road! ride safe!
When you spoke about the size of the gas tank fitting the look of the bike, it made me think of the new Breakout. The new 5 gallon tank on the Breakout looks too big, in my opinion. I'm looking at used Standards to complement my Road King, and there are 2020's out there with low miles going for less than $ 10,000.
It is a very nice bike, personally I like the Slim better. I see it more classic and since I am an old man and my knees hurt, it is better with the forward controls. Regarding the name of your proposal, I like Street bob classic!!
Good review of the H-D-Softail Standard, I'm with you on the name 'Classic' it sounds far better, as for the looks well that is always subjective , the standard looks really good , the only thing I would 'bin' is the awful number plate holder which spoils the back end of the bike.
Thanx for this empathic review, i get hooked on with this ship and will give the eye on it for next spring. For a long time saving money - my honest birthday gift :-) save ride for all, greets - best regards from germany - F.
I was all about the street bob until I saw your vids on this bike. There is just the right amount of chrome and it's in all the right places. They definitely need to rename it. I bet if you ask most people to describe a Harley they would describe this bike whether they are bikers or not so Softail Classic or Softail Original or something like that would be better. As it is it seems like HD called it the Standard to try and coax more money out of people for a better name since a bit part of HD ownership is the image and branding. How is it for rust now the weather is crap again?
More good name ideas! Yes you’re right, and no matter how much you customise it the name will still be softail standard which then kind of defeats the object! No rust whatsoever, as long as you treat them right and wash them properly you shouldn’t get any rust. Normally it’s the nuts and bolts that rust first. I don’t ride it in the bad weather very often though if I can avoid it.
Great review. I agree with you regarding the name. "softail standard" seems to understate the bike. I own a Harley (2012 Fatbob),which i love but and one of my pet hates with the Harley's is having 2 indicator swtches (one on each side of the bars). Just a minor thing i know but i find it really annoying and unnecessary. 👍👍
Thanks! I actually like the indicator switches being on either side. If you find them difficult to reach which I’ve heard a lot of people say, maybe get some switch extensions from Harley, they just bring them out a bit further and make it easier to reach them!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I think the problem i have with the indicator switch is not so much a reach issue, it's more of a habit issue. I rode japanese sports bikes for so many years prior to getting the Harley and i'am just so used to using the one switch set up.Also the fact that i still own a ZX6R which i ride more than the Harley (it's my daily ride) doesn't help with changing my old habits.👍👍
ive got the same one V & H slipons too, and a little black dart screen, the brakes are pretty horrible, the rear brake lever just seems to be at the wrong angle, the suspension is a bit basic and a little too stiff in the initial movement for my liking and the standard seat is the work of satan .... still love it to death though
Great review thank you. I'd hate to think what that would cost to insure per year in UK. In Australia when I was still riding a few years ago Insurance cost was probably the biggest contributing factor for declining bike sales.
the bike looks fantastic in my opinion. I don't mind the smaller tank because frankly I like to get up and stretch usually after 30 or 40 miles So it's not a big deal to me. only thing I would change out is the wheels And maybe the bars. I'd get mag wheels like the 2022s and narrow black mini apes.... but That's just me! lol!
I buy min in May and i been driving just over 8000 km with mine already. Only thing i hate with the bike are the stock tires. They are horrible when its wet!! Rest of the bike i like very much. Rear break could be better and the stock seat.
Nice one Darcy. Glad you are enjoying your HD. It’s a classic design. Why does this model handle better than the breakout please? Is it the riding position?
Thanks bro. The breakout has a very wide rear tyre and forks that stick out which makes changes of direction harder and slower although it increases stability.
Just go to Assen when it's TT. You'll see bikes. The bike parking is like nothing you have ever seen! Amsterdam is not all that tough... Lots of nicer places that are a lot less tourist focussed. Like Rotterdam, Den Haag, Zaandam... lots more
Thank you very much for your nice review of the Softail Standard .I am very much interested in it because I am thinking about buying one.. Here my are Comments: First of all , I had a hard time to understand what you mean by "says up", later a found it is "sizz app" ...I think that one would have been worthwhile doing an extra Video for... Because its not specific to this motorbike, but anyway a good and helpful advice. Second....you might hate me for that.... in my view the name softail standard is perfect because the bike got a soft tail, I mean, for me , that is the most outstanding characteristic of the bike, its brilliant suspension! I did an one hour test drive, which really struck me in terms of that! Secondly u mentioned the torque of the engine, its Power, and I agree, it is so much fun. Third, the Handling , u said that too...its so easy, compared to my 2011 wide glide and thats why I am thinking about selling her and getting me the softail standard. But, I do go on longer trips like 6 hrs or so too , and dont know how that would feel like, especially with some luggage? Helpful is your advice with respect to the Front Brake! Maybe a 2nd disk upfront? So ya, thx a lot, I am still not there to buy one , maybe I should talk to my dealer in order to test ride it for an entire daytrip in order to make up my mind... Anyway , Cheers , thx and keep up the good work! Ralf from Germany
Amsterdam, wonderful place. I suppose you went there to visit the Van Gogh museum. Nice bike, they should put the dual seat and twin disc on as standard.
Yeah it’s a nice bike. You’re clearly infatuated with it! That’s cool. Harleys are always very well planted. It’s surprising how well they handle once you know the bike you’re riding. Yes it looks very nice. I wouldn’t worry about the name too much…
What is the view on the suitability of these or a Street Bob as a first ever bike? I'm 54, 6'2" and just doing my DAS. Sat on a Sportster and it feels cramped. I really like the character of the twins, so wouldn't be happy on a cheap sports bike.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan man this channel gets better every video! I gotta start promotin mine- I never really got into that. Check out the Schecter demo i did if ya get a chance. New cams and edited in DaVinci!
I own a 2020 Softail Standard. I love mine, too. I kept mine stock to preserve the warranty I did add passenger pegs HD Sundowner seat and black Kuryackyn ISO grips. My warranty expired so I’m considering V&H slip ons and a high flow air filter and some kind of tuner. Maybe a S/E air cleaner abd either a V&H or Powervision tuner. What did you use? I love the look of the 2020 and 2021 models but the black cast wheels of the 2022 models turn me off.
Awesome buddy, diag 4 is a good tuner or a V&H fuel pack is good too. Ask your local dealer what they recommend as different dealers tend to be loyal to certain brands.
Greetings from across the pond. Just wondering if you how difficult it is to gain access to the battery.? I live in a place and climate where I would need to remove the battery every winter but it sounds like you needed your friend from Harley who is a tech to help you gain access to the battery to install that app device. Thanks for a great video
I have a 21 solftail standard also It's ok fuel mileage sucks One thing for sure it's not an all day bike I'm 68 and after 3 hours of riding my ass goes numb Other than that it's an ok bike
Great video.. I'm here in, Rural area 30 minutes west of Charlotte NC here in America and I think I'm going to run out and get me a Harley Davidson Standard. I just sold my 2009 Sportster 1200 and I need something to ride.. As for, does Harley Davidson need to change the name of this bike? I'd change it from Standard to Complete. Because, I think everyone who rides a Standard is a Completely Balanced person who doesn't need or wants all the excess frills, baggage or garbage on a bike. I like looking at Baggers, Draggers and Such, but don't care to ride them. The only thing I'm going to change on mine is three things. Change the breather to a chrome piece with an Eagle on it and I like mid and forward foot pegs. So, I'd either add mini floorboards or, and extreme forward foot rest. Then put a seat and low backrest for a passenger. No Bags and No windshield.. I want to feel the bugs hit my teeth.. Well maybe a short windshield. One other thing, how do you ride on the wrong side of the road and get away with it? Drivers here will run you over in a heartbeat.. See ya.. Have a good day.. 😎
Thanks for the comment buddy, I’m sure you won’t regret it! Good point about the name, you might be onto something there. For some reason we all drive on the left here!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yeah im super interested in it. I don't believe its a huge difference in power but its a difference none the less
@@Ross.i.m Because of the very high torque at low rpm the peak power restriction will make little difference to the feel of the bike up to 3500 rpm (and most of the time you’re riding a Harley between 2000and 3000 rpm.) you will notice a plateau above 3500 rpm but it won’t be that bad, and with so much torque it still pulls hard at low rpm

And yes, the Standard is just a Street Bob with chrome instead of black, and the 107 instead of the 114. It sure is!
Thanks very much!
Thanks for the tyre tip. The Ol man did wheelspins in 1st 2nd & 3rd accelerating in the rain once! Lethal tyres
Another fun video. Gotta agree with you, I love the look of this bike too. Thanks
The love for the bike shines clearly. Great enthusiasm.
Thanks buddy, i really do love it!
Congrats buddy, sounds like some good upgrades. I want to look into a sissy bar too. It’s a beast! Doesn’t get old, enjoy!
Did u change the exhaust?
@@j.vosier6786 no I haven't changed my exhaust. I cut the baffles out of them. Also I just got my motorcycle back. It got stolen a month after this post. Just got it back 3 days ago.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks! For the month I had it I enjoyed every minute of it! Then it got stolen. Just recovered it 3 days ago.
@@poeswanky4392 oh no!
Just bought me one 2 weeks ago and I love it all I want to do is get the slip on mufflers like you have and it will be perfect
Good points bro! 💯
Thanks buddy. Are you thinking of a Harley Davidson?
@@MrDarcy-OlMan yes, i was reading about Indian and Triumph too, but i'm in love with Harley Davidson, especially Softail Standard. It looks amazing and i can afford it.
@@dragosene5961 OK great! The Softail Standard is a lovely bike!
Hi Bernard,
Yes, Sizzapp works in Canada 🙂👍
9:25 "...I really love this bike." Happy for you, man.
Thanks mate!
Great video as always. Great looking bike and sounds great. I didn't buy a Standard but did buy a 2020 Breakout due to your review and couldn't be happier.. Thanks and safe riding my friends.
Thanks mate, the breakout is pure badass!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Absolutely
Great bike, I think Softail Standard should be called just The Harley Davidson One because is pure and raw which you can feel it when riding on it.
I agree … this is a good looking bike with no much changes needed…also a good price..
Thanks bud. Yes indeed 👍🏼
The way i'd love this bike setup:
5 gallon tank.
Cruise controle.
Lockable bags(detachable)
Upside down dual forks
2 up seat
And cast wheels.
If my damn insurance decides to pay out before they drop the sportglide i am outfitting it with the standard's apes for sure.
Got Avon Cobras on my Evo big twin and sportster. Night and day! Also get a longer 'guard or extender for the front. stops yer engine getting covered in crap.
You got the best nimble harley good choice and endless ways to customise it
great video as always!
Good to see you've put the Bikes battery cable under the Trackers cable ....
I like the Softtail...nice looking & sounding bike...the older I get, the more I like the touring models...I currently have a Road King, nice on the long hauls...but any Harley has a feel that other bikes just don't have...I never use HD tires, I like Avon Cobras...
Awesome, I think I’ll get some Avon cobras once mine are worn out
@@MrDarcy-OlMan great tires...I've ridden them thousands & thousands of miles, in many different types of weather, good & bad & have 0 complaints...& they've got a great looking tread design...only tire other than 1 set of Michelin Commander IIs I've bought in the past 10 years...well, the Avon brand anyways, I used Avon Venoms before that, but the Cobras are more readily available these days & fine tires too...No, I don't work for Avon tires, I'm just a fan...Lol!
Another great video..love look and sound of this bike..I think the reason it looks so good is because it’s so simple and classic looking.👍
Thanks buddy, I totally agree!
If you want a bigger brake Darcy, Arlen Ness makes a big brake rotor kit for your bike. There's a standard rotor style and Jagged brake rotor, both are 15inches in diameter.
That’s the exact one I was referencing!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Ah. I'm trying to fit one to my Fat Boy. I hope it works out, I want more stopping power.
The 114? 🤷🏻♂️
They 💯 should change the name!
Yes it would’ve been nice to see a few more colours. I don’t think they wanted it to compete with the street bob though.
I like the standard, great platform for mods to make it your own with a rock solid engine, too bad your's is tuned down because of nanny laws.
Best looking HD, Pan America Special...because I recently purchased one. Cheers
Yes that sucks. Great bike. Yours is cool too 😏
I just got my 2021 "Streetbob Classic" with only 242 miles. I love the looks and the ride. Engine is very torquey! Did u add a tuner or high flow air filter when u changed your exhaust?
Those V&H pipes sound fantastic! Good review, thanks.
Thanks buddy 😎
I wish the new softails still had the spoked wheels. The new wheels are hideous in my opinion
They are still available 👍🏼
I highly recommend the Saddlemen Renegade solo seat. I have 16k miles in my Street Bob with it.
Excellent thanks bud 👍🏼
Great review I agree the name is so naff!! Very good value for money when compared to the new sportster
The only thing I don’t like is the tank I’m now on Harley number 7 after 40 years of riding the mark
The thing that swayed me to get a softail slim was the tank classic look with clock in centre
Wonder how much 5 gallon tank would cost for the standard
Once again great review
Thanks buddy! I’ve never looked into it tbh. For me the size is okay 👍🏻
I love it!
I just bought this seat for my street bob because I saw your video introduction, hope it will be satisfied✌️. Thank your experience sharing👍
I’m sure you’ll like it, thanks buddy!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan haha alright, then I know I’ll need to add good gore-tex pants to the upgrades. Thank you!
Those mufflers sound awesome!
I have ridden BATTLAX on my Sportsters for 13 years, and always with confidence and satisfaction! good road! ride safe!
Wow sounds like some incredible customisations you’re doing! I’ll defo check those tyres out.
Love the sound of that exhaust👍
It sure sounds good
It is a very nice bike, personally I like the Slim better. I see it more classic and since I am an old man and my knees hurt, it is better with the forward controls. Regarding the name of your proposal, I like Street bob classic!!
I like the slim too, thought I’m more a fan of mini apes haha. Yes I think it’d be rather suiting!
I want to buy one, Standard is not a bad name. 🙂
I think a sissy bar would complete the bike. Looks great and very practical.
Personally I don’t like sissy bars looks wise, and they also make it harder for me to get on as I have to put my leg through the middle.
A beautiful and responsive classic soft tail with the awesome Harley air-cool engine
Good review of the H-D-Softail Standard, I'm with you on the name 'Classic' it sounds far better, as for the looks well that is always subjective , the standard looks really good , the only thing I would 'bin' is the awful number plate holder which spoils the back end of the bike.
Yes I agree, unfortunately we have to have these huge number plates in the uk!
Thanx for this empathic review, i get hooked on with this ship and will give the eye on it for next spring.
For a long time saving money - my honest birthday gift :-)
save ride for all, greets - best regards from germany - F.
Thank you buddy, it’d be one awesome birthday gift!
Sweet bike! One of the true classic looking Harley Davidsons 👍
Thank you, I agree. It’s a stunner!
I have to say, the older softail models, the previous FXST looked more classic Harley like, but I guess cost cutting plays a big role for HD nowadays
Another good video. Glad your still loving the bike.
Thank you mate!
Love the spoke wheels, COOL ride brother.
Thank you! I love the spoke wheels too
My favourite looking cruiser is the Indian scout bobber. No idea how it rides Darcy but looks the bollocks.
Boy o boy the sound of those V&H mufflers is orgasmic, what a great choice of bike Darcy, I'm jealous as fuck..
Thanks man! Yes it sounds even better in real life!
I must agree with you about the name of this model. "Standard" is not very exciting, that's for sure. How about the "Outbreak." 😉
That is the best looking seat for this bike
It sounds like the perfect bike for me as well!
Awesome 💯
ive got the same one V & H slipons too, and a little black dart screen, the brakes are pretty horrible, the rear brake lever just seems to be at the wrong angle, the suspension is a bit basic and a little too stiff in the initial movement for my liking and the standard seat is the work of satan .... still love it to death though
Good points, I do agree with you there. Doesn’t stop me loving it either haha
I saw you and the bike at the Harley Davidson Stand on the MCN Festival, but couldn't reach you from the crowd to say hi :D
Oh no way! Shame you didn’t say hi!
thats a really lovely street bob classic...
Thanks buddy 😎😉
Great review thank you. I'd hate to think what that would cost to insure per year in UK. In Australia when I was still riding a few years ago Insurance cost was probably the biggest contributing factor for declining bike sales.
Interesting, for me this bike is £1500 to insure per year.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan So at a wild guess without any research about five times the cost as a car of similar value, say a VW Golf?
Yes nice bike. To me it's mainly the sound with Harleys . Good review as usual.
Thanks, yes they sound awesome
the bike looks fantastic in my opinion. I don't mind the smaller tank because frankly I like to get up and stretch usually after 30 or 40 miles So it's not a big deal to me. only thing I would change out is the wheels And maybe the bars. I'd get mag wheels like the 2022s and narrow black mini apes.... but That's just me! lol!
Yes it’s a great looking bike 👍🏼👍🏼
I buy min in May and i been driving just over 8000 km with mine already. Only thing i hate with the bike are the stock tires. They are horrible when its wet!! Rest of the bike i like very much. Rear break could be better and the stock seat.
Yes indeed! I’m loving mine 👍🏼👍🏼
Lovely looking bike and sounds great with those pipes on.
Thanks buddy!
Yeah definitely wanting one now, although many modifications would have to be done lol
Just go to Assen when it's TT. You'll see bikes. The bike parking is like nothing you have ever seen! Amsterdam is not all that tough... Lots of nicer places that are a lot less tourist focussed. Like Rotterdam, Den Haag, Zaandam... lots more
Yes I’ll have to visit those places in the future!
I agree completely with you, Amsterdam is overrated many other beautiful cities or villages 😉
Beautiful bike my good man
Thank you!
Thank you very much for your nice review of the Softail Standard .I am very much interested in it because I am thinking about buying one.. Here my are Comments:
First of all , I had a hard time to understand what you mean by "says up", later a found it is "sizz app" ...I think that one would have been worthwhile doing an extra Video for...
I agree they should put dual disks on it, of course I’m a big fan of Van Gogh you see.
Yes indeed 👍🏼👍🏼 The reason they don’t put dual discs and seat etc is to be true to the minimalistic bobber style 👌🏼
.....and get more money from your pocket.🤑🌻

Yeah it’s a nice bike. You’re clearly infatuated with it! That’s cool. Harleys are always very well planted. It’s surprising how well they handle once you know the bike you’re riding. Yes it looks very nice. I wouldn’t worry about the name too much…
Yes they do handle surprisingly well, I certainly am infatuated with it!
I wish somebody would say the front brake was outstanding on a Harley review. I’d feel lot better about buying something this heavy.
It’s good enough for 90% of the time. Just sometimes I wish it was a bit more
@@MrDarcy-OlMan hehe, okay I feel a bit better. But only 90% better 😀
What is the view on the suitability of these or a Street Bob as a first ever bike? I'm 54, 6'2" and just doing my DAS. Sat on a Sportster and it feels cramped. I really like the character of the twins, so wouldn't be happy on a cheap sports bike.
I think it’d be fine tbh, just take it easy at first. It’s my second bike, my first bike was a 50cc so I think it’s suitable in your situation haha.

That’s a nice Harley nicely done 👍🏻

Greetings from across the pond. Just wondering if you how difficult it is to gain access to the battery.? I live in a place and climate where I would need to remove the battery every winter but it sounds like you needed your friend from Harley who is a tech to help you gain access to the battery to install that app device.
Thanks for a great video
Thanks bud, it’s fairly difficult but if you have the right tools and know how to do it it’s not that hard

I have a 21 solftail standard also It's ok fuel mileage sucks
One thing for sure it's not an all day bike I'm 68 and after 3 hours of riding my ass goes numb
Other than that it's an ok bike
Another great review btw.

@@MrDarcy-OlMan yeah im super interested in it. I literally cant find anything about the subject and even a2 Harleys are pretty hard to find online. a lowrider s is my dream bike and I can pretty much afford it at this point but there no point in getting it if its going to be horrible to ride.
