Brah! Ur prob not gonna see this but it is because of you that I hit 900 last week! Hit 1000 last night! And I just beat my first 1104 right now! Wootwoot
At 950 ELO everyone seems to know about pinning the knight and doubling the pawns in front of the king. They always play h3 or h6 to prevent the pin. Was hoping it would give me more wins!
Man just hit 1000 today, feeling good. It's been a great journey with our GM. Started chess 2 month before today hit milestone. Advice for new guyz out here : you will loose game but your perspective should be playing good game, don't rush the process and go along with the video don't jump to next one without reaching the same elo, guys it will be worth watching ❤️❤️🐐🐐
I think sometimes Aman underestimates the tactical vision of a 1000 elo player, I think probably would have spotted bishop d3 winning the queen in game 5 when I was like 700, even if I just moved the pawn randomly, and DEFINITELY now I'm over 1k. Looking forward to level 3 habits now!
As a player in this elo... I find I only see these tactics he's skipping over a small percentage of the time. It's just like what he talked about with blunders in the level 1 habits. Starting off you're going to blunder 50% of your games... as you improve you'll blunder less and less till you reach 0% blunders. Right now I'm seeing basic tactics 30-40% of the time... so just have to keep working them till I see them 80-90% of the time, then move on to level 3!
After staying between 800 - 900 I was finally able to make it to 1000 using these habits. These habits really work! By implementing some tactics and not hanging my pieces I have won 8 games straight!! Thanks Aman, plus it must really take some extreme discipline to exercise habits in favor of best moves. I would have definitely snatched the rook of the board on the last game. I don’t think that’s too hard to find. 2 attackers vs 1 defender plus a back rank checkmate…too easy lol
Happy Canada Day, eh !!! Amazing instruction ... thank you !!! But at the 50:12 mark, what is worse ... doubling your pawns up infront of your king? Or moving to g4? Here is what the computer says: At the 48:36 mark the computer lists Nd5 as a “mistake” and g5 as the “best” move for black. LOL At 50:43 the computer lists Re1 as a “blunder” (resulting in doubled pawns) and g4 as by far the best move for white. Its not like doubling your pawns (instead of g4) is without consequences.
I love these videos for training but I think he maybe underestimates low rated players a bit. My ELO is ~850 and I saw the potential mate in 2 he refused to take in the last game immediately
yeah you do see opponents use lots of tactics as well 600-900 I think, and opponents do notice passed pawn pushes. But not all the time. And the advice is gold. Personally I am going back to these basics to recover elo I lost trying to employ systems and advanced tactics. Ultimately these rules avoid risk.
I think in the last game the opponent didn't know that going for the perpetual was a good thing. Draw's are considered bad by most players, but in this instance it's actually good and that's the concept the opponent didn't get.
I'm like 550 atm (maybe my actual rating would be about 800-900 if I played some more games), but I saw bishop d3 only once the bishop was pinned to the queen bc it's when I'm under pressure that I actually try to find tactics ig
Walking a passed pawn, king in the middle, attacking pawns. My endgame is better than anybody's at my level. I've watched every episode--twice. I want a t-shirt with a pawn above h3. :)
When I played some games against a couple of engines to roughly measure my starting strength as a baseline I could see several of the missed wins & errors made here, and i measured as a 1000-1050, so I get what you’re saying. Maybe it’s just a way to mimic the lack of consistency or something?
Also is that 1000 in rapid, blitz, or bullet? I’m 1400 rapid but only 1070 blitz. Time crunch accounts for a few hundred easy. Maybe he’s talking 1000 rapid which would definitely be this blunder prone trust me I’ve been there.
I'm low elo, but from what I've seen it probably depends on pawn structures. There are vids on YT "Bishop vs Knight, what's better" and it mainly comes down to open positions favor bishops and closed positions favor knights.
@@LTC122003 i was stuck at around 800 before this series came out, now I'm up to 1300. I recommend following 1 or 2 E4 openings and counters for black for e4 and d4. Caro Kann and the Vienna are my go to, but you have to change it up depending on White's counter play. Practice makes perfect!
