I kinda like that he does lose some games. I find it weird that most/all GMs always want to win every game, even if they are playing with an alternative account against a total beginner. Sometimes it even gets in the way of the main goal of teaching. Aman understands that he has nothing to prove. He just want to teach. And he is doing a great job in my opinion.
If you look at the games yourself, you can (28 Jan to 4 Apr 2021) and Aman has lost 28% of all games he's played in the series. Considering he lost some by timeout, that's actually a pretty good percentage. Still, for someone you describe (win by any means kind of guy) that's a pretty high loss percentage too - of around 394 games played, Aman's lost ~90, whereas the other guy would lose what? 10, 20 at most?
FINALLY!!! We are playing faster now and I learned how to react to the damn vienna and were learning some really nice stuff in here like 26:23. It's a thought process and I love how we are just slowly increasing how we think about some moves. Aman this is truly the BEST learning content on youtube for beginner chess and it really isn't close at all to anybody else. It's miles ahead. I promise you on my heart that one day when I have the money to give you I will. This entire series from 0-2000 is worth every bit of $500... even $1000. I had studied tons of beginner content from all the big streamers and even some lowkey guys but everyone just throws a shit ton of theory at new players and different openings.... and how you need to learn to do different things against different stuff... and blah blah blah BUT THIS... THIS SHIT RIGHT HEREEEEE.... Hands down the best learning content on youtube for chess. It is simple and everything makes sense. I know that by the time I watch the series to 2k that any question I could ever think of is going to be answered... I waited like 10 episodes to finally be presented with a fricken Vienna that you try the new moves on and you KO the guy in 9 moves! Nothing is even that different.. we make 2 "New" moves and they arent even new.. they are just in a slightly different order. Completely same setup with a clearly lethal potential. It's so fricken good lol and I feel like I'm actually learning how to play and think about the game and we are slowly building that up. It's magnificent.
I became 1,005 yesterday using your habits videos as my only instruction. I had never taken chess seriously at all beforehand or played more than a handful of games a year. It took 2,884 games and 501 days, but damn it I did it. 😂 Thank you for this series, I have a serious love for the game now and you're a major part of that.
Wow... Literally the only video series that has helped me actually understand WHY certain moves should be played. You are big brain for delivering chess tutorials in this way. Also after watching this exact video and making notes from it. I have now beaten 4!! People at 1050... I'm at 940 ;)... Well 978 now. Aman you hvE earned a sub, a like, a high five, and a... a... Idk a castle too!!

From 950-1000 range I notice a significant improvement in level of play whereas in the previous level opponents would make some good moves and then blunder a piece.
Being a GM helped in that last game, but there's been lots of games lost on time, so why not? This series is teaching me such a lot about chess, that I haven't picked up elsewhere.
I LOVE this series! It's the best chess series on UA-cam hands down. My only complaint is that too many games are lost on time. The game time is too short to both play and explain and still have time for an end game.
I'm not really a chess player (though I played on-and-off a bit when I was younger and know thw basics), but I've been watching a lot of yt chess vids lately and this is my favourite series. One of the most entertaining and the most instructive. Now go get buddy outta there!
I have to say that this approach of Aman is very strong and extremely commendable. Even at my 1500 level, I feel the urge to obviously deviate from the rules but he has setup. For a GM such as him, this is must be incredibly hard. This approach is basically a way to teach a computer how to play with limited access to depth and some basic heuristics for gameplay.
Aman, u do know that, these series goes beyond chess right? It transcends into life, work, health, play etc. And if we develop our own good habits for work and play, it would be only fair to say that our life would be principled and turn out better at the end of each gift of 24 hours/day. We appreciate the time and efforts you have taken to showcase us these simple but beautiful tips. One question, your STONEWALL speed run, doesnt it play on these very same principles? centre stage asap, develop asap, castle asap, strong centre....the stonewall is the living proof of this...same goes for the Vienna opening/gambit. ..the gambit however are tactics but the Vienna game is a good solid opening. What do you think? Greetings from Billy, India. 22/7/23 Today i made my own building habits for my morning work outs and to work...thank u Aman for making me a better version of myself today than yesterday. Billy. "Bishop G4 is like starting a role-play ... you can't just go bishop G4 and take on F3 and blow your load immediately - no one is gonna want you" 1:49:39
33:09 Allowing the capture of the f-pawn. Brilliant. What would my thought process have to be in order to see that? 'Knight up, he attacks my lose f-pawn. How to protect it? There is only that ugly queen move. Is there something else I can attack? That knight is lose but 'to far away. I have to make the queen move.' Even in my fantacy I could never find that move. The other thing that makes finding this trap difficult to see is that the power point for the x-ray is covered by the knight before it captures the pawn.
I saw the discovered attack coming. Looks like the 500 discovered attack puzzles I did, because I used to hang at least one per game, are finally paying off
"Once your elo goes to 4-digits, it will never go to 5-digits." - GM Aman Hambleton This is the most motivating and demotivating line that I have ever heard😂
😂 Game 15… As my son would say “redonkulous”! And in both 15 and 9 it’s hard to understand the high accuracy with so many moves that look rather sketchy to me. I’d like to know because like everyone else I’ll be using those stats to look at my games & accuracy seems to be very misleading.
Accuracy is based off comparison to the top engine moves for each possible move, and there are lots of situations in which the top engine move is not the *only* way to play the position. In those situations, if you play in a way that isn't the way the engine suggests, your accuracy can drop really low without making a single blunder. I had a game at 70% where my entire movelist was completely grayed out. No mistakes, no inaccuracies, no blunders, but I was rated 70% accuracy. Personally, I ignore the accuracy rating of my games when I study, and I use the engine to break down my game into a series of puzzles to solve. I think it's a much stronger way to study.
@@damioncreiglow8721 That is actually not his question. He is wondering if it is possible for a 1000 rated player to have accuracy over 90%. The answer to that is not that often. However, if you face a cheater, you can do nothing about it anyway in that moment during the game. You could check their statistics and other game accuracy percentages to get an idea about the player.
That was a nice finish to get 1000. I just hit 1001 3 minute blitz last night as well. Hopefully I can beat this Habits Account to 1300 (Next mile stone)
The reason Aman loses some of the matches is that he has to think of a bad move in the position as opposed to the best move his GM brain is telling him to play.
30:51 Wasn't bishop to d3 a MUCH stronger move than what is played here? Knight is no longer guarded by the queen (i.e. it's hanging now), queen has to move, and even if it moves and guards the knight somehow (very unlikely) the rook is there behind it waiting to be taken. A skewer AND a fork!
This is the greatest instructional chess lesson on UA-cam!! Got me to 1000 but there were times when I was screaming for tactics like basic pins and discoveries. I don’t understand @chessbrah EXTRA, why include basic tactics into the habits but then not use them?? I feel like you underplayed just a little especially once you reached 900. A good 900+ player would see most of those basic tactics.
44:22 the idea to put the bishop there doesn’t work with black. 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. Nc3 Nf6 5. d3 O-O 6. Bg5 h6 7. Bh4 d6 8. Nd5 Be6 Too late. Can someone show how to stop it? 2:08:45 How is that not a stalemate? That’s for me to know and for you to find out. 😂
On 13:30 i would have totally 100% blundered my rook on h2. And it seems like Aman knew about it since yesterday... Ok he's a GM but is there anyway to learn how to keep such a good vision of the board other than playing chess daily for twenty years?
Basically just what he says in the video: keep things in the center. If everything's in the center, everything's protecting each other and you wouldnt hang your rook
I kinda like that he does lose some games. I find it weird that most/all GMs always want to win every game, even if they are playing with an alternative account against a total beginner. I agree, but sometimes I wish he wouldn’t lose because he was talking to chat 😂. I am like that isn’t a great habit 😅
If you look at the games yourself, you can (28 Jan to 4 Apr 2021) and Aman has lost 28% of all games he's played in the series. @@AnthonyTaylorJr210 Heh, agree! Out of the 88 games lost, 67 were lost by timeout 😅
This series is the most useful chess tutorial I've seen on UA-cam. And the extended edition is so much better.
Totally . I've only watched this video and got to 1080 immediately. Keep on watching bro!
Agreed. This series has helped a lot.
Shout out to Aman, for playing over 2h , keeping it funny, interesting and educational. Thanks GM

I 110% agree with this comment!
Amans reaction to that Queen sac was golden
Edit: that final game to reach 1000 was a rollercoaster
He turned on gm with 10 seconds left lol.

I'd love some GM memory myself too, but I guess I just gotta stick to the habits. Thanks for the best chess training series of all time.
Some of the more calm content from Chessbrah's yet I get so hype for these uploads! Love the full versions. Thanks again Brahs
LOL: "Guys, the ship is sinking! Hold steady!"
Aman is really entertaining. His jokes and especially delivery are the comedy gold.
Oh man I am rollin'!!! Funniest part of the whole series so far!!!
6:00 New habit: avoid double pawns
16:37 Game 3 is the Vienna!
46:45 after Game 5 we see how to defend the knight pin tactic.

This series is fantastic. Can’t wait until you get to 1100+
Aman is HILARIOUS!! go to game 8 & 9 . He is teaching me and making me laugh at the same time best way to learn .
Does help, so many chess videos literally send me to sleep. Can't sleep while I'm laughing.
That last game was sick. Only a GM could pull those last few moves though.
Thank you for the extra material! Love the serie!
One of the best series i have seen.i wish you another one like it with another tactics and opening ♥️♥️ all love from Egypt

great stuff. leaving this to help me remember which video has the solution to vienna trap.
maintain the foreplay.

for 1:25:57 tough opening avoided if you took with pawn first

for the algorithm! go, Aman! woop, woop 🎉
The Pirate Bay saga was one for the ages.
The last game was wild 😂 i was definitely panicking
The final game of this video is fantastic.
14:15 you just won a rook and now you’re going to hang a rook? Yes.

The reason Aman loses some of the matches is that he has to think of a bad move in the position as opposed to the best move his GM brain is telling him to play.
@5:05 i like his expression.
Last game was golden 🤣
2:01:49 I didn't know you could speak spanish so well
1:49:41 "blow your load immediately" 🤣
One of Aman's funniest episodes LMAO
amans hair was sick in this vid
I got ko'ed 2x today by the Vienna. and I knew you told us... I'm a hands on learner I guess lol. got it now, see the Vienna, make a V. thanks brah.

1:49:52 😂 You're funny
1:49:35 Aman gets a little blue.
best I could do was "rooks to the middle, poke it a little"

Epic roll to 1000
trying to climb the rating ladder in Dec '23. do ppl find that 950-1000 elo now is more like 700-800? or am i just that bad lol
A 900 plus player who plays that queen takes h2 move thinking it was mate is not real lol. I am in the 900s and I’ve never seen such a bad move
