CHILDRENS MORGUE UNDERGROUND - Bristol Royal Infirmary
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 вер 2021
- I had to remove Swintard so sorry for the jumpy edits and audio going silent when it spoke.
This was a childrens hopsital and innevitably this had a morgue and we found it underground which seemed a little bit creepy. We came back in a future video with a Ghost crew and the results were shocking and I had a playful ghost pull my trousers down.

What makes you think this was a children's hospital? Certainly during the 1980s and early 90s - when I was a patient there a couple of times, the Old Building contained the adult medical wards - and the Bristol Children's Hospital was up on the left-hand-side of St Michael's Hill, most of the way to the top. I believe it is currently housed within something called St Michael's Hospital - but I'm not sure whether that's the same thing or not. I guess it may have been rebuilt on the same site.
The building you're in was once Bristol Royal Infirmary in its' entirety. As far as I'm aware it didn't move across the road until the King George Building was opened by George V - I think maybe in the early 1930s; and the new part then contained things like the Casualty department and surgical wards - with what now became known as the "Old Building" eventually being turned over to the medical department - which was still the case in the late 1980s, when I was a patient there.
The two were linked by a tunnel - wide enough for occupied beds to be transferred between the two parts. Needless to say there were large lifts at both ends. If you look at the buildings from the outside, the tunnel was beneath the main entrance/reception area of the Old Building - and what I suspect is now a locked doorway on the opposite side of the road - which is glimpsed at 0.52 and 1.17.44 Indeed, I suspect it was probably behind the camera where you were attempting to pump up the lifts around 59.1 The reason people were taken to the basement is therefore because that's where they arrived from the main hospital across the road, if they'd arrived via A&E...!
The area to the rear of the Old Building and chapel contained mostly single story red brick buildings around the perimeter,. and was the hospital's Works Department latterly, although I guess there may have been accommodation for ambulances and other vehicles in earlier times. Again, these were standing until at least the mid 1990s.
Yeah i was in there as well years ago in my 20s
Who is the ‘criminal scum’ you speak of ? …. I’m sat here eating monster munch on a Saturday night .
my ex was admitted to this hospital 20yrs ago and had to go for MRI scans we were walked through the tunnel. the whole hospital was creepy, especially the chapel and lift. tunnels were at door above the lower basement with the green floor that you see through the double doors.
Great explore as always Matt , you must have had this one in storage for a while with that bastard being in the background ! The Secret Vault Rules !!!!!
Dressing as male nurse, you really fit in Matt. 😂😂
Enjoyed this explore matt, your videos are always interesting 👍
What if you went through that door and ended up in a patient's room?😂 And the person recognized you!
I love all these hospital explores, Mathew Williams always finds some incredibly interesting places to show us, I love it! Thank you! X
Reminder set. O and 1st I believe ?
it wasn't a children's hospital as far as I know. my dad passed away in there in 2008. old children's hospital was at st Michael's hill.
Good health and tidings of speedy recovery. Interesting videos, especially cool intro drone and melody.
I work at the BRI ? Never seen this. Although I used the tunnel often.
Oh yeah I’m with you know I use it have cheap lunch in the canteen y
That building got sold under dodgy deal as Bri desperately needs space but they sold this bit
Good luck mat
Hi Matthew, I just found this video. Did you hear the sound of children crying at the 15-minute mark ?? Thank you for another great explore 👍👍
Liked the vlog from Margaret P
Did I hear a child crying after 15 min mark
Not just me then…

It sounds like the rest of the team messing around

Great explore. Very interesting. Good luck too Matt!

Gy readout = Grays, absorbed dose, lower than dose emitted from X-ray machine.
1st class content as always Matt, hope your ok after your surgery, hope everything goes well with it
The old archways were most likely already , part of something else and the Hospital built on top. It looks like they tried to make use of the old archways by turning them in to rooms
Another great one Matt, Hope your doing OK we would all be lost without your Awesome Streams 🤔 Take Care man, watch what you are doing 👍
Maybe those little rooms where there way before they turned it into a hospital.
It looks creepy
In my thoughts...speedy recovery!
Fantastic clock. I could hear the difference between tick and tock.
i don't think this was used as a children's hospital, the children's hospital was at the top of St Michaels hill
Silver has healing properties, use it all the time on cuts and wounds 👍
lol this was last weeks video only just got notified its up . good job youtube
7:49 Not Stop, Disobey.
I’m from Norwich , Norfolk , but I’ve gotta say Bristol is one of my fav citys for sure , dunno why just seems a different vibe
Hi Matt
Your in the BRI Old Building this has a mortuary in the building that was used for Coroner’s and Hospital post-mortem’s it’s not a children’s mortuary that was at the children’s hospital up the road
Why does it look like you have a screw driver 3:22?
The mention of Jimmy saville 🤣🤣. Loving the humour
I'm not going to watch this one. A family member passed there as a child from a heart condition. Maybe a bit to close to home...
The Freezer you went in at 56 mins isn’t anything to do with either the BRI mortuary or the Children’s hospital mortuary nor is the pink door, the bodies were routinely stored in body fridges any bodies that were required to be kept for any length of time were stored in a bank of body freezers not in a walk in fridge or freezer
Did you put any voice changers? On0:54
I Remember this one was a good one 👍👍👍
FYI That x-ray stuff of that table was worth easy 200K+ in its day. The sensor with the cable and the target is for x-ray calibration and power level measurement.
The other kit is mostly for testing and confirming that the lead shielding is providing protection. The sensor on the floor measures total exposure over time and is a backup to the pocket dossimeters that the radiographer caries. The backup kit is there to comply with radiation exposure restrictions. X-ray departments are under the same regulations and restrictions as a nuclear power station and regulated by the same government department.....
Oh and you were right about the digital plates !
P.S. One of those transformers in the power room would have been for the x-ray as the machine needs multiple supplies including 11KV 😱
I only found out the above as my partners friend was visiting and she was a radiographer !
Hope things are going well for you in hospital !
Old hospitals are my favourite 🤩
Who is swintard?
This was not a childrens hospital
Yes there is a tunnel that connects the Old BRI to the more modern building
There’s what sounded like a child’s cry before you went up the first lot of outside stairs…
time stamp on video?
15:27 onwards. Was live at the time hence why I couldn’t put a time to it.
Matt I'm sure you know this but if you shoot with the 180 rule you wont have that choppy look to your drone footage. so if you shoot at 30 frames per second set your shutter to 1/60 and if you shoot at 60 frames per second set shutter speed to 1/120. Basically just double shutter speed according to frame rate. depending on time of day and the amount of sun an ND filter might be needed to get the correct exposure. I'm sure you know this because I've only actually noticed this choppiness in this video.
The land that’s flattened was the old Bristol coach and bus station
Bus station still there.
The aa building in Basingstoke the post room has the same shelf system
Good explore apart from the sound stopping and starting
Dyslexia has nothing to do with speech !!!! Dyslexia is letters and numbers !!!
Matt when I watch you taking so many risks it makes me think you have death wish. Please take more care and wear a proper mask. Blessed Be x x
you did great with the video sorry you had to edit it all out becouse of a tosser hope you are doing great .
I'm confused, who was the tossed, and what did they do.
It’s misleading as the entrance to the front of the building is on a hill and up a flight of external stairs the “underground floors” come out into a car park at the back, over the other side of the car park in a “temporary” wooden building was the hospital radio studio
tell some more why hospitals needs radio studio for Jimmy Savvile ??? to atract children???
Absolute rubbish..this isn't the children's hospital this is/was the old building
i dont want to be over critical here i watch you an enjoy you,,, but are ya sure its very fair showing where guys workin on site are leaving there tools, now agreed yeah they likely shouldn't leave em on site if they dont want em pinched, but i work on site some times things happen an stuff gets left there an you can bet that some people watchin might no be quite honest,,, thats all im sayin when its an active site with tools kickin about im not sure its fair to point out where the guys are leaving them some of that shit aint cheap
Exactly the tools most tealeafs are out for, definite lack of security.
@@magsman448 an thats it i love what this guy does, but i really dont think he should point out the silly fooks are stashin stuff on site, that dont seem fair, love his shows an like i say i dont really want to criticise, he's a good guy but maybe needs to think of us site workers alittle more,,, thats all
So you're breaking the law now because at 8:58 you admit being told to leave by security yet you still come back.
There urban explorers if they need to break the law they will
It's not breaking the law, it's a civil matter.
@@KeepingUpWithTheJoneses1 If you have been told to leave before and you return it's breaking the law.
