It didn't show any faults for the gearbox, but did show some previous faults. I cleared the codes and will check again in a week to see if they come back.
Completely agree with you even though range rovers can be a pain nothing really compares with them. We have our p38 for 13 years now and I many times I was close on giving up on it but I just can't when it works it's best driving experience
Best one 4.4 tdv8 love mine worth the extra money ,308 bhp it realy moves when pushed ,but like you i just waft along in the plush luxury something about them despite all the faults they can have ,ive had mine a year and no problems at all but I do give her loads of tlc, keep up the vids
Just waiting for the house sale to complete and then we can go shopping, hoping to find a good 4.4 but will settle for a late low mileage 3.6 and some spare money for some expedition accessories.
Hi Benn if you look into the tech info between the 4.4 and 3.6 appart from the more cc they altered loads of things too many to mention hear mainly to make the engine and gearbox more reliable and efficient for example the gearbox is 8 speed and disengages 80%of the drive when idling to save fuel, sorry if you already know these things good hunting anyway .

Hi Ben can you tell me does the icarsoft vll turn of the steering height adjustment at ecu as mine keeps running and would rather have it turned off so does not drain battery
Don’t think so, it can calibrate the steering, but think to switch something off in the ecu you would need some to adjust ccf files. For that, the GAP iid tool would work. But that’s a bit expensive for a one off job.
Would you keep it if it turns out to be just a service needed, or you set on a new range rover. I must admit I do like the range rover, keep the good work up 😊

I have the CR PRO version of this diagnostic tool. I used it a few months back on a 2006 L322 and it was able to tell me how much air pressure was in the on-board air tank. I highly recommend it.
Hi Ben Just a quick one. Does your icarsoft read the td6 engine? I’ve had mine for almost a month and after getting in touch with icarsoft and updating the unit. It says it can’t establish a link to the ecu. If I know yours works then I can at least push for them to sort it out or refund. Thanks
Yes works perfectly on mine, had an issue when I updated it as the old version was still on it. Cleared it all off and just uploaded the newer version and it worked a treat.
Love hate relationship with the rangey! Blah, blah toyota, mitsubish etc - but i'm getting another Rangey lol! Toyota Hilux just run and run and run.....hardy off road too.

If the service doesn't solve it. It could be the torque converter lock out clutch. Think they usually go around the 100,000 miles mark

Shaun Jones I think we have both settled on getting another, she holds the purse strings and has given quite a good budget for the next one.
go for 4.4 308bhp more economical than the 3.6 2912 models around the last of them

Is the indicator stalk set in the normal position? Not sure how the parking lights work on these, it could be that.

Does the TDV8 have the GM gearbox aswell?
The 3.6 TDV8 has a 6 speed ZF gearbox and the 4.4 TDV8 has an 8 speed ZF.
Does that work on air suspension?
stubbs zee we used it to read fault codes on the suspension, and clear codes. Not sure how deep it goes into the system.

4.4 u wont go wrong more economical than the 3.6 and would pull a house down look at 2012 the last of them
