- Part 2 Test of the 10X12 Tarp from Bushcraft USA. This shelter is very versatile in regards to all the shelter set-ups you are capable of doing with a tarp this size. The Tarp retails for $140.00 (because of the Multi-Cam), all the secs and details will be presented in the additional parts of this test series. In this second part we set the shelter up for a week long test. Looks to be a great product, so tune back in for more tests, and final review. www.bushcraftou...
I bought a 10x10 Bushcraft USA Mesh Multi-cam tarp and i'm very pleased with the quality. I have not used it yet, but your review has given me great confidence in the tarps versitility and realiability. I use to use a generic blue tarp that I bought for very cheap but you can not place it very close to the fire without embers burning holes in it. It only took one rough cold and wet night with a tarp full of holes for me to decide that the Bushcraft USA tarp was worth investing in.
Thanks for watching
I think it was just condensation, not a huge deal. The tarp still did the trick.

All true. And the multicam is also fire retardant, which is why it is roughly twice the price of the other colors. Great products from BCUSA.
Have you thought about making a Cantenary cut on the tarp? I've made several tarps with a Cantenary cut on the material. And sewn in a small line on the outer edges! Holds up extremely well in bad weather! And does not flutter or make much noise in the wind!
The multicam is also more expensive because it has about 4 times the waterproofing than the other BCUSA tarps and it is IR compliant to military specs. I have one and it is the best tarp I have ever seen! I have the BCUSA woodland camo one as well. It is nice, but in really bad weather nothing touches the multi-cam.
we all have our preferences . i use a wiggys super light for 3 season or a wiggys iltima thule for cold weather . i use a simple mil type foam pad inbetween the blkbrds layers with a reflectatherm liner on top of pad . so far ive been in -18 f weather . cozy and warm . some prefer the underbags and top quilts because of weight . i live in the south with more humidity so the goose down doesn`t worl as well for me. syntcs work better .ie. wiggys & sngpk . and two dif wght liners . works 4 me .
heres a tip for ya adam....on the end tie outs on your tarp learn to tie a prussik loop with paracord off the ridgeline . it stays taunt , and you don`t have to use no stick toggles that could risk tearing your loops , or the tarp itsel . i`ve been using bushcraft tarps in VERY extreme weather . none of his tarps leak yet . and i have not treated them with anything extra whatsoever . and , i`m usually fairly rough on gear . i love my mtlcm g2 & atacsfg tarps .use with w.b. blkbrd &grnd tarp .
Great video!! Harbor Freight Tools has an great variety of tarps, and I live very close to one if you need anything. You might like their selection?? I even bought their movers blanket for $4.99 to lay on while out camping under the tarp
It's a hazard 4 hat.

On the next tests you can use steel lines instead of corage. This way you are taking the variable of cordage stretch out of equation.
and yes the -18f , was up north , not in the south . i want a cuban fiber tarp yet though in camo when they do em . its being worked on . and no i`m not just a freak about camo , i just prefer a low impact camp & prefer to stay away from the herds . i started hammocking for 3 reasons . better camp spots , away from crowds . and comfort plus ease of camp setup .
etowah outfitters has a few tarps that are similar to this one I don't think they have a 10x12 however they do have a 10x10 which I recently purchased for 55bucks and 15 dollars shipping because I live in Canada. I believe the lower 48 is free shipping. I had similar concerns as to the tab construction that you have with this tarp but I have had no issue as of yet!
Thats a cool British MTP design tarp you got there :)
I am waiting for one of these. Sadly they never seem to be in stock, in any color.
Ive had the 10x10 multi cam for about 3 years and use it regularly. I mostly hammock camp and have used it a lot in heavy rain with absolutely no problems with leaking (when pitched correctly of course). It is starting to sag a bit when using only the corner tabs and a ridge line but I've stretched it pretty good with different configurations. I bought it because of how fire retardant it is and have to say, no holes from embers when all my other tarps have them.
Could that seam moisture be from the paracord wicking from its exposed parts?
Perhaps you could mitigate the cord stretch by using heavier bankline instead of the 550?
--Thanks. A week of testing, and as you can tell from the video, so far - so good! Next, try to get some samples of the material from the company to see how flame retardant it is. So stay tuned.

these DD tarps are 12 x 12 and I think the cost was about £60 UK sterling
Just type in www.ddhammocks.com they now do a 4mx4m tarp in coyote brown as well
better still just click on that link I have just put up, it will take you there.
atb Ray
Thanks for the input
Not sure if anyone has posted the Henessey Hammock Hex Rainfly makes it in both 70D and 30D. It isn't a rectangle but it is 10' x 12' Hex shape and is only $70 for the 70d and $130 for the 30D.
Sorry if this has already been covered, but does this tarp have grommet holes or is it strictly one continuous piece of material? Thanks for the test and upload!
Nice vids
7:05 that's what I was gonna say... damn - I guess it works if you're under it while recording! What happened at 7:55? I saw the drop graphic, but I didn't actually see a drop... Could that have been condensation buildup? Anyways, probably helped Bushcraft sell a bunch of these, I know it's on my list. I'm looking forward to the next week or two. Cheers.
This is a good example of why people buy foreign made products...$140 for a tarp? that's insane! I'm an avid outdoors fan,and I have used a cheap,$10 tarp that has been left out through all seasons, and is no worse for wear, other than a bit of fading! It still repels water, had no tears, and has maintaned it's shape...all of what I expect from a tarp! Too much of bushcraft nowdays has become commercialized...it's all about making big money..in y opinion at least! regardless,I do enjoy your vids!
Adam, check out DD Hammocks, they have some large tarps and show some rather unique configurations. The prices are reasonable even to me,a cheap skate.( Really just financially challenged.)Lol .Thanks for the video. Jim ;-JJD
do you get sirens all the time now? i hear them very often. a LOT more than normal......
how does the material hold against wind?
usa all the way
Do you know if they will be making a A-TACS version as well?
lil pricey for me....but looks like it holds up good
Can't remember, did you give the weight in your previous vid?
Sorry, the link you provided isn't working. The site may just be down temporarily or something.
I got the 10 by 10 brown for 60.00.
do they have Marpat tarps?
Hi! Wow! Super Camp!
Greetings from Old Germany
do you have a video showing various tents that can be set up with a 10x12 tarp? if so, what is the name of it so i can search for it? and if not, is that something that you might make?
Is the back drop portion part of the tarp package or is that what BushCraft USA is referring to as their MEST? They only show the 10x10 on their website, not the 10-x12 you are currently reviewing.
It has been 3 years. Do you still have the tarp? How well has it held up?
how does that badboy pack up?
U.S made wow, Thats the modern camouflage pattern (M.T.P) our troops are being issued with
Sorry, I forgot, they are really light weight
I think what you call condensation on that one line is just water traveling on it, if you tie a piece of paracord , string, on the outside of the tarp, both sides (about 6" or so) the water traveling on that line will stop there . drip to the ground and not collect so much under neath . Thanks for the video
Great tip!
That was also my observation. No drip lines; thus the water simply hit the ridge line and traveled underneath the tarp. I think his test worked well!
E2E backyard was staged for this multi-week test! The tarp is still up and going strong!

Looks to be a ripstop nylon material! I would like to get some of this with Silnylon!
2 lbs, 14 oz. nylon tarp is so 1995... I personaly would use cuben fiber (8,5 x 11 -
5.7 oz )
Roger that. Over and Out. LOL. totally tuned. LOL Cheers ;-))
That Is not a tarp. But It is a Command Post for a brigade sized element.
Adam, have you checked out the Jacks R better 11' X 10' tarp at $129 or Warbonnet superfly at $130?
Even after several years mine is unusable due to a treatment issue with fabric
try Bushcraft Canada
I thought you were out in the wilderness??? What's with the cops at 4:40???
Wow, a tarp for 140 bones!
we review gear, havent gotten to the point of making any yet, Thanks for watching
I tried the link, aaaaand it didn't work :P
6:07 Now it gets interesting. Excellent Testing of this product. Cheers ;-))
1st class bro!

Are you a police officer?
not much better than looking at pictures i don't understand how this really reviews true product setting up in back yard ?????
140$ tarp that leaks....I'll pass..
SPARKS= Waste of $140
$140 and it leaks? Unacceptable.
*****
Unacceptable.
*****
Now THAT sounds interesting. Willing to share your source?
*****
Thank you for the information. I'll look into it. But I have to stand by my earlier statement. IF it leaks, it's worthless. At any price.
***** If it leaks it is completely unacceptable.
This is a survival craft fail! An expensive tarp that leaks and bank line? Paracord always!
paracord stretches when wet, bank line is much better for shelter rigging.
