Didn’t have any interest in smalti-until now. Thanks for another great video. Wish you weren’t half way around the world so I could take a class. Question: would you consider doing a video about mosaicking on different surfaces? For example, I enjoy mosaicking 3-D things like animals. So how would I prep and adhere tess to ceramic, resin, plastic or wooden figures? I found a large, plaster rooster at a flea market but not sure if it would be a suitable surface. Can I mosaic on shiny, glazed ceramics, etc?

Thankyou so much, appreciate that. Smalti is an awesome product especially the Orsoni range. If there are enough people wanting to see a video like that I would look at creating it. I haven't mosaicked onto glazed surfaces although people do, you would need to see what adhesive is available that would suit the glazed surface, the tess and the environment it would be in, some people have used silicone with success but Im not a silicone fan. Another product you might want to have a look at is Dunlop Tile All, I suggest reading the manufactures data sheets on the products before purchasing them or you can call the manufacture to confirm if they will be suitable for your needs. :)

Thank you for your video’s. I live in Belgium and still dont figure out what to use for glue, don’t find out what thinset is to compare with. 🤭

Thankyou so much, I would create a post in one of the Facebook mosaic groups, perhaps someone who is in Belgium could offer an alternative adhesive or perhaps they are already using thinset in Belgium. :)

Hi Peter. What's your take on Italian vs Mexican Smalti? I know with Italian it's more the surface that's used vs the interior with Mexican (to provide the nice texture). Which do you like the best and why? How about in the way they cut, any real advantages to either? Do you see any distinct advantages to one over the other? Thanks.

Hi Christopher. It really comes down to your budget, l really love Orsoni Smalti. I find the colours are more intense and when you facet it the gloss and quality shines. Mexican Smalti is very good but the Italian Smalti will win but you pay for it. I find both cut well with the double wheeled nippers and the hammer and Hardie. 😊
