If you're going to BMQ, Here are a few points: 1) On day 1/day 2: You are going to go back to your barracks at night, lie in bed and think to yourself "What on earth was I thinking coming here. This is NOT for me." I want to let you know, about 9/10 people think that. Do not ask to quit. BMQ is not forever. BMQ is a giant act, a roleplaying event. Once you finish BMQ, life in the army is pretty normal. Again, do not ask to leave. 2) You are going to notice the staff constantly angry and yelling at you and every one around you. Remember, this is a roleplaying event. They do NOT hate you and genuinely want you to succeed. They are going to go out of their way to help you pass and graduate. So don't take their yelling personally, even if it feels real. You'll see, at the end of BMQ, they'll turn off their angry face and they'll be friendly with you and may even joke around. 3) BMQ might feel dangerous. It is not, there are a lot of staff and they are watching over you like hawks. You're in good hands. 4) If you get injured, don't macho it out. It's easier to go see a doctor than to make the injury worse and have to get re-coursed. That said... Please don't abuse this over the slightest pain. 5) At 6 pm, when you are back to the barracks or shacks. The staff will go home and you will be left alone. Do not sit and mess around. Take a 20-30 minute break to decompress then get to work, preparing for the next day. If you do this, you'll be ready for next day by 9:30 pm and you will NEVER be sleep deprived. 6) Give YOUR 100%. The staff can tell if you're giving 100% or if you're slacking off. To give you an example, say you can do only 20 push ups, and john can do 40. You're at 19 push ups, struggling and giving it 100% while john is at 30 push ups and starting to slack off... John will get yelled at for slacking, you won't. Don't slack off, give it 100%, they'll know. 7) Don't give excuses or argue. What ever it is, just learn to stay quiet. When you screw up, and you will, own up to it and fix it. That's what they want to see. What ever you do, don't argue. Just do. 8) Get in shape. It'll make BMQ so much easier for you. You can still pass if you're out of shape but you'll make BMQ just so much harder for you and risk unnecessary injuries. If you don't know what to do, just jog around, do push ups and squats. 9) During BMQ, the staff will give you a command to do. You will hear "Move with a sense of urgency." Have you ever been late to class and were walking down the hall quickly? Or ever done that power walk to the bathroom because you were going to poop/pee yourself? That's the kind of speed they want you to move at. You don't have to run unless they tell you run. Get a watch and always be 5-10 minutes early. 10) Don't be an individual. Be like every one else. If you don't know what is going on, look at what your friends are doing and just copy them. Ask your friends first, don't ask the staff.
I went through it in the mid 80's and your advice is very sound, thank you for taking the time to type this. This also applies to a regular day at civilian work as well LOL.

Thats where I did mine in 2009
Out of curiosity, how does BMQ work for reservists? Is it still 5 weeks duration? Just interested how I would balance that and my career as a FT provincial offences officer.
I am currently doing part time BMQ with the reserves as I couldn't do the full 5 weeks. The weekends are 9 weekends altogether and some Wednesdays.
how much physical endurance should you expect before you attempt to go to this training? e.x. how many pushups...
Godamn I miss bmq
What do you do after bcq
If you guys open up to Foreigners I would straight join on it. Its a great opportunity!
Are there BMQ programs running in the GTA??
Yes! The Army Reserve conducts their BMQ courses in the GTA with this one in the video taking place in downtown Toronto.
There is no grad ceremony
i would like to join but i am a foreigner, how could i do it?
3:04 - 3:16 thats literally me 😂😂
Good Stuff

How long is reserve bmq now?
2 and a half months, you go every 2nd weekend and thursday night.
Standards are at an all time low, easiest time to get in so if you've been thinking about it, go for it.
You'll see the army start recruiting international students in 10 years with current retention lol
We currently recruit none canadian citizens.

@@M.A-k6uthat seems really safe...
@user-nb7co9hs3g seriously? Your letting non citizens in?
I was seriously considering it but now that I've seen that I'm thinking otherwise
@@cmurphy6421 Permanent Residents are allowed to serve but not temporary immigrants like international students or tim hortons workers. I think it's good to let people who call this country home even if they're not Canadians yet to serve if they wish to do so.
Is bmq every two months or just during summers
Every 2 and a half months for Weekend BMQ, it's 6-8 weeks, I'm pretty sure in the Reg force, but I'm not 100% sure.
Is BMQ for reserves only during the summer or is it at other times of the year?
It can be complete part time during other parts of the year or full time in the summer.
If you think, that you’re going to have uniforms that look alike. You’re wrong, go look at any Canadian reserve unit they all look different, non of their uniforms match.
This looks like yoga camp compared to parris island🇺🇸
You determined that off a 4 minute promotional video?
I can join army my as is 30?
yes
Can you be any age ? Too join serious responses only
16 with parental consent into the primary reserves
If you can pass the medical you should be fine. 40÷ requires a more indepth analysis I believe.
@@hithere8753 Thank you brother 😌

Why they show reservist bmq
Because its alot different than the Regular forces.
Mefloquine poisoning, i served 30 years ago in Cambodia and we are still waiting for help . The government told us its not our problem. We had to hire lawyers and still we are waiting for help . Don’t join ! As a veteran of twenty years , I say again don’t join .
Can't we just outsourse to US?
For what? Our own national defense??
considering the Canadian armed forces had 29 volunteers for it last year for the whole country.... no thanx. Plus I hear the morale is down hardcore in the military. fuk that.

Wow this looks like the only serious Group in the whole of Canada’s army and armed forces in general…
