I know there are some new kit and stuff and I wouldn't expect you to answer all of these questions as they are kind of long but it would be amazing again if this was possible, I'm just like honestly super excited and really want to join the CAF as soon as I can...
Ya man no problem. 1.) in terms of filming on BMQ, not really a thing at least for regular force and at st Jean. Not sure about other places. Dp1, I brought my own GoPro and a course video is encouraged by staff, if you don’t have a GoPro, The CQ can actually issue you one for the course video (at least in wainwright) it’s not the greatest GoPro but it might work. If you really want to get some pictures and stuff in BMQ just sneak ur phone out to the field it’s honestly not something they check and having those pictures are great memories. My best awnser to filming for a reservist, is just ask your staff if you can film certain things are more often than not your staff will allow it. 2.) getting specialty courses such as basic parachutist and heavy machine gun courses etc… really just depends on the need for those quals in your battalion and if they are actually running the course. Some courses only have a certain amount of slots and the battalions that need that course for their job will get it over for example a med tech. Basic para, go to 3VP if you really want that course everyone there pretty much gets it. As well 3 VP has the para company which means you actually jump after the course. Same with 3 RCR and 3 R22R however they always have extra space, so typically at 2 VP we send 2 people and there’s a fitness test we do to see who is the best candidate to send to the course then on the course there’s still the fitness test. Machine gun courses you will get right away after pretty much they’re not rare. Basic recce is open to everyone as well, just have to wait until your recce platoon runs the course. Complex terrain operator is also run once in a while and again mountain company at the third battalion will always get priority but the extra space gets filled with 2 VP Recce, snipers and some other people. Just put your name up for every course and soon enough your time will come. 3.) for Kit. Most battalions have the new helmets now. Most battalions have the new MT CADPAT. They are testing new rifles for us currently and some people are getting new night vision. The CAF is in a huge modernization period right now and it’s slowly being sent down the pipeline to the battalions it just takes a while. But now’s a good time to join. Feel free to ask anymore follow up questions, I don’t mind answering at all. Good luck on training.

I have been interested in literally all of the infanteer courses and are literally dying to want to get those qualifications, I literally can't wait any longer as the CAF has always been my goal and always will be, I really want to just you know join and do something in return, so in terms of helmets and all that good stuff including vests and all of that how likely will it be that new recruits get them especially for those in the reserves? Is there anywhere I can contact you on social media if you don't mind so I don't always have to refer to this page as I'm sure i'll be asking tons of questions if you don't mind... For reservists how can I expect BMQ to go like? I just kind of want to get to know the routine if you know anything about it, I know the general details but if you could go indepth a little more that would be great, I know there's a ton of good info on the CAF website and regiment websites but trust me I have gone through most of them within the last two months and a deep search trying to find whatever I can find, now this is one that I really want to go back and ask for courses. How many exactly can you qualify? Is there a max limit of courses like say you were interested in taking basic parachutist, JTAC (interested), and door gunner is the one I really want to do, if you have any tips on what I should look out for that would be great thanks!
Ya man, Jakob.T.Hall is my insta. Just DM me on there. For courses like pathfinder and most of the infantry courses. Your best bet is to join the ref force. As a reservist the slots are very minimal. For example, 1 reservist per year for the whole bridagde only gets 1 slot for the basic recce course. And the basic recce course is a pre requisite to pathfinder. So your chances of it are low not impossible though. JTAC as well. You typically wanna be reg force. It’s just a selection and then a course. So just put in a Notice of intent after a couple years in your battalion and maybe they will select you. Just not a lot of slots go to reservists compared to the regular force. For kit, unfortunately the reserve units won’t be seeing a lot of the new stuff for quite some time. It’s taking a while for the reg force units to get them therefore it will take super long for reserves to get them Routine will be a lot different at BMQ because your a reservist but typically it will be morning PT 0500, breakfast, inspection of your locker and kit. Thens classrooms the rest of day ( weapons and theory etc…) then the field portion at the end. All while they like to punish you in between all those timings throughout the day.
Tent routine. I’m assuming the 10 man tents. Just assign one person to 1 job IE: 1 dude on holding the pole, 1 guy passing out pegs, 1 guy on stove etc… As well for the 10 man tents ensure that your rucks outside of it are always squared away and ready to put on at a moments notice for example, don’t have to much stuff inside the 10 man tent, don’t leave ur sleeping stuff inside. Just make sure that if they bump you. You can tear that tent down and ruck up without fucking with your kit to much. It was -55 degrees Celsius out on this course, my best advice is just to just make sure not to wear a lot of layers during rucks or doing physical tasks. Once they are done and ur sure your static. Dress up and be prepped to take it off fast. Have warm gloves. For me my feet and hands were the hardest things to keep warm. It’s a lot of suffering in the cold and you just have to suck it up.

Let's just say I lost focus because of a girl and ended up going to college instead after getting my High School Diploma. Moral of the story: "Meeting a girl in school is great when you are young, but NEVER forget or get distracted from what your initial plans or intentions were in life before you had met her."
I was thinking about infantry but I didn't realize the weather conditions especially in winter in other provinces like the snow and weather conditions are way more severe than here in Vancouver. ( I never been out of BC) but anyways interesting videos! Looking forward to joining CAF but maybe in another branch still thinking about it.
Infanteer for over 6years now. Do another trade really. You're not paid better and there's not a lot of valuable deployments lately for infantry. Unless you like reiterating DP1 with foreign troops. Look up for Airforce, plenty of high demand trades that are much more fullfilling. The yearly life of infantry gets to you after a while when there's no combat missions, there's only so much floors you can mop and so much Atropians to take in.
@@Tsusday I was actually originally going to air force then i was thinking infantry but I think i will stick to joining Air Force since I am very interested in aviation and planes I know that there are many trades to pick from Air Force so i will do that.
@@Purrluxe If you're into travelling a lot AESOP and Traffic tech travel a lot around the globe. Two trades that are usually high demands. It's my only regret that I didn't go airforce, their morale is so much better and their backs aren't busted.
Stay calm in times of chaos, slow down. When they are rushing you to put your gun together in the AM After inspection, slow down think and do it right. It will make you faster. They will try to rush you by yelling and yes you have to be fast but the best way to achieve that is to slow down, be calm and do the task. Become very close with your boys on course. It’s your team and the closer you are with them the better team work you have not only that but it will increase moral which is huge in the field. Have fun enjoy the suffering, play the game. The staff are there to do a job don’t take it personally.
Did you ask staff for permission to film? I am prepared to ask staff and write a memo to the course o if I have to. Let me know how you got permission if you don't mind.
In Wainwright, I casually asked my staff to film before the first range. No memo needed. My staff let me use my own GoPro. If you don’t have one they will issue a crappy one. I just used the GoPro helmet strap and put the GoPro on my helmet that way.
BMQ is pretty boring. Play their game, the staff are going to fuck with you no matter how well you are doing. Become friends with as many people as you can. Utilize teamwork for every task. When they are rushing you to do something don’t panic or be scared. Slow down, calm down and your will be fast, example: they are yelling at the platoon to get ready after inspection, don’t rush and start panicking, slow down, put ur gun together the right way. Grab everything you need for the day. Put all the other items away. Double check ur locks and then help everyone else who is panicking. Have fun it’s a great time looking back on it. Pizza Gino’s is great pizza. The army is fun man would 100% recommend joining if your considering it.
Don’t. Go to school, get a trade or a education. Be a real man and raise a healthy family. Canadian military is in its worst state ever. Canadians do NOT care about you or the military. Worst decision I made was joining the CAF.

I really wish I didn't miss my opportunity to join the Forces when I was younger. Let's just say I lost focus because of a girl and ended up going to college instead after getting my High School Diploma.
Moral of the story: "Meeting a girl in school is great when you are young, but NEVER forget or get distracted from what your initial plans or intentions were in life before you had met her."
When do you get your dogtags?
Sometime after basic I got mine
I was thinking about infantry but I didn't realize the weather conditions especially in winter in other provinces like the snow and weather conditions are way more severe than here in Vancouver. ( I never been out of BC) but anyways interesting videos! Looking forward to joining CAF but maybe in another branch still thinking about it.
Haha. I’m from B.C. Wasnt use to the cold out in Wainwright. It got to -48 degrees outside for a couple days in the field.
Starting in January ⚔️

@@keepers-mc how long is dp1 in wainwright? How often do ppl drive to edmonton or do yall stay in wainright? I ask cuz im from Edmonton
@@Tribuneoftheplebsmy dp1 was 13 weeks in wainwright. I believe they changed it to 12 or 8 weeks

1 more year till I can enlist.

Where was this? was there any A14 people in your battalion? god is good.

Nothing to be scared of bro. Don’t take the staff personally.

Im in highschool and im really adamant on joining the CAF Infantry...any tips or things to watch out for during Basic?
The army is fun man would 100% recommend joining if your considering it.
dont do it bro, learn a trade. These dudes with no Javelins and no electronic warfare kits. They ain't it
Don’t.
Go to school, get a trade or a education.
Be a real man and raise a healthy family.
Canadian military is in its worst state ever.
Canadians do NOT care about you or the military.
Worst decision I made was joining the CAF.
any training with drones?
Nope they are still using Carl Gustaf's , that have trouble taking out a BMP

for real. they need to be training how to use and defend against drones.
@@chocolates182 they really do, 9 years in 11 Field artillery here and they changed the battlefield for us especially the FOs yet there is no equipment to deal with them on the gun line.....
@@chocolates182 as they walk in a conga line. our training is totally outdated.
Fuckin A, from a CAF Vet.
Thank you fellas
Nobody allowed to go buy white bed sheets to use to break up that uniform? Instead we march around like black ants silhouetted against the snow?
On the infantry course we don’t use the winter camo as we’re focusing on practicing and learning very basic infantry skills. However, we typically wear winter camo in the snow.
was cqb portion live fire?
No simunition
live fire CQB is only reserved for those who do something like going into actual urban ops course, even then im pretty sure you are not yet trusted with live ammunition.
Too bad my unit doesnt have enough staff to hold a BMQ...
Damn we use pickaxe instead of shovel we're badass haha
I start BMQ in 9 days. Armored Soldier

I honestly wanted to join The CAF my whole life but as a grew older i could never support a country that does not respect me
dude never talk with that "i was about to join" bs... you were never going to, plus for some trades you would hate it because you will not be respected untill you learn to take the higher ups abuse and play their game.
