I had an instructor during BMQ years ago that was a pathfinder. The man was easily the most rugged individual I've met to date in my entire life.
MCPL Chabot? I had him back in 2002.
What do you mean by rugged?
WO Cushman?
Back before BMQ even existed (yes, I’m THAT old) one of my instructors on QL2 (what basic used to be called) was a British Army guy who transferred to Canada back when the UK drastically reduced.
He was pathfinder qualified.
Easily one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met. But even now, 20yrs later, I can look back and honestly say “Still one of the toughest people I’ve ever met.” Wasn’t macho at all, but damn that guy had a presence about him.
WO Webber
I wanted to become a pathfinder but after barely passing basic reconnaissance course, I was like “pathfinder course is way way way more hard than this” got so much respect for those guys
Same bro lol
How long did it take to reach up to the pathfinder course? What’s the average age for a pathfinder?
@@annaholton422 Not sure since I was never one but most people I know are in their mid 20's and early 30's. It could take a while depends on the timing since they don't do the courses very often. You have to go through basic recce course and advance recce course then you get to do Pathfinder course selection not sure if it's still the same since I've been out of the military for a while now.
@@distortish ok thanks my son-in-law (22) is highly interested as a infantry soldier for about 1 year and is waiting for a chance to compete with the pathfinders or another speciality like that
@@distortish you dont need advanced recce just basic recce
You are the man! To put this on UA-cam, and show how amazing these elite operators are. Thank you, we need more. Keep up the good work.
*me sitting on the couch eating Doritos* I could totally do this.
🤣🤣🤣
U can definitely do it man ..stop putting limits to yourself
Same lol
24 started, 9 finished but they didn't mention how many died of cardiac arrest during training 🤣
U prolly can
The Canadian military kicked ass in WW1 and WW2.
Some of the best trained military in the world.
yea, now the majority of the infantry quit in the last 10 years , and there is nobody to replace them. recruitment is down, training is down, all due to coronavirus, meanwhile china is recruiting and training at a higher pace than ever, not vaccinating or masking their troops, and feeding them non propagandized diets. we are going to get steamrolled in ww3
Yeah during WW2 we were absolutely savage against the enemies.
that was a long time ago
now it's all about Trudeau Pushing the LGBT freak Agenda on the entire military.
that time is over buddy
@@ejd7881 we still have the best trained infantry
Happy to see 3 & 2 PPCLI in the mix, as a retired Pat, (2PPCLI) it fills my Heart with pride to see the next generation of our best.
Second to none.
What is the average age for a pathfinder and how long did it take?
@@annaholton422 (Not a PPF but work next to them) I'd say around 30 and course takes around 3 GRUELING months
Hey bro, meet you second Italian. It was hard, it was good.
Sorry. This a I **** me off. Second battalion same as you. Some of the best brothers in my life.
Thank you to all our great soldiers up north, your truly appreciated
Makes me proud to be Canadian and this elite group of soldiers are here to protect us, thank you all Pathfinders🇨🇦
@antoinebrosseauhopefully the election
Trudeau is making you proud
Now this is promotional material I wanna see. Not the other stuff
Agreed. This is the real deal.
Right?
C'est le genre de vidéo que les forces Canadienne doivent mettre en évidence . Les forces Canadiennes sont dans les meilleurs Bravo pour la vidéo. This is the kind of video that the Canadian Forces need to showcase. The Canadian forces are in the best of the best Bravo for the video
Less culture change powerpoints and more of this please
24 started and only 9 made it and 5 of’em from R22R - the “VanDoos”. Tough as nails SOBs. Bravo and Respect!
The amount of shit the ROC gives to Québec is too much when you look at how many québécois are in the army... like holy shit, one of the 3 battalions of the CAF is based in Québec and almost completely filled with french-canadians...
3VP are the best.
And 6 of them comes from Quebec if you count the 5 RGC Guy.
Tough as nails.
Typically, only 1/4- 1/3 ever pass the course.
Love the finish - carry the torch with pride, be uncompromising leaders, remain humble and keep in mind you remain the standard. That is true leadership.
Oh God I love my country and miss my pathfinder warrant who used to push us to the limit. Right royal harsh. We held the standard high.
These guys are hard a/f, and at 2:32, the cow stops it's advance after the candidate just gives it 'the look'.
If you think the Cows are scared, you should see the Goats faint!
Gratitude to CF Pathfinders and all who serve in the Canadian military.
The arty sim whistle will never get old for me
I've been following this group on Socials! Wicked to see them complete the course.
Thank you for putting this on youtube!
Video production, One word… outstanding!
Outstanding. Thank you for your service!
Great too see a tough outfit from Canada! Reminds me of the Parachute Regiments elite Pathfinders!
Had a couple of pathfinders teaching our battleschool course in 88. Awesome instructors in my opinion. Pro patria.
Canadian Patrol Pathfinders, awesome, grateful to all those serving, and those who have Sacraficed for our country and freedom
One of the courses i did during my career ! definitely recommend it
🧢
I was on a leadership course at CFB Petawawa in 86 . We would frequently seen soldiers taking the Pathfinder course in the field. Usually alone . We were told avoid any contact. These guys were dialed in and usually running . It was by far the toughest course and we all looked up in admiration at these next level soldiers.
Those are some badasses. My knee hurt just watching this video 😄
De vrais commandos et de solides gaillards bravo les Pathfinders ❤❤❤
The Canadian Armed Forces are the underdogs in military combat.
Under paid, under funded, outdated gear, underdogs. Our government really does not like to spend money on our armed forces at all.
It's not always about high tech gear sometimes it's about mental acquity, and using what you have around you, stay humble. See the wind be the branch.
Top notch video, Hugo!
Very well done! Cant wait to see more!
You are looking @ my childhood in out port Newfoundland but we never used lines all free hand over cliffs swimming in the ocean made our own explosives used all types of fire arms and hiked 14 km to our cabin. OH the days before computers when the out side was your play ground! Great video - faces should be hidden from view, trust me Ivan is watching with his Alpha Spetnez units you know the 1% of the 10% who try out for RSFs.
The baddest dudes in CAF hands down. RESPECT!
Wow, great video!!
Have many brothers that became Pathfinders...proud of them for going th distance
That’s for all you do to keep us safe and all who need to be protected
Awesome video!
coooollll enfin des videos sur nos militaire .......ya man
Much respect!!
Even the symbols are the same, the difference is that to be a precursor to a parachutist u have to take several specialization courses 'pqd' (parachutist), which are held in Rio de Janeiro
It's neat when you recognize your buddies in this video.
Good stuff Hugo!
I know several of these fellas; excellent soldiers.
Great video!
Amazing Channel pal!
looks like lots has changed and improved since my day- one thing that hasn’t is the size of the ruck.
Absolute units!!!
I think most countries have a pathfinder unit, the Brazilian equivalent is the Cia Preq Pqd (Company of Pathfinder Paratroopers on a rough translation), they're pretty much the precursor of the special forces in the country,
Well done pathfinders! 👍🍺🎂🇨🇦
In 1987 I was medically RTU'd off this course turned ankle. In eighteen days I lost 35 pounds. Hardest thing I ever attempted. I seen three cases of heat stroke other students.
I now know what I'm gonna be gunning for in the Army 👍🏻
same!
I'll see you there bud! 👊
Damn look at that CHAD at 1:24, guy is almost dead but still pushing forward and using the radio.
70 pounds on his back, prob has rucked for over 10 miles at that point
Débile! Merci! You guys rock and kick ass! We are so put down as other countries think they are the best!
We don't flount it. We prove them wrong!😉 🇨🇦
Rangers Lead The Way.
You meant kiss ass !
The Queen'$ one
Absolutely no one is putting you guys down, and it's a bit ironic you say you don't "flaunt it," yet that's exactly what you're doing. 😅
Bravo Zulu. Incredible men. Warriors all.
respect from Brazil
Do you have to complete the paratroop parachute course to enrol onto the patrol pathfinder course? Are there an pre-requisites? As an infantry reservist, what are my chances of getting a spot?
Awesome !
I have given my only son to the Canadian Navy, this is his first year and he's loving it.
#WarIsOnTheHorizon hope you guys are ready.
Good job Super intéressant.
This should be a recruitment video! The latest recruiting video that I have noticed circulating portrays potential CAF members just riding around on mountain bikes….🤷🏼♂️
bravo !
9 made it, however none remained after the final true test. Camping for a week in a swamp in July.
All that was found after that week was empty clothes and teeth. It started with slapping themselves, then slapping each others followed by intense dementia. Then all were eaten alive by the same mosquitoes that turned them nuts.... You can only see this in the Director's cut version.
we have great men we work to be good and hard men only to be forgotten by our great govenment
Proud of our fkn guys. We don't make big Hollywood style movies to praise them. They live their lives unsung. But goddamned glad they're on our side.
Post Somalia, MFP. Class of '93.
I was looking at joining them when I get the chance too
So is this your film Hugo or the CFs. It’s a very good bit of work.
God bless 🙏
The Van Doos… still hard core.
This is a 3 month course equivalent to U.S army ranger training. The marine pathfinder course is 3 weeks. Pretty tough bunch.
Respect! CHIMO!!!!!!
Thumbs up for the “realistic training exercise…” next to the moo moo.
this training looks intense always wanted to go in the army but i grew lazy....
We might be few but don't mess with us. Thank you to all serving.
Yeah yeah yeah....whatever.
The people, force and gear has really improved since 83 when I was issued the 64 pattern gear (Velcro). Shit.
What a fucking bag drive that course would be….. hats off to the Men that complete it 🇨🇦👍
Canada ! Brilliant always there when yous look to the side of us. UK.
Damn, I liked just for that Grizzly voice. Jealous much.
My fat ass that isnt even ready for basic yet:this is guna be me someday.
Anyone know what sort of packs these guys are using?
Somebody has to go first!
How would you go about getting to this course if you're a new infantry soldier at your battalion?
Go jump then sign on to an Airborne qualified unit.
The Canadian Pathfinder certainly does require more that the US one. Just my opinion but US should consider combining their Pathfinder course with their Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course and reestablish dedicated units.
100%! I was thinking the same too. For whatever reason, the US Army thinks they don't need pathfinder training. If they combined it with the Reconnaissance Surveillance Leaders Course, they could knock out 2 birds with 1 stone, and they would not have to worry about losing the skills pathfinder teaches.
I would go so far as to argue that Pathfinder should be first, then the course can transition into RSLC. That way if a major war suddenly happens while students are in this now 11 week long course, all they have to do is make it to week 3 and they have one skillset knocked out vice trying to do the 8 weeks of RSLC first which would take longer.
Of course, since you'd now have to complete RSLC to earn a Pathfinder Badge, the Army should allow Soldiers to wear the RSLC Recondo Arrowhead Badge with the Pathfinder Torch in the middle to signify the completion of both courses/ attainment of both skills. 😉
The US Pathfinder course is not the same thing at all. Heavy academics though. The CAF course is like a shorter version of CCT.
How many qualified Pathfinders do we have?
Pat Oniel my fellow canadian. His training needs to be instructed again.
True north 🇨🇦
Je suis surpris que le visage de ces soldats d'élite sois montrer en vidéo. Meilleurs des chances a ces soldats et merci pour ce que vous faites
🤦♂️
Solide
Still the toughest course you'll ever be lucky enough to get.
I bet they are handsome too. Very talented guys.
I will love to join
You want your kid, in this program 😎
This will make you quit smoking lol
Van Doos producing big time pipe hitters. Cheers
This is the hardest, most dangerous and most draining section of the CF.
👍
Found the person who went for combat camera
What is the difference between these guys and the reconnaissance patrolman?
Special Forces, they didn't just advance recce , but many other jobs ( hostage recuperation and take hostage ,airport or many on the field neutralisation, sabotage, etcccc ) They works too with JTF2 ans CSOR to Petawawa in Ontario with one Pathfinder platoon , and 3 R22R, 3 PPCClI , 3 RCR have an unit of Pathfinder in each Bataillon
Are those boys running Mystery Ranch bags? I hope the CAF paid for them.
Hahahaha I doubt CAF issues anything close to mystery ranch.
Can Combat Engineer do this course ?
Who'd of thought Canadians were such badasses...:)
