    so awesome hearing Rivers (quite possibly one of the funniest women ever) telling Fisher she's so funny at the end. as it happens, I had the privilege of meeting Carrie two weeks before she died and told her the same thing. I'll never be sure, of course, but I'm pretty sure she beamed with happiness when I said this.

    It's weird to hear Carrie talk about having a heart attack since that's what she ultimately died of. 😢 There has never been anyone like her. She was one of a kind. I miss all the jokes she won't be able to tell now. She was funny in a way that no one else has ever been. I would have loved to party with her in my 20s.

    • @Historian212
      @Historian212 Рік тому +2

      So what? She was a brilliant writer who was hired as a script doctor for many movies she wasn’t credited for. It was said that if a comedy script needed help, she was the go-to person. You don’t get those gigs from nepotism. You get them because you’re quick, smart, and funny. As for her affair with Ford, she was 19 or 20; he was in his 30s. If anything, he took advantage of her. Debbie Reynolds was a terrible mother, dragged her out of school as a young kid to take her on tour, forcing her to perform at 13, when she should have been in school with friends her own age. Reynolds used her as a support when she should have been her daughter’s support. Carrie had no proper upbringing. How was she supposed to resist temptations older and more experienced people don’t?

      To Historian212 - I think you're 100% right on in your post.
      I had the great pleasure of (VERY) briefly meeting Joan Rivers in the Summer of 1981, when I was working a summer job as a musician at a club on the strip in Vegas called The Country Club.
      It has always upset me that so many people (I don't call them fans) have picked on Carrie WRT her drug use. The working atmosphere of the entertainment world in those days was filled with cocaine use.
      To say thar Carrie was disabled because of drugs is belied by the lightning swiftness of her free form wit and repartee here with Joan Rivers.
      The charm and calmness of her personal vibe is a pleasant bulldozer against her detractors and a delightful flash of lightning to entertain her many admirers.
      I was working opposite a hypnotist at a club in Seattle for a week or two in the summer of 1977 and our 2-hour breaks coincided perfectly with one of the showings of the original Star Wars at a theater just a couple of blocks down the street. It was a great experience getting immersed in the genius acting, writing and technical production so amazingly presented by the teriffic talent displayed by George Lucas and company.
      To those who question Carrie Fischer's beauty and star power on the screen then and later in this awesome interview with Joan Rivers I can only say "I find your lack of faith DISTURBING" .....
