In this video, I go over if The Farmer's Dog is actually easy to feed your dogs by showing you how I've been feeding our three dogs this food for the past 18 months. From the recipes, storing, separating, and feeding, you'll learn everything you need to know about what it's actually like to feed your dogs The Farmer's Dog on a daily basis.
You're probably looking for the best dog food for your pups, and The Farmer's Dog is absolutely one of the best healthy dog food delivery options available today. It's better than Ollie, and its human-grade fresh dog food is beloved by dogs (and the humans that pay for it!).
It seems like we're always seeing ads for fresh dog food delivery services, but The Farmer's Dog has worked really well for our poodle, westie, and schnauzer for the whole time that we've been customers. A big reason why we stick with it is because I think it's one of the easiest dog foods to feed that your pets will actually like. When you're looking at recipes and options for your dog, I hope that this video helps you decide if The Farmer's Dog is right for you.

After I squeeze the bag, and when it’s empty, I fill the empty bag with warm water, then do a flavorful soup for coco on the side by side bowls
It’s such a great tip! I’ve started doing that for our senior dog too!
Great idea!! 🙏
Thank you 🙏 Your dogs are adorable 💕💕💕
Thanks for watching! And Miles, Grumpy, and Alfie say thank you!!
Hint to FD. Having a cup equivalent would help or easier portioned packaging.
right?
Excellent video. Starting my dogs tomorrow!
Thank you! Make sure to transition slowly like any other dog food :)
Am using Farmer’s Dog thanks to your videos. Thank you so much! So far, so great 🎉
So glad to hear it, Kinley! Thank you so much for letting me know!
My 3 dogs love this food and it's only been one week since we began.
Thanks for the tips. 😂
Yay! I’m so happy they helped!
Great video
Thank you so much!
Hi. My godson sent me his referral link so after watching your videos, I signed up for my 2 goldens. They are 9 mo old and they always ate well…until,I just bought some kibble they don’t like. I’m wasting a ton of food, but worse, I’m worried they aren’t getting nutrients. They are very active. I mix the kibble with canned and still not eating well. Added liverwurst and they helped, but Im looking forward to Farmers. Thank you.
I hope your pups love it, Janice! Two of our dogs are SUPER active all day, and it makes me feel a lot better that I know they’re eating well. Crossing my fingers for you!
Our dogs do the same thing with the bowls when they're done! Never a dirty bowl left in this house either! 🤣
😂 the bowl is like looking in the mirror when they’re done!
This is a kind of long winded question/inquiry. But I am feeding this meal plan to my pug. Which she usually was eating FreshPet dog food. I usually give her 2 scoops, measured out with a 1/3 measuring cup.
I feed her twice a day, & it’s in the range for her weight (she’s about 16 pounds). Now I am doing the introduction process, mixing with her old food.
But on their website they say if you feed them twice a day, you should feed them 1/8 of one pack. Is their any specific measurement amount, that could help my portioning.
Since the packs have different amounts in them based on your dog, it might be tough to say how much that 1/8 is. However, I’ve always been totally good just eyeballing it for our 3 dogs.
It might also be good for you to put a pouch in a container first. Then you know you’re going to go through 1/4 in a day (1/8 2x if I understood your portion correctly), and that’s pretty easy to visually portion out with a spoon.
Can you use this as a mix in to kibble ? Fromm Gold is the kibble.
You can! I think that’s a good way to make it more affordable. You’ll just want to adjust your order a bit.
Thank you for all your info. Watching more of your videos. Very informative!
@@MNcntrygal Thank you so much!
I just started FD. Tips so far: I put their food in a rectangular Pyrex container and cut it like brownies. Then it’s easier to portion. Also I add water to the pouch and use this in their food. I heat the water in the microwave for a few seconds. At this point I’m not sure if I will continue. I may use it as a topper or go half and half. From what I’ve read calories are important so I’ll figure that out. The food seems to upset my dogs stomachs. One dog has been on a prescription biome food for most of his life. I’m going to give it a little while longer and see.
Did you transition slowly?
I thinking of feeding this your videos help are they custom made for your dog in case your worried about weight?
I’m so happy they help. They are! You can specify your dog’s body shape and it’ll be customized for their weight and shape. Don’t forget to get 50% off! thefarmersdog.otegtm.net/davechung

Do you heat it up or simply let it defrost from the fridge ?
Just defrost! No heating needed!
@@davechung okay thank you!!
Hey Dave, after trying EVERY wet and dry dog food under the sun I finally decided to try Farmers Dog. I was excited because I want to feed my puppy the BEST food available. But she doesn’t like it anymore than any other food. She doesn’t like ANYTHING! And I don’t want to feed her JUNK. But I think part of the problem is having to serve it cold. I don’t know how to warm it up? Someone at Farmer’s Dog suggested putting warm water in it but even the smallest amount diluted it. Any idea’s?
Hey Chris! Ugh that’s tough - so I occasionally put a small amount of hot faucet water in with one of our dog’s food (the food cools it down, so it’s not anywhere close to burning hot). It gets a little soupy, but the smells are much stronger.
If that doesn’t work, is there a tiny sprinkle of a dry treat you could use? Treat dust from the bottom of the bag has worked wonders for us with our pickiest dog, or even just a few shreds of Parmesan (because of the smell). It might show her that the food is worth a shot until she gets used to it!
Just started using do you thaw them in the fridge
Yep! Just in the fridge for about 12 hours or so! It stays good in the fridge for a few days after it’s thawed.
Hey Dave. My Max( Cavapoo) doesn’t want to eat any food himself even the farmers food.I have to feed him otherwise he won’t eat any tips . He is 14 weeks
Ah that must be frustrating - I have been there before! Have you tried switching his bowl or moving the location of where he eats? If you’re doing The Farmer’s Dog, I add pretty hot water to the bowl and make it almost like a warm beef stew for one of our dogs, and that helps a lot.
Of course, you could always do a little sprinkle of crackers or cheese, but I know some really don’t want to feed human food, but it might help to get max to eat!
Can you give it to them warm ? Would it still be ok ?
You could! I wouldn’t cook it because you’d lose some of the nutrients, but I legit put some hot water in there for one of our dogs. It’s definitely warm when he eats it 😋
I just ordered my first 14 day box. My dog is currently eating here dry food. And you can just tell she doesnt like it. Well im changeing that
I hope she likes it, JB!
If you cut the top, and then down the length of one side, the food will fall out whole with very little left in the bag.
Great tip, Chad! Thanks for adding it!
You feed this to them, cold, right out of the fridge?
Yep! No cooking at all since it’s already cooked.
All these videos have the bowls just about full 😂 I misunderstood the directions for my 15 pound girl. She started to get a little
Chunky. I found out I was doubling her food 😆🙄 OK let's go over to our puppy
😂 oh nooo! Hahaha you’ll see the pounds drop off fast once you get it right.
You give 1 bag to all 3 of them? They don’t have their own bag?
For most people, the dogs will each get their own bag! Since our dogs are smaller, it’s cheaper for me to combine them to one pouch (and less bags to throw away!).
I make my own fresh dog food from Vet approved recipes every 5 days. It’s fresh and they eat 2X a day. 12 ounces for my 65 lbs 10 yrs old Boxer and 4 ounces each for my 2 Jack Russells aged 3 & 1. I supplement their food with the Iceland Pure Unscented Pharmaceutical Grade Salmon Oil (Amazon) and my dogs have the best coat, shiny and soft and they’re at their best weight ever. Poops are smaller and they lost that nasty dog smell. Dogs can’t wait for their meals. Can’t get any better than this !
That’s awesome!! I admire that. It’s so great when the dogs smell great, and their poops are easy!
If you can make your own then good for you. I probably could too but this is more work than I thought.
