One of my favorite things about this show is how it frequently uses action anime tropes effectively, in this case showcasing what I call “power martyrs”, in the sense that a character is presented as strong in order to make him lose to another one, hence making the new guy seem stronger. Fusion did this by introducing Gingka as a flawless paragon who’s cool attitude is brought to the ground against Ryuga, improving both characters and creating shock. In Masters it’s done here with Julian losing everything he holds dear against Damian in a battle I can only describe as chilling. The demonic undertones of his music themes, the uncanny flow of the animation, and that face Julian makes in the end all create this sense of terror towards this new character. Finally in Fury it’s used in Ryuga’s desperate last stand against Rago, as he tries to use every move and opening in his arsenal, and you see him being destroyed every time he finds the strength to stand up, making it the most tragic loss of these 3.
You also forgot to add hiyoma in metal fusion being introduced as a capable blader who beat gingka ever time they fought but got toyed with by reijis poison serpent bro actually cried and pushed away his friend after his bey was legit destroyed.
They did this in the original series as well. In the first season, Lee, Michael, (virtually all the All Starz) were propped up as the strongest and technologically advanced bladers in the world, only to get absolutely dog-walked by the Demolition Boys, especially by Black Dranzer. In V-Force, Ozuma was depicted as an unbeatable mysterious blader defeating the World Champ Tyson twice and never losing to him even once, only to end up losing against the final antagonist Zeo in the end. In G-Revolution, the final antagonist of the first series Tala was not only nerfed from being a blader capable of destroying the entire world to losing against secondary characters like Rick and Daichi, but he was obliterated by Garland multiple times to the point where the stadium was made with an in-built cage to prevent him from losing from a stadium out. This seems to be a very popular trope in Beyblade its kind of sad
@@Mochetatek It´s a common trope in a lot of action animes, but my point was that at least in Beyblade Metal, all of these feel like they have a purpose and a certain mood that they achieve beyond "ooohhhh this new guy is so strong", as they often improve the character that loses as much as the one that wins.
Ryuga was basically the "pseudo-deus ex machina" since he was by far the strongest person in the entire world with no one even challenging him in a fair battle. Then he fights the cheater Rago and it is made clear how utterly broken Rago and Nemesis are. Not to mention that since Ryuga is a fan favourite, we all developed a healthy hatred for Rago.
@@thetruesquad5059Gingka's voice is by Rob Tinkler we know, he voiced Rubeus from Sailor Moon, also Brooklyn from Beyblade G-Revolution and he sounds more mature. Maybe they were trying to mimic Gingka's voice to be like a kid or a horse? 😂
Julian's loss to Damian was definitely humiliating. Not only did Damian defeat Julian twice in a row, but the second time was a worse defeat than the first. Julian's gravity destroyer was at its strongest, but it was no match for Hades Kerbecs in boost mode. Damian just pushed Julian to begging as he was losing, and even when Sophie and Wales came to Julian's aid, Damian still beat all 3 of them. You know seeing this battle again, I really wished that Damian had made some sorta of appearance in Fury since he is the only member of Team Starbreaker not to return in Fury. He was such a interesting character and I really wanted to see more of him.
We don’t really know anything about him, and that’s intriguing. All the other Star Breaker members had some kind of background story, except for this guy. The only thing we know is that he was a kid who Ziggurat took under his wing, and that’s it. We don’t know when or why it happened, where he came from… Nothing. And also as you said what happened to him after Metal Masters is unknown

yeah bro the plot armour did damian dirty 💀 bro was winning against gingka, litterally tortured his ass but losed becouse gingka was "doing this for his friends and power of friendship"
Say whatever you want about Julian being a snob, but he was genuinely skilled blader and one of the strongest new characters in the Metal Saga (along with Dashian and Damian), being one of the very few characters in the series to actually beat Gingka initially, and unlike Damian, he didn't use an arrangement to get powerful I also think Julian has one of the best and most overlooked character arcs/developments in Masters and having his snobby worldview changed, started with his pride being wounded with Gingka, Damian completely shattering it, to being given a reality check and wake up call in his battle with Dashian, and in that loss, eventually being more resilient. He actually came out a better and humbled man. In a twisted way, he needed these losses
I don't think I've seen anyone talking about this, but just think about it. Out of all the members of team Excalibur, Klaus, the SUB, was the only one who won in a battle against team Gangan galaxy, while the 3 main members lost, and it was live. No wonder those 3 were salty towards Gingka and the others. And it must be especially humiliating for Julian.
@@NoahShiley Ryuga literally made Chris, Aguma, Johannes and Bao run away 30 seconds later after his arrival to the stadium. Damian would die by his ultimate move.
Gravity Destroyer was incredibly powerful even Damian acknowledged how if he were a normal blader, Julian would’ve won multiple times. Damian was just so broken because of the Arrangement system he had been put through. Basically was on steroids. Also Julian was still just so cocky until his special move did absolutely nothing.
I remember when I was watching this for the second time I didn’t want to hear Julian say that he was weak because I felt really bad, so I just skipped the scene where he says it 😞
They did Julian dirty. The match shouldn't been one sided since Julian is a very powerful blader. Ginga had to get coached by Ryuga and think of a new special move to defeat him, and It was pretty close. This just makes Ginga's and Kyoya's wins seem even more fraudulent, if Damian is really THAT GUY.
personally when Julian lost to Damian it made my blood boil but at the same time it was kinda satisfying cuz Julian thought he was him until this, but at the same time it was super satisfying to see Damian's ass get kicked Ky🪀 and Gingka
This was a gentleman victory. All Julian suffered was humiliation. True he lost dignity due to the easy manner in which he lost but he didn't suffer any damage. He also gave similar humiliation to the entire Desert Blaze team alone and his teammates crushed wang hu zhong in similar fashion in two straight rounds. Did he suffer physical damage and was he mortally wounded like Ray suffered when he battled Bryan or Tyson against Tala. Did he lose his beast like the all Starz white tigers max and Kai lost their bit beasts to the demolition boys. And Max Ray and Kai lost their bitbeasts to Jim, Dunga and Zeo. Did he suffer the ultimate physical damage and get badly wounded like Spencer and Bryan against Garland and Hyoma and kenta and yu suffered against the vicious Reiji. Did he nearly die in the battle and got his Beyblade destroyed like Spencer and Bryan suffered and Kai's crushing loss to Brooklyn and Ryuga's thumping and dirty wins against Hikaru, Tsubasa, Kyoya and his own Dark Nebula bladers who were loyal to him like Kumade Bros, Dan, Reiki, Tetsuya, Capri and even Doji and what Ryuga himself suffered against Rago. He just lost dignity not his bitbeast or Beyblade, nor his physical or mental health condition like all these battles. So this might be humiliating but never critical.
Humilating losses include Demolition boys vs all stars Kai and his black dranzer vs white tigers Kai vs tyson ray and Kenny in round 1 before max entered. Max vs emily Ozuma vs tyson Tyson and Daichi vs Ray and lee Garland vs Spencer and bryan then vs Tala Kai vs Brooklyn round 1 Gingka vs Ryuga round 1 Reiji vs Hyoma Ryuga vs Hikaru Gingka yu and masamune vs julian sophie and wales
The power scaling made no sense in season 2. Julian was nigh untouchable until he lost to Gingka. Then this Kerbecs fellow makes a complete ass of him, only to them lose to Gingka as well, despite how close his fight with Julian was. Then Julian loses to Dashian, who lost to Gingka back when he was no match for Julian at all. And let's not forget this is also the season where the boy genius with the huge seismic laser became fodder.

I swear to God, when I watched this shit as kid, Julian state after he lost was fucking terrifying to me…
I love this show, RIP Ryuga.
He didn't die.
In the anime, Ryuga died. In the manga, Ryuga is alive, and he battled Sakyo and won.
Damien had Julian begging. there would be no way that I would ever beg in front of another dude
Julian could've just returned his bey to his hand to forfeit the match rather than to beg
@@ninjapirate123but he’d be looked at as a coward
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 but thats still better than taking hits
@@ninjapirate123Nah I’d say taking those hits was way better than him just simply walking away. In reality his pride and ego got the best of him and made him stay even after his team stepped in.
@@ViciousEmpire That was a big mistake then
Julian: Alright, time for my full power
Damian: Okay, I’ll do the same
Literally everyone else: I’m sorry, what the fuck?
I remember watching this fight as a kid and oh dear Lord was it just sad to look at. This was pretty much one of those fights that was completely one sided and hard to watch as Julian was being reduced to such a pathetic state. Even despite getting all the help from his friends.
And also as you said what happened to him after Metal Masters is unknown
many of the characters in Metal Masters shouldve had a major role in Fury imo
Yay, I remember when I was watching that episode on Netflix when I was like 4 or 5, I paused the episode for a full minute because I was shocked by how shallow and humiliated Julian face looked.
For anyone who took part in WBO tournaments 10 or so years ago, you'd know the power of "Gravity Tank", a combination of Kerbecs & Perseus that absolutely destroyed the meta game. Damn the old days were good
I’ll never forget when Damien told him “nice stuff now check this out” right after sophi and wells both came and helped him
Also “do this is the eyes of Medusa not a big deal is it”
Nah the most humiliating lost in the entire Beyblade Metal Saga series was Reiji Mizuchi vs Hyoma, the way how that bastard ruined my favorite characters mental state in that battle was definitely the worst episode in my opinion.
That’s getting another video. I have that as a close second
Beyblade seriously was THAT serious. That episode scared the hell of of me as a kid
Don’t forget after ALL this, mister underrated himself Dashian BEAT THIS DUDE IN THE FAIREST 1v1 Ever.
Exactly 💀
When I say Julia lost like and went on his knees calling himself weak was pretty sad cuz he was looking like a threat early in the series 😔
Honestly while I admit that the defeat Julian suffered from Damian was a special kind of sick and twisted I honestly wondered what happened to Damian after metal masters for YEARS since he was a menace
The moment where Gravity Destroyer reached out towards Julian when it was getting dragged into hades scarred me as a child especially with the hades gate music playing
This fight was one of my favorites cause these 2 beyblades looked very cool to me but i felt bad for Julian though
he could've just made his bey return to his hand and ask to forfeit the match
1:11 Bro really had to go to the ER from the fucking spinning tops
He did him worse than what Ryuga did to Jack and Nile bodying Masamune.
Masamune deserved to get humbled he talked all that mess for nothing
@@joscar062 I let it slide because at least he did it for his friend Toby which is why he calls himself number 1 and he wasn’t like Chi Yun against Tsubasa where chi yun tried to compare himself to Kyoya after tsubasa lost to him In the selection match knowing good and well he would get WASHED by Kyoya.

Masamune caught more strays then Yu in the second season, he's annoying and can't back anything up to save his life
Much rather you show it then tell it as Klaus explained
@@joscar062 Nah Yu got his bet destroyed TWICE while Masamune didn’t. They made it clear that Yu was the character to show how strong the opponents are. Masamune can actually back up stuff as he did beat Chao xin, came in clutch for Gingka during the 2v2 and Klaus gave him major props for being the first person to push him to his limit and Masamune caused him to pass out towards the end. And if you think MASAMUNE is annoying, then you must be forgetting about Enzo Garcia. And stop liking your own comment that is sorry asf.

I've seen many humiliating Beyblade losses before, but this one regarding Julian Konzern tops the cake!
If Julian wants Damian to stop, he could've just returned his bey to his hand to forfeit the match instead of continuing
Ahh i remember the good old days of watching every new episode as it aired. Idk what it was but a different language of this episode came out and mind you 9/10/11 year old me was on the wild fang part or so, so that shi felt like a creepypasta for me at the time, especially seeing Julian's face at the end
At least we had to see Kyoya mopping the floor with Damian
yeah bro the plot armour did damian dirty 💀 bro was winning against gingka, litterally tortured his ass but losed becouse gingka was "doing this for his friends and power of friendship"

that ost hit different. every time u heard it u knew it was gg
Say whatever you want about Julian being a snob, but he was genuinely skilled blader and one of the strongest new characters in the Metal Saga (along with Dashian and Damian), being one of the very few characters in the series to actually beat Gingka initially, and unlike Damian, he didn't use an arrangement to get powerful
I also think Julian has one of the best and most overlooked character arcs/developments in Masters and having his snobby worldview changed, started with his pride being wounded with Gingka, Damian completely shattering it, to being given a reality check and wake up call in his battle with Dashian, and in that loss, eventually being more resilient. He actually came out a better and humbled man. In a twisted way, he needed these losses
This has done be one of the most brutal beat downs in anime history along with all of Reji’s battles
Bro please make a video on Kyoya vs Damien
The 2 fights i really wanted was Ryuga vs Chris, or Damian
Technically, Ryuga battled Chris, while almost stealing the star fragment from Chris. It would have been epic to have seen Ryuga battle Daimian.
@@NoahShileyDamian would copy Julian’s face
@@NoahShiley Ryuga literally made Chris, Aguma, Johannes and Bao run away 30 seconds later after his arrival to the stadium. Damian would die by his ultimate move.
And kids nowadays calling X or quadstrike good. I mean is there even a comparison of that shit to this great OG MFB generations🔥
00:09 homie forgot shogun steel as average as it was gingka and modoka and tsubasa where in it so in my heart it counts
Nice One bro :D
Why did you stop here , His battle with Dashain Wang was wholesome
This was such a crazy episode
5:33 that's the face of a drug addict lmao😂
I still love that moment. It was seeing him all that scared and devastated. I wanted him to scream in agony but ok
And people also say that gingka and kyoya spun the bloc for julian by they both got they butts whooped by ryuga
I remember when I was watching this for the second time I didn’t want to hear Julian say that he was weak because I felt really bad, so I just skipped the scene where he says it 😞
This is way more humiliating than Masamune losing to Nile
Honestly I thought hyoma be reggie was just as humiliating if not more. Made Hyoma quit beyblade
That one was just as bad I have it second behind this one
That was some top tier jobbing from Konzern. Really set Gingka up as a hero in contrast to this.
Damien is my favorite character in the series I wish they continued him he had such swagger when he battled he had a idgaf mindset
Ryuga vs Damian i really wish we'd seen that. Obviously Ryuga wins but man its going to be one hell a of fight
personally when Julian lost to Damian it made my blood boil but at the same time it was kinda satisfying cuz Julian thought he was him until this, but at the same time it was super satisfying to see Damian's ass get kicked Ky🪀 and Gingka
irl that hades fusion wheel is nuts in attack combinations julian, ginka, and kyoya should have been lucky the thing wasn't an attack type
To be honesy you cannot blame him for joining damian's team bro is basically broke now
yea he had to get a job somewhere to survive in the world now
Can we talk about the old old beyblade tho its arguably better
Why does damian kinda look like frieza in his first form?
I feel if Tyson was beaten by Damian like that, he'd just run over there and start swinging.

I still quote Damian's lines to this day, this beyblade trend is hilarious
Is the trend still going on?
Still didn't answer the question.....
Julian challenges Ryuga and loses to Damian
Humilating losses include
Demolition boys vs all stars
Kai and his black dranzer vs white tigers
Kai vs tyson ray and Kenny in round 1 before max entered.
Max vs emily
Ozuma vs tyson
Tyson and Daichi vs Ray and lee
Garland vs Spencer and bryan then vs Tala
Kai vs Brooklyn round 1
Gingka vs Ryuga round 1
Reiji vs Hyoma
Ryuga vs Hikaru
Gingka yu and masamune vs julian sophie and wales
Am I the only one that thought gingka’s name was jinga
If I was Julian I would never Beyblade again.
Man I miss watching beyblade
i loved metal fusion, but masters was my favorite series of all time
fury i never ended up finishing to watch
im wondering if i should maybe to back and rewatch the entire metal series, maybe the english dub for the first time? i grew up with the german dub, i tried watching the first beyblade series in english but i couldnt stand the voice actors, they were so annoying
but might try again with the metal series, i saw that its availabe on yt so thats nice
He fr 3v1 them and 1 shot all of them 😭made them look like side characters
Reiji versus Hyoma and Kenta be like...
This is like Kai versus Brooklyn, only here, Kai doesn't get to win later
Don’t forget to do a video on reji cobra vs ares
Nah bro fr Damien wasted no time not only humiliating this man but packing him and his team up too 😭😭
Gingka and Kyoya gave Damien a nice comopense
Damian was such a well written character because he makes me hate him so much
bro the author did damian dirty. Bro one shotted, julian and cetus team while they were doing their special moves. Bro was so strong until gingka. Forget sukuna, forget tanjiro gingka has the thiccest plot armour in whole anime. Damian was winning with ease against gingka, bro was litterally toying with him. Suddenly gingka brought out the "i do this for my friend" bullshi and WON?? DAMIAN WAS TOYING WITH HIM A FEW MINUTES AGO AND HE WON??????
His defeat was so satisfying.
Julian was so cocky.
I was genuinely laughing when he admitted he was weak.
yea but at the same time it kinda made my blood boil but i was also happy cuz Julian thought he was him
he has no beyblading spirit
ik but damian completey humiliated him
Selene and Enzo from the garcias were the cockiest in the show. I wanted someone to shatter them so bad, especially Selene.
