Wonderful Band saw them in Liverpool University October 1980, £1 entrance fee unbelievable! Fabulous gig, had a chat with them after in the bar, lovely down to earth guys
Bill Hurley on vocals. He set up the remaining band as The Mental Health Act and he was playing in pubs around North London certainly up until about 10 years ago. The last time I saw him was about 7 years ago in a high street in Islington and we quickly chatted because I used to know him through several friends.
We used to see Bill playing around venues in Essex a few years ago with his then band The Enforcers. Always a great night & he still had a fantastic voice & vocal range, but I think Bill was still troubled. He always laughed about being invited to perform a concert in Paris celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of the Beatle's "Sgt. Pepper" album.
Aaah my pals The Inmates. Bill Hurley, what a voice, Gunn on Lead, who we all call The Gunslinger. Tony on rhythm, Ben on bass and lastly the original drummer of The Inmates Jim Russell. Used to see this band all over the shop, France was one there favourite places especially Paris. Great band, great people. Have a listen to one of there singles "Heartbeat" totally blown away with this song, got to listen to the Live version about 8-10 mins long. About time they got out there again.
Bill you are the bollox mate, if you see this three old bands are getting it together for a gig next week on canvey island sunday 14th aug 6pm @ the labour club its Ed Stacey from Slash wildly & the cutthroats, John Sorrell from Lew Lewis Reformer, Andy Stevens & Micky Ogdon from Alison Moyet's old band the Abdabs, you are all welcome
I don't get this - about 2.13 the solo comes back in and the thing is repeated. It's not like this on the record - they do the same actions so the film has been tampered with - strange.
Brilliant band and song

very good cover ! Check out the original by Jimmy McCracklin
Anyone know how the lads are?
Where is Bill Hurley ??????? I miss him badly !!!
should have been huge the new stones at least
pub rock ?
You’d think he would at least make some attempt at miming and best leave Mick Jagger to do himself.
Bill Hurley is himself and not doing the Feminine Jagger style !
