Echoing the others who came here through Jon Gadget. I think you have an EDC sensibility pretty close to mine and I'm really looking forward to seeing some more videos!
Everything was good. I like the extra pliers wildcard. I might have too pick them up. The only thing is I would go with a different flashlight. I don’t like carrying an extra “big” charger to charge it on the go.
I got my dad an Ekster wallet, and he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it. I chose the Ridge wallet, but I get jealous every time I see him pull out a card! Great choice!
I enjoyed your take on EDC and you earned my vote! Starting out with the Para 3 in maxamet was cool. I'm always trying to improve my EDC and appreciated all the videos the EDC collab group made. My current EDC: Smartphone, smartwatch, zebra light sc600 mk IV, modded leatherman wave plus, key smart organizer, and an Allett original nylon wallet.
Nice man I like the sound of your current kit! Glad you like my vid and appreciate you voting Nolan. How did you mod your Wave+? I've kept mine stock but curious as to how you improved it.
@@RonKwok I wouldn't call it a kit, more like a pocket dump, haha. Things I did to my silver wave plus: Replaced both blades with S30v straight blades (one for daily use and the other for my sharp blade), replaced the scissors with a 1/8" standard screwdriver from a leatherman blast, replaced the hard wire cutters with ones for a leatherman EOD ( cuts copper wires much cleaner, but not as tough as originals -youtube vids give more detail), added tweezers from a leatherman style -youtube vids give more detail, honed the cams of the interior tools, got a silver and black theme going on by swapping handles screws and lever locks, acid stonewashed my daily use blade and bottle opener, extended the nail nick on the bottle opener to ease deployment, highlighted the ruler marks and numbers with red fingernail polish on the silver handle and silver polish on the black handle
I was ready to automatically throw you my vote, because you're usually my style with sleek, purposeful options. However, maxlvledc pulled me away with his no knife multi-tool, 90 degree flashlight, and Zippo combo. Still love your carry combo with the $50 savings!
Dang I appreciate the honesty and the fact that you like my style! I'm glad you're going with the kit that you truly believe brings the most utility and style for your needs. Get after it bro!
I’m the reverse. I almost voted for Maxlvledc because I like the Zippo and that 90 degree flashlight too. It’s really bright and the angle along with the fact that it’s magnetic looks really handy. I’m probably going to get that combo. I did vote for Ron Kwock though for reasons I gave in my own comment.
Great to see your carry buddy, i enjoyed your video… the knipex… why didn’t I think of that, they were sat on the desk next to me whilst i was filming as well, hahaha. Oh well. It has been great to be a part of this challenger and i cant wait for the next one. Also, i see you have one salty comment as well from the same person i got bone from too hahahaha
I like most of your selections but differ on a couple of items. I carry a Leatherman crunch because you can't match the gripping and holding power that this tool offers in such a small package. The wallet is another one that personally is not my thing. I dont need to access my cards in record time and the stiff form factor relagates to front pocket carry only. A simply minimalist leather bi-fold is all I need, it slips in the back pocket and you forget its there. The only other item I find useful is the full size Knipex Cobra plier, if the Crunch is too small the full size Knipex will handle the rest, but that stays in my bag.
Yea I can't place where I got the term, but I like it better than lanyard lol. I'm thinking like 'car fob' or 'key fob' but for your knife, bc it's similar size (stubby vs long and wearable like an actual lanyard)
Hello there! What a fantastic rally! I watched all 6 videos and I am surprised to see I have only two same items in my EDC pack with Jon Gadget (vix. compact and skeletool CX), but no similarities between the remaining gear Gurus. It’s also partly because some items you have are not available in my country or are way too expensive because of the tax regime. I myself carry a Victorinox Compact, a Leatherman Skeletool CX (a bir switched with a carbide glass breaker), a Leatherman No4 prying tool as a key organizer (simply clinging sounds don’t bother me), a Nebo Torchy, a very simple leather card holder and my Suunto 9 Titanium Baro. Sadly I am not experienced as yourselves to share my items but am very fond of your collab. Hope to see new ones!
That sounds like a great kit. The beauty of these things is that 'experience' doesn't mean, it's all about what works for you and your preferences, and all loadouts work towards the same goal of streamlining your carry and your purpose. Glad you enjoyed the vids 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Cool, he favors the Para 3. So do I. Whoa! I carry a Baton 3 too! Ok. This is getting weird. I use the Field Notes journals too 🤔 WTF! I carry 5” Kinipex Cobra’s 😳 Glad you have a Wave because I have a Free P4 🤣 Nice choices.
Nope! The interior is lined with a felt-like material, lots of friction in there. If you shake it really hard then maybe, but normal use, even if you pull the wallet out upside down, I haven't had a problem yet. Hope that helps!
I went with the 5" for the plastidipped handles and I figured the extra length will give me a bit more ease of use while still being a small form factor. Hope that helps!
Thanks Jim! Honestly that PM3 just came together, I knew I wanted a grey look but the gods ensured everything was the same SHADE of grey for the clip and paracord lol. Thanks for watching!
This collaboration was a great idea. I found great suggestions on all the videos and subscribed to all of the channels. I’ll probably buy at least one thing from each of the lists. I voted for you because your list contains the most items I plan to have on my EDC and you added one thing I hadn’t thought of. That was the Knipex Cobra 5” pliers. (I’m just not sure where on my person I’ll carry them but I’ll figure it out, maybe in a pouch on my belt or maybe I’ll start carrying a bag in my car or something.) I had been debating with myself about whether to get the Leatherman Wave or another multi tool. I’m still going to check out some Gerber (which no one suggested 🤔) and some SOG multi tools but I’m learning heavily towards the Wave. The item I was most happy to see was the Fisher Space Pen. I’m definitely going to get one. I had one before and I loved it but I lost it. I didn’t know they were still available. I might end up getting the Spyderco knife you suggested. I have a CRKT M16-10KS. It was very inexpensive and it’s ok but I don’t love it. I also have a Benchmade 15031-2 North Fork folder (which no one suggested) and I love it. It’s a thing of beauty but I’m a little worried about carrying it everywhere because it’s very expensive and I don’t want to lose it or mess up the nice wood grip. (I know, what good is a knife you don’t carry?) That Spyderco is in between and it’s nice. I was actually thinking about one of those when I bought my Benchmade. Anyway, this is getting long, all your suggestions were great and I’ll be surprised if anyone reads this whole thing. 👍
Well I definitely read the whole thing and it's very insightful. Love your thought process! I understand the desire to keep your knife babies clean and pristine, you're not the only one. Glad you liked the gear breakdown and that you'll be picking up a few pieces to round out your kit! Cheers and Live with Purpose 🙌🏼🙌🏼
More difficult to vote than I thought. Videos are all great and surprisingly different there was no duplicates except for one item in just a couple of videos. Although I'm a Jon Gadget subscriber, you got my vote since your video enticed me to try an Orbitkey key organizer.
Amazing! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos and found something useful (you're gonna love the Orbitkey!) This collaboration was really fun because we released it all at the same time, and it was interesting to see the results-I'm surprised there wasn't much of an overlap either. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the videos to come!
Hi. Just started watching your video and wondering where I can purchase the Para 3 and the Leatherman wave + for those prices? Please let me know! Thank you have a good day
Great question and thanks for asking! Those prices are market value prices the day I published the video. You can expect the prices to fluctuate a bit but for the most part that's what you can expect to pay. Google is your friend, but the Para 3 can be found on Blade HQ, Knife Center, or Urban EDC Supply, while the Leatherman I snagged on the official Leatherman website. Happy hunting!
@@RonKwok Hi. Ok. Thank you! I had a para 2 but think it was a fake and have wanted a 3 for a long time now! I have a bunch of Leathermans and love them all-for the most part. 2-Surges- wave-rebar& several skeletools ! Thank you. Have a good day
I've had my original black leather Orbitkey for 4+ years and it's still fine, nice patina on the leather. With consistent use, you can expect anything to fall apart over time, and it depends on how often you use it and what you put it through, too. If what you experienced was a defect, I've found reaching out to customer support to be super helpful, although I've never personally run into any defect issues. Hope that helps!
"...until something cool comes along..." So, your EDC isn't cool? I had some similar things in my kit, but eventually upgraded. In all these videos I have seen thus far, the knives are...useless. They seem to be themed by the guy who told me, "It's a knife. It cuts. What difference does it make?" I have the Baton 3. Same theme. For most of these items, I was unable to find a usage case that justified carrying them. I have that functionality, but my kit seems far more versatile.
Great carry. Look into the Knipex pliers wrench, same size but a lot more useful for nuts and bolts as it won't strip and round them. If that's the main use for the pliers they are far superior. I have both and alternate between them.
@@RonKwok I have a bunch. @edcadam Craft and Lore Port, Open Sea Houbei 2.0 and The Ridge. I just found your station through the competition and subscribed.
@@RonKwok don't get me wrong but challenger should choose the best gear for $600 for 5 or 6 items but for cheaper gear with good quality I think $600 is more than enough. noticed the guy got $130 knife and $30 FL, there 's no sense at all for the challenge. but nice set up you got there, I got a cobra too.
@@RonKwok love your videos! I caught you during pandemic and was hooked. Bro chat.. try benchmade bug out.. it’s so light! Even the full size. Enjoy my para 3 but a recent convert 🥸
We settled on 600 because we were building a full and entire kit all in one go. For something like this I’d usually build it over time and save up for the individual pieces of gear. I’ve found that for some pieces, cheaper isn’t better, and k wanted to make sure we didn’t skimp out on the pieces that needed to be quality 👌🏼 different kits at lower price points seems like a good challenge tho!
