I also thought the V was vintage, and I own one. ; ) The V neck was indicative of that old series Martin HD-28 of the 40's, though with a newly adapted V neck, so I guess the "V" stands up on both counts. Also, I wouldn't call it a "larger body acoustic guitar". It's a dreadnought, which Martin invented way back. Sure, at that time a dreadnought was a larger than standard guitar, but hardly by today's standards. For all practical purposes, a dreadnought is the standard. Wonderful and beautifully toned guitar! I truly love mine. Thanks Chad!
Excellent demo, thanks! May I ask what the tune is being played from around 2:50 - 3:30? Or was that just improvisation? It is quite a gorgeous theme! Thanks again.
I see a lot of reviews where they explain the neck profile but never show it... would been nice if we could have seen the back of the neck... just sayin. .. great playing btw...what was the song at 2:54 ?
I noticed in most reviews they do not speak of the fretboard material? What's the user review / word on the rich lite? It's not real wood obviously but it's a main product in the Performance series but not in Martin models over $3100. This model demonstrated is ebony.fretboard. I want to get a hi end performance guitar but I am Leary on the richlite. Input Anyone please ?
I have two guitars with ebony fingerboards, a 2011 Gibson Custom and this HD28v, the boards look and feel different, the Gibson is darker and smoother in appearance, on the Martin you see more 'imperfections', it is more natural looking y'know. Anyways, from what I heard from a few knowledgeable people, there is no noticeable difference, if there is any, no one would actually hear. The point is that a more expensive guitar should not have a lower cost material, and all Customs from 2012 on have richlite, which in IMHO is absurd, considering how expensive this guitar is. So kudos to Martin for making it logical, if you are buying a more expensive guitar, you should get better wood, finish etc.
The "V" does not "refer to the shape of the neck" ..it designates the guitar as one with Vintage attributes... Ann BTW, you are a great finger player! And...... you do look like you could be an Elvi...or Elvis's cousin. Nice picking...
I must say, you're selling me on this one. Love this guitar.
