    Back again and honored to see this twice, David. Very thorough review of this beautiful beast. You and Noah put together some fine picking and strumming. What a great guitar, brother man 👍🏻
    Thanks again for the shout out 👍🏻

      Lol.. Thank you Sir. Yes, I had to remove House Of The Rising Sun. No issues this time with the upload. And Randy, I can't tell you just how happy I am with this guitar. I absolutely love it. And yes, there is a difference in my Recording King and my Martin. And you are very welcome. Finding your channel was one of my best finds. I was able to make a new friend.

    Wonderful review! Well done on 1) getting your hands on a HD28v and 2) doing the guitar justice with this in-depth review. I’m sorry to hear about your hands. Must be frustrating, especially now that you have your bucket list guitar 😕 regardless it’s beautiful!!

      Thank you. And after my second stroke I lost my entire right side. Believe me, I was very depressed at first. But figured it could have been way worse. I've been through, probably 5 sets of strings now. Trying to find the best tone I can. I've actually went back to my stand-by brand Elixir. Just like the sound better. I'll be comparing this guitar to my Recording King next video.

      Look forward to it!! Elixirs are great. I’ve tried a bunch of coated strings and they remain my favourite. I’m going to try Martin retro’s on a couple of my guitars soon. I’ve heard them on a Gibson j45 and a Mossman and they sounded great.

      Thank you. And I too love the aged tone it has. This guitar is almost 20 years old now but still looks close to like new. Going to put my Recording King up against it next. I can definitely hear a difference but over $2500.00 better? We will see.

    Wow that Martin sounds beautiful!! I have the Recording king RD 328 and a Martin D18 and a Martin D15 now I want a Martin like this ,it's just simply beautiful! Congratulations!!

      Thank you and yes, I absolutely love it. Sounds to me that you are like me, in that you love guitars and can never have enough of them... I'll be selling my Recording King RD-328, and my Alvarez MD60BG, as soon as I finish the videos comparing them to my Martin. I've got to recoup some of the cost I put out for my Martin.

      Awesome. Yes, I didn't want to put it down...lol... I'm going to compare it to my Recording King RD-328 next. And even though my pic will always be my Martin, that Recording King definitely has a great sound for what it cost.
      I'll have to try and get that video out soon.

    I highly recommend you install bone/wooden bridge pins!
    I see these don't fit optimally, that's some tone loss.

      @HayesTech  2 місяці тому

      @@LegsON
      We've sense installed bone pins on this guitar. We always get rid of the plastic pins on all of our guitars within the first couple months. But you are exactly right and it does make a difference in the sound.

  • @LegsON
    @LegsON 2 місяці тому +1

    I dislike ebony bridges for being heavier than rosewood, but their jet black beauty screams DELUXE.

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  2 місяці тому

      @@LegsON
      And again, you are correct in that. Ebony is a much denser wood than rosewood. And on some guitars, like mahogany and maple, my choice would definitely be rosewood. But for my ears, I like the sound of ebony on a guitar with East Indian rosewood. Now this had Brazilian rosewood back and sides, I think a Brazilian rosewood bridge would complement the guitar sound immensely. Again these are all very personal selections and each person will like sometime different. 😁

    Did Martin ever resolve their binding issues?

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  5 місяців тому

      I don't know... I do know what you are referring to though. I've not seen any guitars with that issue though, personally. But yes I've seen them on UA-cam several times and am very aware of it.
      That's why I like wood binding and wished that Martin and Gibson would use wood binding. It's not that much more expensive over plastic. I was actually trying to decide between getting this Martin or getting a Larrivee. The Larrivee has maple binding. I ended up getting the Martin, because it's my dream guitar, but again, if Larrivee can make and sell them for a little cheaper than Martin, Martin should be able to use wood binding. Just thinking out loud.

    Tried this guitar among many other Martins in 2017. This was the best of the bunch. Shame about the quality though. It's more worth it to spend the same amount of money on a Taylor, in my opinion. For low budgets, either is fine.

    • @HayesTech
      @HayesTech  2 місяці тому

      @@aditopguy9785
      Not sure what you mean about the quality. Mine is impeccable as far as the quality goes. Each person has their own personal preferences though, so I can understand liking the sound of a Taylor over the Martin. I'm not a big fan of the sound of Taylor guitars though. Again, that's just my personal preference.

    • @aditopguy9785
      @aditopguy9785 2 місяці тому +1

      @@HayesTech What I mean is, the material used to make a Taylor is of higher quality. Take a £3,500 Martin and a Taylor, for example. The specification on the Martin would state 'select hardwood' for the neck, which is basically any wood that's in abundance. Whereas, the Taylor would use a specific wood (the 814ce uses tropical mahogany for example). Furthermore, the headstock on the Martin would be matte with literally the logo just printed on it. The Taylor is of higher quality in the sense that it has an inlay headstock and is glossed. Another example is the herringbone around the Martin compared to the abalone pearls that Taylor uses for a guitar of the same price. I can provide another example, the Martin would have a tortoise pick guard while the Taylor would have a rosewood pick guard. That's why I say it's a shame about the quality - I would expect more from Martin especially for that kind of price. You would have to pay upwards of £6,000 for a Martin of the same quality. More bang for the buck, I guess you could say. Mind you, I have both a Martin and a Taylor. Both sound wonderful but in terms of craftsmanship and material Taylor definitely beats Martin, hands down.

      @@aditopguy9785
      I completely agree about Martin using plastic for trim and not real wood. The neck on mine is actually mahogany but they do list "select hardwood" for almost every guitar they make today. That's a shame. But again, I actually like the sound of the Martin over Taylor guitars. Just a personal preference.

      I just checked and at about 7 seconds in, I posted the time stamp to go directly to the guitar sounds samples (sound samples were at time stamp 14:05). I thought I did..lol.. Sometimes I actually forget even right after uploading. That's what my second stroke did to me.
      As far as adding other time stamps, I'm not into that. I do appreciate everybody that watches my video, immensely.. But I make long videos and that's what my subs have grown to expect and like.
      I put out a video about a week before this one with just sound samples and no review.
      Now if anyone would want to make a time stamp list, put it in the comments and I'll pin the post. But I am just not that into going that route.
      I do appreciate everyone who watches and comments. So when I say thank you, I really do mean that. I am working on my comparison video of my Recording King RD-328 (@ $800.00) compared to this Martin (@ $4000.00 new). Figured I'd give you a heads up on that video too. Thanks again.

      The only Texan I have left now is my 1965 Texan FT79n. I gave my new one, made in Indonesia, to my son. Ill have to do a Martin against an old school Epiphone comparison some day too. Or even compare the Martin against our Gibson J-45 Studio. Anyways, always good to talk to viewers. I'm no expert and learn a lot from you all. Take care and I'll see you in my next video.
