If Daima is a 20 episode arc...I just REALLY hope that at LEAST the final 5 episodes has everyone returned to their proper age so we can get an epic finale with the adult versions of the characters.

Not all of us hate filler, it just depends on the execution. OG DragonBall had amazing filler, because it was entertaining while giving characters growth at the same time. Some of it related to the main story, but they weren't dependent on either/or, so it was free for wacky jokes or having holes in the plot
Still filler may only last a couple episodes. There's not enough meat on the bone yet for Super. I think it's smart to wait because people would hate to have granola and moro rehashed so quickly. Maybe 2 years from now super should be ready.
My thoughts exactly. Like flesh out how Vegeta got God, his testing with berus. I mean there's a lot they can do. Maybe occasionally throw in slice of life stuff.
They’re stupid for this like they want the manga to catch up so they can have more story to adapt yet they came up with a whole new story out of nowhere for daima ? Like why not just adapt the anime and come up with new material after if you’re gonna do that anyway for daima
Naruto a lot of fillers not but not like Boruto TV show way too many fillers than super super i lost interest boruto super trash, no it was perfect Go watch Boruto that had a lot of filler I got bored with it
My thought process with Shueisha is that if they wanted the manga to go further along with more stories before bringing it back in anime form, then why are they seemingly wasting time with retelling DBS: Super Hero? Doesn't seem like they are in any rush to have any anime adaptation anytime soon...
I think it's mostly because Gohan and Piccolo got new forms, they don't wanna leave anything "off screen" so to speak. But honestly, I wouldn't mind if instead of making an anime series they just do each arc as a two hour movie. Might be a little compressed or something cut here and there but it seems doable.
Because they think people will go buy the chapters to see the differences between it and the anime or just for collecting purposes, and also because new fans will go back and buy chapters to catch up to the story. Unfortunately, Japanese fans do stuff like that. So Shueisha can stuff their wallets with more money by exploiting the manga system. The people in charge don't give a damn about the series like fans do, so if they turn 60 as the series drags along, what do they care?
@Halo3ninja28 What do you mean they don't care about it like fans do? For all we know, the Japanese fanbase has no problem with this. They react far differently than the Western audience.
I loved a lot of the slice of life stuff OG Super had between arcs. If Super came back right now it would be smart to have to a lot more of that content, and to expand upon the adapted material so it won't drag the material its adapting to a unbearable pace.
Dragon Ball Super's TV ratings are not good enough for them to get away with that. Obvious filler takes down TV views, but absurdly popular anime can get away with that. Dragon Ball Super's TV ratings are not that good outside the occasional "new transformation" episodes. Basically, Toei/Shuiesha is running a business. Niche isnt business
exactly its giving context to scenes, or increasing the impact of the invasions that happen in one arc and the impact of buu now being able to tap into the grand supreme kais form id love to know if he can continue to do that even after the arc has ended thats something thats super cool and needs to be explored
Currently watching the replay on Revisting DB series on streams on twitch. And I only noticed this thru my second watch but General Blue is one resilient motherf'er, he swims up ocean, flies a plane, hijacks a car, what a character as side from the controversial traits obviously lol
What's gonna be dumb is. DBS and DBS Manga were not exactly the same, they had similar events but there are significant parts of each story/arc where things played out differently. Just look at the ToP. So if we have to wait for the manga to have enough content so we can then go off it to turn into an anime then are we just gonna ignore the anime we watched for 3 or 4 years and pretend we had been "watching" the manga story all along?
The years keep going by and we still aren’t getting the Moro and Granola arcs animated, nor are we going past the end of Z; which is what I think we all really want!😢

Dragonball has been around long enough to make us actually invested in the non main characters which is why I’ve always LOVED the slice of life and filler episodes… the features with arale? The baseball games? That shit was AMAZING in terms of entertainment and uniqueness
The baseball episode has got to be one of my favorite. I’ve watched DB since I was a kid and it felt like I was out with them for fun day. I personally enjoyed the filler so I’m right there with you.
Honestly what a great and informative video. This is one of the reasons why I always trusted you as being my only Dragonball UA-camr that I watch and follow for Dragonball news. You only state facts and make it very clear when something is just an opinion or prediction. This video helped clear some of the uncertainty and confusion I’ve had for a while now about why Super hasn’t came back. At the end of the day from a business standpoint, it makes sense and we all just need to understand that’s how it works. I’m glad we will at least have new content with the manga and this new show. So hopefully it will be enough for the DB community to keep us engaged until Super does come back one day. Even if it doesn’t I will be satisfied with what we got.
I wouldn't say he has always "stated the facts and made sure what was just opinion and speculation". There was a long period where he made increasingly speculative videos about Super's return. I'm not talking about when he said Super was being produced in 2019, I believe he has genuine and either was being misinformed or plans changed. He has had tons of videos citing various rumors, social media posts, interviews etc as proof that Super's return was imminent, only for it to turn out that the source wasn't talking about Super, or it was a mistranslation, or the source was just speculating themselves THIS video is informative and I have nothing bad to say about it, and in general he has taken a more levelheaded tone and stopped the wild speculations, but that wasn't always the case
They really need to change the scheduling of the manga chapters because with this current monthly release schedule, it’ll be another 2-3 years before they have enough content to adapt. They should at least go to a bi-weekly schedule if they don’t want to go back to the weekly releases
@@joeybrown567 exactly the fact that they retold the whole SH movie is stupid af because with BoG and Broly, they only did quick summaries so ion see why they all the sudden they wanted to cover the whole movie
@@lucidmind9676 I think we only have one more chapter left until its over so hopefully they give us a cliff hanger for a new arc. They really have a lot of potential for the future of DBS.
I agree with the concerns about the voice actors and actresses ages. Many of them have been around since the mid to late 80s as adults and they won't be able to do this and/or be around forever. Bulma's Japanese voice actress is a good example of this.
I agree, 100%. They should at least consider having understudies for each of the Japanese voice actors that have been doing this for a while. At least in America if you’re a voice actor, they have an understudy, sometimes even more than one ready and available to voice match, when and if necessary. Look at the various voice actors who have portrayed various Looney Tunes characters over the years just as one example.
8:17 Yes, fans ignored the fact that manga only has 2 new arcs completed and not enough to make a series that in a similar size as DBS. 9:26 Interesting, I always kinda thought that Toei just didn't want to do it. I think they learned their mistakes at fillers during DB and DBZ runs that drag-out and further declined the series, so they didn't want to make 1 or 2 long filler arcs with inferior quality.
@@j04370859 I did think so too, but when I think about why the movies were remake, the Broly movie would be the least necessary to remake, as that movie was written with TOP all planned out. BOG was written before DBS was even considered, so a lot of ideas there are outdated. ROF is kinda a special case, as DBS was in production mid-way the movie production, so a lot of DBS ideas should already be considered by then. It's possible they couldn't cut Golden Frieza arc as without it, his reappearance in TOP arc would be out of nowhere. Then again, nothing should stop them from reusing the film footage for DBS and then edited it for expansion scenes, so I'm not too sure. Super Hero was written before Moro arc even finished, so there's an obvious need to remake some of the dialogues there.
They once again written themselves into a corner by bringing back Frieza for the 10th damn time so they pivoted to a brand new series so they can ignore DBS for a couple more years
@@levinacker5860 The guy above you is some bootlicker of this franchise. I give you like because finally some body is not a sheep like majority of dragonball fans. 👍🏻

Summary for those not wanting to sit through 20 minutes: Here's a concise summary of the key points about why Dragon Ball Super (DBS) isn't continuing and why Dragon Ball Daima is being made instead: Main Reason - Shueisha's Decision: Shueisha (the publisher) has primary control over Dragon Ball's direction They want the Dragon Ball Super manga to get ahead of the anime They believe there isn't enough manga content yet to justify a new anime series Broadcasting Constraints: Fuji Television (the broadcaster) requires minimum 1-2 year commitments for shows Current manga content would only provide about 50 episodes, less than a full year They want to avoid using too much filler content Dragon Ball Daima: It's a 40th anniversary project for Dragon Ball Originally called "Dragon Ball Magic" Akira Toriyama is heavily involved and excited about it Will be a streaming series rather than traditional TV broadcast Has top animators and production staff involved Currently the main focus of the Japanese studio Behind-the-Scenes Context: There's been a power struggle between Akio Iyoku (Dragon Ball Room head) and Shueisha Iyoku wanted DBS to return in 2019, but Shueisha prevented it Iyoku created Capsule Corp Tokyo to handle Dragon Ball properties Currently no plans to work on adapting Dragon Ball Super's Moro arc The key takeaway is that Dragon Ball Daima is the current priority, and Dragon Ball Super's anime return will have to wait until there's more manga content and Shueisha decides to move forward with it.
I don't disagree with daima strategy, that is: Create a second series to act as filler while we wait. . . HOWEVER, what I would PREFER if they are making a filler series that's intended to not be canon. . . Just retell Dragon Ball HEROES. Theres alot of good stuff in that series that deserve better animation, composition, what have you, and what's worse of all, it never even got an english dub. This would have been the PERFECT opportunity for us to get that. You already had the ground work, daima just didn't need to exist comparatively. Working on dragon ball heroes as a "lets do whatever, who cares, it's not canon anyways" series is just generally good practice for the Super adaptation as well since it can reuse assets. Like model sheets, music ques, sound effects library, the works. It just seems. . . kinda silly to create another filler series out of thin air when they already have one to work off of and continue.
If Shueshia wanted more time, couldn't they have said to Toei to first adapt the Broly movie into the anime like they did with BoG and Resurrection F? Maybe adding all those things they didn't manage to include in the movie itself. They could even have a Jaco arc where you have Jaco retelling the adventures from his own manga to pad time. Also, they should honestly move the manga from being monthly to be twice a month in my opinion.
At This rate, we’re looking at 2030. With how long it’s taken Toyotaro to wrap up the Super Hero arc in the Manga, it’ll take a few more years before Shueisha feels they have enough content to animate a new series. So maybe by 2026, we’ll have sufficient content. Then the Animation process begins, then the editing process, voice acting, music, etc. I’m not expecting a new series until at least 2030 if geekdom’s words are accurate.
GT is significantly better than Super no doubt, fortunately, I highly doubt modern wokenime daima will be able to pull a genuine to the roots quality like Gt did.
My theory is they want to wrap up some side character or characters stories while letting the manga develop further so when it comes time to adapt more of super theres a lot of content. Because theres a few characters who didnt appear in Super thats in this show that they might explain the absence of.
I hope when super season 2 does come they do the Broly movie and this time adapt the 3 hour movie script Toriyama had wrote. His movie script included stuff like Gogeta and Broly fighting on the sun. They had to cut all that out though since it was too long.
Call me crazy, but I think Daima, similar to DBZ Kai, is a way to get the younger generation involved. I found dbz when Kai aired, I was in elementary school at the time. It got me into the show hard and really tugged at my roots early. Now I'm out of college, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are making Daima for the same reason, to get kids that are now elementary students into Dragon Ball. Looking at it this way, it makes perfect sense that Goku and Vegeta have become kids. Relatability. It's a way to get the next generation involved, just like they did my generation with Kai. They're playing the long game. As Beerus said in Resurrection F, "tactically, it was a genius move.".
What I don't understand is if they wanted enough content in the manga for the anime to adapt then why did they allow the manga to waste time adapting the super hero movie. Wasted a years worth of time for no basically no manga progress.
I was just happy to experience DBZ as it was actually being broadcast in Japan. Masako Nozawa is 87 years old Akira Toriyama is 68. The likeliness of much more DB happening in general is coming to a end. The manga can continue, but not sure how the animation would work if The main voice actor and the author pass away.
Very cool info! Appreciate ya, D. I had my initial upset feelings about Daima, but now that some time has passed…my mindset is that Daima will be a fun and entertaining time and I can’t wait to watch it!
he D me and you are around the same age so you know how limited we were when we were growing up on connections within the anime community and the lack of an outlet for general fan opinion to be heard. i just wanted to say thanks man, your genuine love for dbz played a major part in reviving my own hope for dbz and dbs. i wish we had more people like you growing up. and i truly think we the fans could actually rally together and bring dbz back to it former glory, look what youtube has done for minecraft, i really think content creators like yourself could make a big impact on the future success of the series. its important to have people like you to keep hope kindled as gandalf would say.
This makes a lot of sense to me. Lets say they did Super, we get a year of the Anime- then it's gone again until who knows when. It would just leave the fans disappointed in the end. The fact that Toriyama is back has me somewhat excited for Daima. This could be the last time or one of the last time he does a DBZ project.
@@stormbringer7773but he is More involved in Diama then super maybe super in it's first run probably would have been better and had more lore and villains
Naw, it's still stupid to me. Lots of anime and tv shows release in a seasonal manner, a years'-long continuous streak of weekly episodes for a single series is an exception rather than the rule, at least for non-Japanese viewers. I get it that Japan has really rigid corporate culture but that doesn't prevent me from criticising their decisions
Daima exists because toei have convinced themselves that DragonBall is a kids show thats why super had little to no blood and why nobody really died outside of being erased.
Even tho there is no proof of what I’m saying, I think that dragonball is going to become a continuity where there like the marvel and dc comics. Where multiple continuities can exist in the series and they don’t tie in together unless they want it too like marvels 616, ultimate, 2099, etc. universe’s. But that’s just what I think there doing
People gotta learn what anniversary projects are. It's just shameful the amount of anime fans who don't get that Japan likes to do little things for their anniversaries. They like to put out little extra projects, do anniversary runs. It's so common it's almost embarrassing to see people freaking out like "is this the new direction for the series?" Like cmon guys we gotta learn more about the culture behind our fandoms. Super coming back is a big event, not an anniversary project, so when the 40th anniversary came up, their answer to that was never going to be more Super on this year and it was always going to be a small out of the way project for fun. We should thank our lucky stars Toriyama's doing it and not Toei doing their own little thing.
1. That Digimon show ended months ago 2. There's a little over 50 weeks in a year so if you count holidays, 50 episodes is more than enough for a full year of weekly television.
But Fuji TV wants _minimum_ 1 and a half to 2 years, so it still wouldn't be enough. At first I wasn't all that into Daima (still kinda not, if I'm honest), but the fact that they're putting effort into something just to keep the fans happy while they wait is actually amazing. And the quality of it looks insane, honestly, so I guess I'll give it a go given the choices, right?

There's enough room with that company I'm not even going to try this pronounce its name. Play in safe is really smart for them today because there's a lot of shows that do too many fillers and I've come to the point where I don't care for a show to do a filler I want every episode unless they can do it right to be a continuation of the story. I also don't think it's a good idea for that company to rush out new I call them comments not mongo new comments until they are satisfied with the story so them taking their time I think it's a good thing I understand things frustration but it's actually a good thing for them to take their time.
Digimon Adventure: Colon ended in September 2021, with the timeslot being replaced by Digimon Ghost Game. Then Ghost Game ended March 2023, Toei replacing it with the anime Run For Money: The Great Mission, which is still airing with no confirmed ending. It's a spinoff of a live action game show but also includes Bandai's Vital Bracelet smart watch, which started with Digimon but has recently branched out to many other Bandai franchises.
DragonBall Super was 131 episodes. First 2 arcs were recapping 2 movies. Universe 6 vs 6 exhibition, goku black and then T.O.P arc came out. So far, all we have is moro, granolah and superhero. I'm guessing we won't get DBS until 2025 when 2 more arcs release.
If somebody doesn't force Shueshia's hand, you're going to see the unfortunate end of a series, that had gain so much momentum, and had the perfect combination of okder fans and newer ones, with unlimited potential for the sake of making extra money. What a way to kill a series, and to disband a fan base.
It is slowing down the continuation of Super though, They could have been out the time and effort that was put into this trash into Super. There's been 2 movies and 2 whole arcs to adapt into the anime, so theres really no excuses.

I don't get that logic they can just do the 2 arcs then wait till the next one is done. One punch man season 1 was just around 10 episodes. Some filler is fine the baseball episode was hillarious. It's this silly period of needing 2 years worth of material.
Here's what I don't get though. The filler episode where Goku fought Vegeta s doppelganger. Goku THEN goes on in the Future Trunks arc and even mentioned Planet Pontifu so how exactly is it filler if it's STILL tied to a episode? Then, in the Dragon Ball Super movie where Vegeta was asked about the fusion dance and he stated "yes I have seen it done before" which finally Gogeta became canon in Super referring to watching Gotenks being on scene when Beerus was there and then again on Planet Pontifu so how is it that Planet Pontifu is a filler?
I’m calling bs on wanting the manga to be far ahead of the anime. Black Frieza was introduced in the summer of 2022 and we’re almost heading into 2024 with no advancement of that story. @@wwefanhhh2012 cap, it don't take over a year to plan out a story. They're just having some corporate dick measuring contest to spite the anime to make the manga more relevant. Shueisha is living in the past thinking the manga will be as relevant as it was in the 90s.
@@wwefanhhh2012 respectfully, it's stuff that should have already been planned out. Dragon Ball been off the air for over 5 years and have had a gap of over a year of no story progression. Because when they introduced Black Frieza in August of last year, they should have at least had some idea of where they wanted to take the story. So what have they been doing this entire time? I know Daima must of taken some of their attention but the whole point of the Dragon Ball room was to have other people have some creative input besides Toriyama. Theses guys have been slacking off due to incompetence and ego.
I can't stand people that don't like filler. The filler in dragon ball has always been top tier. Without filler we'd never see Goku and Piccolo learning to drive. Seriously, how can you hate filler?
@haruto_yuma_arts Nah, Bleach would've been a better example. Naruto actually has some good filler at the very least despite having a lot of filler in general. Some based off omakes, or canon novels within the series that expand the story or its characters. There's also the Mecha Naruto filler which I think was pretty good.
@@firionkaiser8291 BIG difference between watching a one-off episode of Goku and Piccolo learning how to drive and watching an entire 20+ episode mini-series where they learn how to drive and become Other World nascar racers for King Kai competing in the Kai Circuit for a chance to gain a kiaoken-like power up. @@firionkaiser8291 From an objectively statistical standpoint, Naruto’s filler was worse. The worst of any anime’s filler. Ratings and viewership consistently dropped to all time lows, which caused occasional hiccups in funding and animated production. Fans were often outraged, to a point that it became a common tactic to boycott the series altogether until the filler finally ended…which later led to the creation of filler lists/archives that both new and old fans use to this very day to navigate Naruto without wasting time on its filler. The biggest and most notorious feat of Naruto’s filler is its length. Fans would be in the middle of watching an intense and long awaited battle between two characters, the fight would start, then out of nowhere a filler episode hits, and then another one…and before fans knew it, there’s 70+ episodes of back to back filler that has gone on consistently for a year. Naruto is renowned as having the worst and most filler, with a common nickname alongside Talk-No-Jutsu being “Filler Hell”. So objectively speaking, Naruto’s filler is the worst of the worst.
After getting more info I actually agree with their decision and respect them more for giving us something to watch instead of starving us until the main story comes back
There are 52 weeks in a year. That means if Fuji TV and Shueisha believe they need a minimum 2 years worth of DB episodes they will need 104 episodes. For most anime, at minimum 2 manga chapters typically correspond to 1 anime episode. This means, counting from the start of the Moro arc, there needs to be minimum 208 manga chapters published before Toei start adapting the manga. That would be a wait of four years if the manga was released weekly but since it is monthly it is actually closer to 17.3 years. Since the Moro arc began in 2018 that means we ONLY have 12+ years left before DB Super returns guys. Presuming the manga never ever skips a month of course
@@bluuangel004Monthly manga have more pages, but the actual pacing of a monthly chapter is the same as a 17 page weekly chapter. Its painfully obvious in DBS and Boruto
@@bluuangel004When Goku met fought Granola in DBS, there was a 42 page chapter of Goku facing Granola in base form. With him going Super Saiyan Blue at the end of the chapter. The following month he faced Granola in Super Saiyan Blue form, only getting more serious and using Ultra Instinct the following chapter. Thats 3 months, and over 130 pages of Goku simply stalling. Worse yet, Vegeta faces Granolah and did the same thing. 42 pages of stalling in regular form until getting serious at the end of the chapter. Wait for the following month. Thats 5 months, 210+ pages of characters stalling before getting serious. Weekly Manga gives you the content of a 42 page monthly chapter in just 16 pages. A well paced anime episode covers 2-3 chapters. DBS as monthly manga just enables bad pacing.
The counter strategy would be. . . just stop making dragon ball movies. We learned from resurrection F and battle of gods that if we need more content to make a full season. . . then we should just make them episodes rather than waste the content that could have been used to add to the episode count to just blow your load all at once in a singular movie.
If they adapted the Moro arc it would at least be 50-70 episodes if they animated like 12-14 pages per chapter since the super manga is 45-55 pages per chapter
you would think but realistically when you read that whole arc it's probably more or less like 30 to 40 it only feels like that because of how they released it same with the granola arc like look at them in comparison to the other arcs they're smaller arcs so literally them adopting both of them really wouldn't matter they and we the audience would basically be right back where we are now with an even shorter run than what super initially had especially like he said if you have other studios that want to air other things in slots That they feel could've gone to something else that had more episodes we gotta remember these companies love money too
70 episodes? That's stretching it a bit. And that was the issue Z had. It was WAY too stretched. How long did the Goku and Frieza fight was in Japan? Like 6 months?
40-50 ep is a lot, and think is if you were the animator is there enough content even with the filler u add in. I can see it from both points. And yes there isn’t enough.
directors cut of dbs broly, Moro, Granolah, Saiyaman Trunks and Goten, dbs superhero. They have more than enough content imo. By the time all of that is animated the Black Frieza arc would probably be at least half way if not completed so they would have another arc on top of the 5 that they haven’t done yet
I dont like it from a fan perspective, but i understand it from a business perspective. A silver lining may be that when/if it does release, we would would get a nice long run of the show.
Now this makes a lot more sense, the lack of willingness to continue the anime had to have a reason that involves a bit of drama in the backstage because otherwise it doesn't make sense, thanks for clarifying, and I'm willing to bet we'll get tons of new content after Daima
I wouldn't mind filler episodes. People forget, old school dragon ball was filler. And filler is when we learn more about characters, not everything can be action. Training to learn more moves, or mastering abilities is good to watch sometimes.
@AmberLeafKing depends on the filler. ssj2 Goku v Kid Buu looks amazing. Its not in the manga. Goku v Majin Vegeta is extended. You can do great filler.
As someone that started getting into Dragonball from the manga back in '84. I kinda don't mind seeing the whole cast as kids again, on some new crazy adventures. But i just hope they do the character more justice than they did in GT.
Just end the series. Honestly, Dragon Ball Super just about killed any joy I had left in Dragon Ball as a franchise. They need to end the series proper and let Toriyama and Toyotaro explore other aspects of the Dragonball universe - new characters, new set ups, new everything.
After hearing the story I actually agree with waiting until we get enough Manga content so they can release the Anime with a lot of content instead of a slow build. I think we probably will get it after Black Frieza saga I hope.
Well, it makes sense. If they don't have enough content, the anime will get ahead of the manga. Remember, the manga is monthly, so they need at least 3 arcs.
Who the hell wants super back? The moment it arrived everyone and their mom complained. Now people complain about Daima, but watch them ask it to return once it ends. The peak was DBZ and sad to see there nothing continuing it's legacy just degrading a once great franchise.
Lol maybe YOU and your mom were complaining about dbs, but for me that's a tough debate on a favorite, cell/android sega or super sega. Not all of us hate filler, it just depends on the execution. OG DragonBall had amazing filler, because it was entertaining while giving characters growth at the same time. Some of it related to the main story, but they weren't dependent on either/or, so it was free for wacky jokes or having holes in the plot
Yeah, good filler is when it relates to the story and expands on it, even often improving the manga content. Slice of life stuff is also fun.
Exactly that’s why when ppl praise Kai being better than the original cuz I liked most the filler, gives other characters sumn to do
Speak for yourself. There are plenty of people who hate any filler.
They’re stupid for this like they want the manga to catch up so they can have more story to adapt yet they came up with a whole new story out of nowhere for daima ? Like why not just adapt the anime and come up with new material after if you’re gonna do that anyway for daima

Pay attention. Daima has nothing to do with us not getting Super
My thought process with Shueisha is that if they wanted the manga to go further along with more stories before bringing it back in anime form, then why are they seemingly wasting time with retelling DBS: Super Hero? Doesn't seem like they are in any rush to have any anime adaptation anytime soon...
Imo because they think there is no deadline. The longer they wait the longer fans get hyped up so they can always go to well.
Maybe they think SuperHero could be retold in an episodic format like battle of gods, who know?

Dragon Ball Super's TV ratings are not good enough for them to get away with that. Obvious filler takes down TV views, but absurdly popular anime can get away with that.

The baseball episode has got to be one of my favorite. I’ve watched DB since I was a kid and it felt like I was out with them for fun day. I personally enjoyed the filler so I’m right there with you.
The Baseball game filler was the best thing since Goku and Piccolo got driver's licenses.
He has had tons of videos citing various rumors, social media posts, interviews etc as proof that Super's return was imminent, only for it to turn out that the source wasn't talking about Super, or it was a mistranslation, or the source was just speculating themselves
THIS video is informative and I have nothing bad to say about it, and in general he has taken a more levelheaded tone and stopped the wild speculations, but that wasn't always the case
This video is definitely way more informative than any of his older videos I guess it took some time too get all the details lol
They really need to change the scheduling of the manga chapters because with this current monthly release schedule, it’ll be another 2-3 years before they have enough content to adapt. They should at least go to a bi-weekly schedule if they don’t want to go back to the weekly releases

I thought they would adapt Broly into the series, like BOG and ROF.

Summary for those not wanting to sit through 20 minutes:
Here's a concise summary of the key points about why Dragon Ball Super (DBS) isn't continuing and why Dragon Ball Daima is being made instead:
Main Reason - Shueisha's Decision:
Shueisha (the publisher) has primary control over Dragon Ball's direction
They want the Dragon Ball Super manga to get ahead of the anime
They believe there isn't enough manga content yet to justify a new anime series
Broadcasting Constraints:
Fuji Television (the broadcaster) requires minimum 1-2 year commitments for shows
Current manga content would only provide about 50 episodes, less than a full year
They want to avoid using too much filler content
Dragon Ball Daima:
It's a 40th anniversary project for Dragon Ball
Originally called "Dragon Ball Magic"
Akira Toriyama is heavily involved and excited about it
Will be a streaming series rather than traditional TV broadcast
Has top animators and production staff involved
Currently the main focus of the Japanese studio
Behind-the-Scenes Context:
There's been a power struggle between Akio Iyoku (Dragon Ball Room head) and Shueisha
Iyoku wanted DBS to return in 2019, but Shueisha prevented it
Iyoku created Capsule Corp Tokyo to handle Dragon Ball properties
Currently no plans to work on adapting Dragon Ball Super's Moro arc
The key takeaway is that Dragon Ball Daima is the current priority, and Dragon Ball Super's anime return will have to wait until there's more manga content and Shueisha decides to move forward with it.
I knew it, daima is just a money grab from studios heads, and not Akira

Every manga should take his time
Speeding it up would ruin it
At This rate, we’re looking at 2030.
Toriyama really said “Let me make GT but better.” Lol
He gets to the point on 9:26
What I don't understand is if they wanted enough content in the manga for the anime to adapt then why did they allow the manga to waste time adapting the super hero movie.

Super coming back is a big event, not an anniversary project, so when the 40th anniversary came up, their answer to that was never going to be more Super on this year and it was always going to be a small out of the way project for fun. We should thank our lucky stars Toriyama's doing it and not Toei doing their own little thing.
1. That Digimon show ended months ago
2. There's a little over 50 weeks in a year so if you count holidays, 50 episodes is more than enough for a full year of weekly television.

They took a break from the manga, then came back with a bad prequel to Super Hero, and are currently doing a bad manga adaptation of Super Hero. If they were so concerned about having enough content for the amine, they wouldn’t have wasted a year of the manga.
to take their time and write about new storylines and also a break.
They don't care. That's the thing.
They are in no hurry to bring it back.
@@wwefanhhh2012 cap, it don't take over a year to plan out a story. They're just having some corporate dick measuring contest to spite the anime to make the manga more relevant. Shueisha is living in the past thinking the manga will be as relevant as it was in the 90s.
@@DanielGuerra92 agree, i hope at least planning tu drop dbs2 anime after daima or at least a new movie
@@wwefanhhh2012 respectfully, it's stuff that should have already been planned out. Dragon Ball been off the air for over 5 years and have had a gap of over a year of no story progression. Just a break, a prequel, and a bad adaption of Super Hero. How much more time do they need? Because when they introduced Black Frieza in August of last year, they should have at least had some idea of where they wanted to take the story. So what have they been doing this entire time? I know Daima must of taken some of their attention but the whole point of the Dragon Ball room was to have other people have some creative input besides Toriyama. Theses guys have been slacking off due to incompetence and ego.
i cant find the gotenks video did it get taken down
I can't stand people that don't like filler. The filler in dragon ball has always been top tier. Without filler we'd never see Goku and Piccolo learning to drive. Seriously, how can you hate filler?
Driving was the best lol and agreed I'd rather have filler than 2 episodes of yelling like they taking a fat shit
Um fillers isn't always amazing, just take Naruto for example
One’s an episode that comes and goes. The other is an entire series that could’ve been easily replaced with what fans actually want.
Monthly manga typically have more pages in them than weekly manga. Hence, your calculation is off.
That's crazy.
Good adapted episode should at least be 2 and a half or 3 standard chapter which would be 50-60 pages.
you would think but realistically when you read that whole arc it's probably more or less like 30 to 40 it only feels like that because of how they released it same with the granola arc like look at them in comparison to the other arcs they're smaller arcs so literally them adopting both of them really wouldn't matter they and we the audience would basically be right back where we are now with an even shorter run than what super initially had especially like he said if you have other studios that want to air other things in slots That they feel could've gone to something else that had more episodes we gotta remember these companies love money too
70 episodes? That's stretching it a bit. And that was the issue Z had. It was WAY too stretched. How long did the Goku and Frieza fight was in Japan? Like 6 months?
40-50 ep is a lot, and think is if you were the animator is there enough content even with the filler u add in. I can see it from both points. And yes there isn’t enough.
They need to just need to bring it back it's been 5 years like this is the way
directors cut of dbs broly, Moro, Granolah, Saiyaman Trunks and Goten, dbs superhero. They have more than enough content imo. By the time all of that is animated the Black Frieza arc would probably be at least half way if not completed so they would have another arc on top of the 5 that they haven’t done yet
I feel a lot better about Diama after watching this video and I'm going to go into it with more of an open mind.
Its like a set of dominos. Toyotaro drags his feet so shuesha drags theirs causing fuji to drag theirs.
I dont like it from a fan perspective, but i understand it from a business perspective. A silver lining may be that when/if it does release, we would would get a nice long run of the show.
This is the video I was looking for. Appreciate all the hard work and making this video that answers a lot of questions
I want to see Black Frieza animated so badly 😭
Same! And I want to see him fight Beerus! I want to see what it looks like when Beerus goes ALL OUT!!!
Why? Having Frieza back for the 4th time with his “even stronger” form just so that Vegeta and Goku can fight him again?
@@doodguytheblank2403yeah man why not that's why I love db
Now this makes a lot more sense, the lack of willingness to continue the anime had to have a reason that involves a bit of drama in the backstage because otherwise it doesn't make sense, thanks for clarifying, and I'm willing to bet we'll get tons of new content after Daima
I wouldn't mind filler episodes. People forget, old school dragon ball was filler. And filler is when we learn more about characters, not everything can be action. Training to learn more moves, or mastering abilities is good to watch sometimes.
But once you have watched it you just skip it the next rewatch lmfao
@AmberLeafKing depends on the filler. ssj2 Goku v Kid Buu looks amazing. Its not in the manga. Goku v Majin Vegeta is extended. You can do great filler.
This desire for minimum 2 years worth of content helps explain why we got re-tellings of Battle of Gods a d Resurrection F
I love filler a lot of my favourite anime moments are from filler for example one of my favourite one piece arcs is a filler arc.
Makes sense! Good breakdown and insights.
I'm definitely not interested in Daima
Does dragon ball super has to stay with fuji television? Is that the knly broadcasting station in Japan?
After hearing the story I actually agree with waiting until we get enough Manga content so they can release the Anime with a lot of content instead of a slow build. I think we probably will get it after Black Frieza saga I hope.
then why did they spend a whole 12 months retelling super hero? Its not true
The movie retailing in the manga was such a big waste if time to. We could be that much closer to having enough material for an anime run
@@SpicyElephant they did it to let fans know were it took place in the timeline
When did toriyama die?
Truly shudder at the idea that Shueisha wants MORE of these manga arcs. Clearly someone is not paying attention to the quality of storytelling
Wdym
Well, it makes sense. If they don't have enough content, the anime will get ahead of the manga. Remember, the manga is monthly, so they need at least 3 arcs.
appreciate you man, was goin crazy about this
NOW U KNOW WHERE IS DB SUPER.. THANK YOU AKIRA
Like cmon buddy they gotta scale up both villans, and heros to so, gods were eventually gonna be added. We all cherish the og dbz namick sega but you gotta move on from the past. The man, the legend himself is gone. And dragon ball is changing.... personally I feel like daima might be the end of it, but that's my opinion. I don't even fully understand wtf daima is supposed to be about. To me it almost seems like a reset on the series with everyone as kids like wtf 🤷♂️🤯
What if I took every single merch/DVD of Dragon Ball that I have and burn it all in a video and tag Shueisha in it on all social media platforms? Do you think they would care then?
Diana is meant to bring us back to OG DB since this year will be the 40th anniversary
Bro I appreciate this video! Being left wondering has been torture.
