- We are at it again with a new way to bypass creating a Microsoft account in Windows 11. This should work on 23H2 as well as 24H2 once its released. Hopefully. If not, I will find another way. If this doesn't work, check my page to see if there's an update.

The day a Microsoft account becomes unavoidable will be the day I ditch Microsoft for good.
I'm thinking of downgrading to win10 and dual boot with kde. The only thing i really need win is for gaming.
You can never ditch them if you're a dev. for example, I code on Microsoft VS Code, with Microsoft TS on Microsoft Windows, which I push on Microsoft GitHub and host the site on Microsoft Azure
and Google too forces a Google Account for android if you wanna use it for some real work like apps

Malwarebytes 5 now requires you to create an account before entering your license key. I had to install version 4, activate it, and then update to version 5. Companies are going increasingly annoying.
Everything got annoying. Companies just want to steal money from you. Everything got cheap as hell and companies like Asus don't care about you

They want your data, and as much of it is physically possible. They don't care how hard they have to push to get it because you as a product are worth a lot to them.
Use Tronscript if you need to disinfect your computer. If you need an antivirus though, do not use Malwarebytes, do not even use an external antivirus. Windows defender and common sense are enough. For all the shit I give Microsoft for, WD is actually good now so I'll credit them for that.
You could also just switch over to Linux though.
They didn't consider there might be people out there who have no internet connection and want to set up windows. They just bricked those computers.
Microsoft did the same with Xbox One/Series S/X you can't setup the consoles without internet...plus constantly checking on your games licenses...

I do agree though that switching would be better, that's why I dual boot Linux and Windows.

Using Pro version and using the join domain route does not force to join a domain, it still a workgroup by default. Pro version of windows installs the features to be able to join a domain, regardless. The option to set up for work or school is simply there for IT professions to easily create a local admin account. It is just assumed, because its Pro version, that the intent is to join a domain once ready to, but completely optional in reality.
This is my experience. I always use that method. Just don’t join a domain.
Domain join is fine. You can create the local account and it will not affect anything.
That's what I was thinking too.
Besides, you can just edit the network after installation anyway.
I do this OOBE process every day at work when loading and setting up customer systems...it works great.

@@jwhiteker1 even at enterprise level its the same thing. I had to setup pcs for my job at university, they had windows 11 enterprise installed, and we still had to go through this stupid OOBE process and bypass the microsoft account. That's until I found out abt rufus to skip the oobe 💀

There is a requirement for an air-gapped device running in the Windows environment that never gets connected to a network, MS must keep a way of doing just that.

Thank you for keeping up with this. I was relieved at the end to find out that the near term updates will not require the work around even though I would have gone through them. How or who can we voice our irritation against this incessant push to always log in to MS to use our computers.

THANK YOU!!! The last time I did an install, a few months ago now, I did the BYPASSNRO, which had always worked for me before. But this time I got hit with the sign in screen at 08:20 in the video. I thought this meant the BYPASSNRO workaround didn't work any more, and so I capitulated and used a Microsoft account. Grrrr!!! Thank you so much for sharing the subsequent ipconfig /release workaround! Now I know for next time!

Apparently you didnt notice, but this video was about how to install Win11 without the Microsoft acc bs. Disabling telemetry is shown in other videos.
huh, it's interesting the offline method still works because not only was that always my go-to workaround once I knew of simpler ones (thanks your last vid on this subject!), but I was sure I tried that method on my version of 24H2 and found it didn't work anymore :o I'll have to try it again since I could be mistaken, but I'm so thankful for videos like this because I refuse to not only setup Windows with a Microsoft account, but I've also always refused to setup Windows online. I've always installed Windows offline and put it online once I've needed to since I don't want Microsoft downloading or changing anything externally until I'm ready for that.
It's a shame we have to do that. Back in the day we just installed windows 7 and entered our name and boom windows 7 is ready (if we ignore the drivers)

Linux mint is amazing. I too been using it. 4 years and counting. Very impressed with the mint dev team. Kudos to all involved with mint.
I think I've been Mint since 2013 or 2014. Still rocking it with my 2013 Dell 7010sff, daily driver.
@@FarmerRiddick i still can't get over the fact that mint only uses 1.5gb of ram out my 16gb of ram total. Not only that, every single boot is consistent. What i mean by this is that whenever i power up mint. It all loads on a single shot and stops on a dime the moment you see the desktop. Not a single disk and cpu activity whatsoever. Your pc is always idle.
And because the drivers are already baked right in to the linux kernel. I don't have to worry about drivers at all. Either your linux kernel supports your current hardware or it don't. No silly bsod windows drivers that just mysteriously stops working.
Also, swapping linux kernels is easy peasy. Once you find the kernel that works with your hardware, you stick with the x version kernel and forget it. Pretty much a done deal with drivers which has been the experience for me for the past 4 years on linux mint.
Like for example. Kernels 5.15.xx will work with semi modern systems or systems that are 3 +years older but may have problems with bleeding edge hardware. For those systems. You upgade the kernel to either 6.5.xx or the newest 6.8.xx These kernels will handle the latest and greatest hardware you can throw at it. I upgraded the linux kernel on my mint to 6.8 and watch your hardware come to life on boot and that's it. No stupid windows updates installing half baked drivers that ends up borking itself.
I did have to learn to be a little more self-reliant since you can bork a Linux install in spectacular ways, but for the most part it picks up at the point Microsoft lost their minds.

Just about to watch this video at the time of writing this comment, but I must say I KNEW I'd be seeing this exact video from you very soon after learning that Microsoft have blocked all the other known methods in 24H2 now 😂 Fortunately the workaround I figured out and was originally using for 22H2 before I knew of any of the methods online still works for 24H2, but it's not the best method for ease. ANYWAY, time to watch this video and see what's new!
Do you use a more complex method? Could it be automated with AI agent and put on usb stick?
What I used to do was use the slmgr command at setup and change Windows 11 Pro to Windows 11 Enterprise, since the Enterprise edition automatically allows local account creation at setup (even in 24H2) the same way that Pro did on 21H2. Then of course once I'd finished setup I changed my edition back to Pro, but it's not the best solution for Windows 11 Home users since reverting back to Home is complicated.

I work at a small computer shop, we try and setup / update computers for clients who just want to trun on the computer and use it. not force them into a MS account unless THEY want one or already have one. so.. We get all updates done and ready to walk out the door for them. SO. THIS WORKS 100% today. THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH.. CHEERS!!!
The more they force microsoft accounts on us, the more of us will switch to linux moving forward.

Now. If microsoft added value to having a microsoft account by having their own version of a family streaming service that required one and the family would be able to upload any movies they own on it and be able to set parental controls, it would have worked, because the hand would have still been cupped so to speak. But once the make it more and more mandatory with no bypass, the more folks will reject windows and microsoft in its entirety.
According to reports, despite windows 11 being the latest windows, people are still continuing to use windows 10, some people even use windows 7, fewer use XP :O
@@Snorlaxiian I'm still on 10. Windows 11 made some dumb choices I really don't care for, and then there is this continued attempt to stop us from creating a local account. I really don't understand why they keep blocking the work-arounds... Seriously these are already in the realm where normal people can't/won't do it so we are small in number anyhow, just let us do our thing ffs.
@@HVDynamo At the huge risk of being called a "conspiracy theorist", dear lord... It seems to me that Microsoft and co are operating shall we say as sociopaths/psychopaths...? They want total control over everything and coerce us into doing things as well - such as having to agree to a license agreement to use a piece of shit software that is compatible with most apps available. The NRO bypass is the way I have always done this. What gets me, is that certain updates bring up the lets make your computer better and you can't bypass it easily. I have to log out and log back in to get a way to bypass it.
I show how to disable that at the end of the video.
What worries me, is that they keep blocking every possible bypass known to the public and force everyone to use THEIR stuff instead of giving you freedom of choice.
Not having watched the video, I don't know what CyberCPU is referring to for his method, but what I typically do is disconnect from the internet before clicking 'continue'. Once it realizes it can't get to Microsoft servers, it finishes and then never comes back again, at least in my experience so far (I work at a computer store, so I see that message popping up all the time). I'm also pretty sure that under 'Sign in options' in Settings, you can disable: 'Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart', though I haven't tested this one fully.
@@Jito463 unfortunately that method doesn't work for Windows 11 anymore. However, you can still install Windows 11 with an older build and then just upgrade to the newest build without needing a Microsoft account.
The method I go over in this video you can use on the latest builds.

Myself, I gave up on MS completely. A local login that will work forever, and not just randomly break after an update, is non negotiable for me. It should be illegal for a corp to be able to remote brick my computer.
My desktop now boots Arch. Turns out I can play my crappy indie games just fine in Steam under Linux. The other program I won't be using is Ableton, but I'm thinking of learning Ardour instead.
By running Windows end users agree to the terms and conditions of the EULA. Which does include a clause where they can terminate the agreement at any time. I can't believe anyone would agree to the terms laid out. Unlike most Windows users I've actually read the EULA. They just blindly hit that I accept button and don't even bother. Not knowing what they've agreed to.

Here's how I did it: 1) Disable secure boot 2) Change the boot order to boot from USB 3) Boot from USB stick 4) Erase disk and install Linux Mint Cinnamon.. Worked like a charm!!! I never have to log in to Microsoft again.
Is bitlocker mandatory now also. I really don't want that either.
12:10 The problem is that afaik the official 24H2 will require a full install and not a feature update from a previous install.
Also some preview versions of the 24H2 installers will block Shift+F10 from showing cmd
My process went a little different than what you had. When I tried to run ipconfig release, it didn't want to do turn off my connection (it never did). I was about to give in to the evil empire, but when I went back in, it let me create a local account. Dunno if it went to the 'work or school' option or the 'personal use' as I never got that screen to make a choice. Anyway, it's on a local account now, thanks for the video. IMHO, this should be illegal for M$ to try to make you have an account. I'd be ok with paying for an OS. I remember the days of DOS releases that cost around $100, much easier and cleaner. Those days are long gone. Thanks again!
Windows 11 is the biggest advocate for Linux lol. I ran for the hills to Linux once Windows 10 EOL was announced.. aint no point using it if its gona be EOL soon.
18 months away. No rush. Time to ponder. 10 is still good. My hardware isn't acceptable for 11. Don't need new hardware otherwise. NEVER before has Windows worked so well on 10yo hardware (assuming SSD and enough RAM). But Mint seems to be the flavour of choice at the moment.

Windows 11 truly does suck. Everyone who said 23H2 was good and it was safe to upgrade was wrong. It's still a buggy frustrating mess and it's still full of stupid design decisions.
I still need Windows, so I'll go back to 10, and hope like hell that 12 doesn't suck ass.

I don't understand what difference it makes if you select set up for domain even if you plan on using the computer at home. If the system doesn't get a domain to join, or see a domain controller doesn't the system default to local policy anyway? I'm not being critical, I just don't understand your rational?
Sure, I totally agree. Just choose a domain and set up, it's that simple. Also, he advises against setting up with a domain. Why? What harm does it do? He didn't mention that!

I just bought a pair of Windows XP laptops and brought all my old games and software back to life. Now that was a great system. I don't need to go online with those so it's all good. I have MS Office Professional as well, so they can piss off with their subscription BS.

Hey, you can add that bypass as a regkey or perhaps still using AutoUnattend is easier?
Instead of going through setup twice, use the bypass at the start
If you are doing a clean install of Windows, i would suggest using AutoUnattend
For setting up an OEM install, your only choice is to use the method in the video, as the setup won't check for AutoUnattend on USB drives

if there isnt a valid reason to HAVE something, then a "purity" test on why you SHOULDNT have one is null.
Two questions: What do you think about the Windows 11 Enterprise Edition, and will that version still run Steam for games? I agree we want a local account for Microsoft Windows 11, if we choose to upgrade, (I always do Pro version) but you still need to then be signed in for Office 365 programs and Xbox game pass, and Microsoft Defender, if you use that.

The simplest way to bypass Microsoft Account: Use Linux
A "Microsoft" account is an Outlook/Hotmail account so chances are people already have one as it is, but the point is that I wouldn't want a Windows OS to use my Outlook account.
It should just be a traditional OS, that's it!

I fixed this by installing Linux. Seeing the ads in the start menu did it for me.
Ads in start menu is not new, it was in win10 too. Its also partly because people pirate windows
@@ahqsoftwares I've never seen it in 10. There was suggestions, but not straight up an ad for apps that don't even exist on my system like I got on 11. And the copy I had is actually genuine, not pirated.

Windows 10 Home/Pro and 11 are even worse in that regard.
That's why I use 10 LTSC, it's as clean as possible. No Edge browser crap or M$ Store.

PS. I'm using W10 on a laptop that Ill never update it's our main studio computer. At EOL we just going to unhook it from internet.

Thanks for providing this info. It's absolutely ridiculous that MS makes it necessary to do all this stuff. So glad I switched to Linux years ago. I do IT work for people so I have to stay up on the Windows world, but I never use it on my own computers.
It's been almost 3 years since I fully got my ass off of windows (which was in august 2021) and I'm very glad. I don't regret that decision in the slightest.
I still have a virtual machine having windows 10 to this day and age, mainly for programs that run like shit on wine. Sometimes they might not even work at all.

Can the OOBE bypass command be done before picking country and keyboard layout?
The work/school route is the same as the personal route it just doesnt do the domain join on OOBE. you have to join it after. The only difference is it removes the personalized telemetry and gives you the option "I will be domain joining" which allows you to make a local user account.

Hate really isn't a good enough reason to get someone to run Linux. But it's not a half bad start. To truly be successful running Linux one has to actually find something about Linux that they genuinely like. Something they're willing to fight to hold onto. Because Linux will test your resolve at times.

What I have done at times, is connect it to Wi-Fi and then block the device from the Wi-Fi router management software and it will then go through if you click back and next again.
It doesn't work with Windows 10 /11 Home though. I like the option with ipconfig where you release the I.P address. I wonder if it will work if you disable the network cards via CMD. Will try it sometime.

Did you find that you had to have the internet connected for the initial installer to run, before you got to the setup section?
I wonder if you can use the oobe before you start selecting country, keyboard etc... i.e. just hit shift+f10 right away when country selection screen is up.

Also, it's been working on the machines we've set up with 23H2 so far but no telling yet on 24H2, but the thing one of my coworkers has been doing instead of \bypass and ipconfig/release is:
1. Connect to the Internet with an Ethernet adapter
2. Continuing on to where we would go no.thankyou(at)gmail put that in, then
3. Hit Next and immediately pull the Ethernet cable or adapter to kill the connection before it can submit.
So what are you doing to deal with forced bitlocker and recall?

It would be nice if you did a video of how to create a version for Virtual Box and install it also. I remember doing from a video you did about creating a windows ISO (or something). But it never worked on Virtual Box. It was the most unstable windows I had.
I just go the Domain route when setting up the computer, and it seems to work just fine. Am I missing something??? Could you do a video on what might be difference when you go the domain route. When I am finished with the computer, the system is in a workgroup, not a domain, but w. a local account. Thanks
I tend to do a clean install of Windows on every (non ARM) Windows device i set up (which has the bonus of allowing me to automate the bypass, I just have it configured to do a not so unattended install, oh, and with my method it doesn't even show the network setup screen, it skips it even if no network connection is present)
Is it safe to assume that this method works for all the prior versions of W11 as well? Might as well know the one bypass to screw them all.
I do use Set up as work or school because that's the easy method of creating a local account. There's nothing about being forced to join a domain...
Up to now I just use an old installer and the Rufus hack, and let the updates take hold (behind a fire-walled router, of course).
My concern is a future update will try to force the account setup again. Is there any defense against that Microsoft dark intention?
For that matter, will the EU ever force Microsoft to drop the account requirement in Europe?
