True I am sure. I used to work with many men, about 30. We were all just great friends and cheered each other on during good times and provided a shoulder to lean on during the bad times. I was never in a relationship with any of them. We were like a big family. They even gave me a baby shower when I was pregnant with my youngest son. We spent 48 hours a week together and we ended up like family.

Yes they can! The question is “Can a man and a woman be best friends”, not if their friendship will last forever or grow into something more. A man and a woman can still be best friends at one point and then become more than friends, but that doesn’t negate the fact that they were once best friends. Again, still applies to that initial question. Also, why does everything have to be sexualized. You’re obviously not going to be attracted to everyone, so if you and your friend don’t have these feelings, y’all can still be best friends. I think people should try to be more open minded because if you fail into a mindset that men can’t be best friends with women or vice versa, you could be missing out on a truly wonderful person in your life. Not all men and women are automatically attracted to eachother like that... my best friend is a man, we’ve been friends since childhood and never crossed that line. I don’t think it’s possible. We are talking about “best” friend. The person you trust the most in the world. There is absolutely no reason for a guy to have a girl best friend when a guy would understand him better as a male. So my thought is: If the guy is not gay, then the chemistry that keeps the guy tied to the friendship and makes him willing to acknowledge the girl as his best friend will eventually turn into a sexual interest if one didn’t exist already. I meet a lot of people who I keep conversation surface level with even if I’ve known them for years. But I find, as a woman, I tend to open up emotionally to guys who I find attractive. I’m sure men are the same way.

My experiences were like Tameras. In the past they always wanted more. There was only one guy who never crossed the line, but we stopped talking after he got married (which I understood completely, especially if it was for his wife). Now I am married and we both don’t have friends of the opposite sex. .... I think 98% of the time one will always fall for the other. Yes they can. The truth is, you know if you want someone in a romantic way or not. You know if the chemistry/connection is there or not. Let's not act like that common sense switch isn't there. I agree with you on this. I have had numerous male friends over the years. One of them I was attracted to and another was attracted to me. That's two friends out of 30-40 male friends I have had. I know when I first meet them if I'm attracted to them or not. All my male friends have been my friend for years. We've never crossed that line. We discuss it up front and move along. I have just as many male friends as females. One of my close friends I introduced him to his wife. I knew she was the one the first night he met her he talked about her for two hours. I have 5 close female friends, 3 of which I have known for over 20 years, and the other two which I have known for over 30 years. I maintained platonic relationships with 4 of them. I regarded one of these individuals as my very best friend. Nine years ago I ending up meeting a woman, and our relationship progressed from co-workers to friends to dating each other to becoming engaged and ultimately, happily married. Initially, I still regarded the woman that I considered my best friend before marriage as my best friend. I saw my wife as so much more than that; highly above that level. However, I soon came to realize that my wife had actually become my very best friend during the course of our developing relationship. So, just as you said, once I got into a committed relationship, my best friend became a close friend. My wife has met all 5 of my close female friends, and three of them were able to attend our wedding ceremony. Stay Safe, Stay Strong, and Stay Well. Peace.

Yes I 100% believe this. I had such a beautiful relationship that had no sexual tension. It was so pure and valuable. I had a love for him that I have not felt never since it was a relationship that only comes once in a lifetime. Sadly he passed away 2017 and I lost a part of myself. That's the problem having these discussions with just women. Ask lots of men and they will mostly say no. Even a guy in the audience says no. And this becomes complicated when u r married. How many of us want our partner to have their best to b the opposite sex? I personally would struggle with that. Boundaries have to b in place to show respect to ur life partner. Women find it easier than men and in fact delude themselves into thinking he has no feelings. Most men will at some point think of u sexually and will even bide their time for yrs hoping to get a look in. It is not possible and here is an example. Let’s say she has a male friend and then she gets a boyfriend. If the boyfriend tells her he will not be serious if she has male friends then she will drop him like a hot potato. A friend is there no matter what and has his back. A woman changes out friends all the time. Friendship to a man is a different relationship. If the roles were reversed the woman would not want him to have female friends for the same reason.

My girlfriend has her male friends just as I have my female friends and everything is fine. Why? Because trust. That's key to any relationship: trust. me and my best friend who’s a guy have been close friends since the 6th grade and we are 20 now. We grew up together and he is like family. My mom treats him like he’s hers. It’s very possible for men and women to be close friends, I just think those true friendships are hard to come by. Many girls he’s talked to have been thrown off by the fact that his best friend is a girl even though I try to make an effort to be friends with them myself.

Yes you can! However, relationships change over time. There may be a time when one or both of you may look at the other as a potential mate or may catch feelings. This is not uncommon, and at that point you'll either decide to remain friends and preserve the relationship, or a person's feelings may be so strong for you that distance is required, especially in Tam's case like when you already have a mate.
Yes, yes and yes. This is the one part about growing that I truly didn't and still don't understand. It's like after puberty, girls and guys couldn't be just friends anymore I have dealt with male friends becoming crushes or crushing on them but when I think back if there is a spark of attraction to them, don't treat that person like a friend and then wait years later to try what you should've from jump. I have lots of male friends who are attractive but simply platonic buddies and family friends at this point and then there is another short branch who fall into a maybe category. Unfortunately my best friends are mostly women with a male best friend from high school and a cousin who I view as a brother and best friend. It can be done, if you're attracted to them or just look around one day because you're lonely, address it, it could be real or a mistake and move through it. It's possible to have a friend of the opposite sex. My thing is that i put them in the family category or family-zone because you can't get out of that zone. Call him big bro or baby bro just to mark a very clear boundary. It automatically triggers the 'incest button' whenever they think of making out or even asking you out. Works everytime. I have brothers now who i trust with my life. The friendship line can easily be blurred because we always say the greatest relationships start from friendships. So that will make it hard for either party to not develop feelings

Ewe the topic isn’t “can they be friends?” It’s more “can they be friends without one of the day enveloping feelings for the other.” You have no idea if either of those people have secret feelings for the other. I can speak for my own experiences, and in every instance of me being friends with a girl (growing up) or a woman (as an adult), either I or the female, or both of us started developing feelings/attraction for the other or had it from the beginning. Two straight adults where one is a woman and the other is a man are bound to think about each other like that at one point, and likely catch feelings especially when the two of them or one of them are not in a relationship. One of my best friends is a guy and he happens to also be my boyfriend’s literal best friend they do everything together. He is also engaged and we have hung out alone a few times with no comments or any weird vibes or feelings. I think we really just connect on a friendship level and I personally would never wanna ruin our friendship, nor either of our romantic relationships. There is absolutely no reason for a guy to have a girl best friend when a guy would understand him better as a male. My experiences were like Tameras. In the past they always wanted more. There was only one guy who never crossed the line, but we stopped talking after he got married (which I understood completely, especially if it was for his wife). Now I am married and we both don’t have friends of the opposite sex. .... I think 98% of the time one will always fall for the other. I think you can be besties with the opposite sex if it’s your cousin or a sibling or if the person is gay. Other than that, there’s a huge chance that one of them will fall for the other. 🤷🏽♀️

Yes they can. The truth is, you know if you want someone in a romantic way or not. You know if the chemistry/connection is there or not. Let's not act like that common sense switch isn't there. The boundaries and lines will be drawn and clear, they don't want you like that. They will assertively tell you no. But with humans being humans, some will try to cross that line, because they have those feelings and temptations. Those are the ones you get away from. I agree with you on this. I have had numerous male friends over the years. One of them I was attracted to and another was attracted to me. That's two friends out of 30-40 male friends I have had. I know when I first meet them if I'm attracted to them or not. All my male friends have been my friend for years. We've never crossed that line. We discuss it up front and move along. I have just as many male friends as females. One of my close friends I introduced him to his wife. I knew she was the one the first night he met her he talked about her for two hours. I have 5 close female friends, 3 of which I have known for over 20 years, and the other two which I have known for over 30 years. I maintained platonic relationships with 4 of them. I regarded one of these individuals as my very best friend. Nine years ago I ending up meeting a woman, and our relationship progressed from co-workers to friends to dating each other to becoming engaged and ultimately, happily married. Initially, I still regarded the woman that I considered my best friend before marriage as my best friend. I saw my wife as so much more than that; highly above that level. However, I soon came to realize that my wife had actually become my very best friend during the course of our developing relationship. So, just as you said, once I got into a committed relationship, my best friend became a close friend. My wife has met all 5 of my close female friends, and three of them were able to attend our wedding ceremony. Stay Safe, Stay Strong, and Stay Well. Peace.

That's the problem having these discussions with just women. Ask lots of men and they will mostly say no. Even a guy in the audience says no. And this becomes complicated when u r married. How many of us want our partner to have their best to b the opposite sex? I personally would struggle with that. Boundaries have to b in place to show respect to ur life partner. Women find it easier than men and in fact delude themselves into thinking he has no feelings. Let’s say she has a male friend and then she gets a boyfriend. If the boyfriend tells her he will not be serious if she has male friends then she will drop him like a hot potato. My best friend is a guy from high school and for years he was my wing man. He would always go to parties with me and watch me flirt with guys. I’m sure he had a crush on me by the way he treated me. But I didn’t like him like that. 7 years after we graduated high school, he came out to me that he was gay. Yes you can! However, relationships change over time. There may be a time when one or both of you may look at the other as a potential mate or may catch feelings. This is not uncommon, and at that point you'll either decide to remain friends and preserve the relationship, or a person's feelings may be so strong for you that distance is required, especially in Tam's case like when you already have a mate.

Yes, yes and yes. This is the one part about growing that I truly didn't and still don't understand. It's like after puberty, girls and guys couldn't be just friends anymore I have dealt with male friends becoming crushes or crushing on them but when I think back if there is a spark of attraction to them, don't treat that person like a friend and then wait years later to try what you should've from jump. I have lots of male friends who are attractive but simply platonic buddies and family friends at this point and then there is another short branch who fall into a maybe category. Unfortunately my best friends are mostly women with a male best friend from high school and a cousin who I view as a brother and best friend. It can be done, if you're attracted to them or just look around one day because you're lonely, address it, it could be real or a mistake and move through it. The issue is people deny, lie and bottle up something normal so we've all learned to be weary of these friendships because so many men and women can't keep it honest with themselves and others.

It's possible to have a friend of the opposite sex. My thing is that i put them in the family category or family-zone because you can't get out of that zone. I agree with you on this. I have had numerous male friends over the years. One of them I was attracted to and another was attracted to me. That's two friends out of 30-40 male friends I have had. I know when I first meet them if I'm attracted to them or not. All my male friends have been my friend for years. We've never crossed that line. We discuss it up front and move along. I have just as many male friends as females. One of my close friends I introduced him to his wife. I knew she was the one the first night he met her he talked about her for two hours. I don't buy that whole male and females can't be strictly friends. People just don't know how to control their hormones/emotions these days.

Ewe the topic isn’t “can they be friends?” It’s more “can they be friends without one of the day enveloping feelings for the other.” You have no idea if either of those people have secret feelings for the other. I can speak for my own experiences, and in every instance of me being friends with a girl (growing up) or a woman (as an adult), either I or the female, or both of us started developing feelings/attraction for the other or had it from the beginning. I can’t speak for everyone, but I’ve seen this in most coed friendships that I’ve seen as well. This is if both parties are attracted to the opposite sex of course.

One of my best friends is a guy and he happens to also be my boyfriend’s literal best friend they do everything together. He is also engaged and we have hung out alone a few times with no comments or any weird vibes or feelings.
