    I don't think people realize the amount of MENTAL LABOR that Rebeckah does for the homestead. All of those phone calls and decisions ADD UP. It's REAL WORK. You put her mom, the moves and fire, the kids and the renovation all added up and it's an insane amount of time and energy.

      Yes! There have been so many Debbie Downers over what she does lately. I am a homeschooling mom of 3 and we live on a homestead and garden and I am so weary by the end of the day, I almost sometimes wonder if it's worth it. But it always is!!! It's just that people don't see the work she puts in because she's not the one with the camera most of the time.

      Homeschooling 4 kids, 5th child in diapers; all of the older kids now involved in more activities; researching/resourcing the build and basically acting as the general contractor with her dad's help; backing up her husband when his health is down (and vice versa), plus the gardening and other chores, following up on Permaculture +, vlog/book related business needs/issues when needed and a lot more. Anyone that implies she's not working/contributing has never run/co-owned multiple businesses, let alone built a home while parenting a large family.

    So glad you are showing fixing the float (how we say horse trailer in Australia). I knew some people who borrowed a float & the horse went through the floor while they were driving, so then cost zillions at the vet, plus the heartache of the young girl who was expecting the horse. Floats should be regularly checked & stress tested.

    My husband planted the trees around our house years ago, our boys played on those very trees and we had to remove them. My brother lumbered them for us and we were able to use that wood for our new kitchen floor. We also have an island in our kitchen that was made from wood my husband and his father had made into lumber. Our home is an old farmhouse that was my husband's grandparents home. Enjoy your new home/old home.

    The drop ceiling would look so much better is you just cut some thin wood sheets into the squares and slide them up there. The lumpy dimple panels make it look so cheap!

    • @leannsmarie
      @leannsmarie 4 місяці тому +2

      If they used any panels of wood or plywood less than 3/4 thick, it would warp pretty badly in time assuming they are not fastened on all edges (maybe even the 3/4). The thinner the ply the more the warp factor. Even 1/16th is going to stand out. Plus, the thicker it is, the more it will weigh, and the rails may not support it well.
      If they used MDF with a wood veneer that might look better. Regardless, this wood route is going to give you a hard/ bright/ reflective sound surface. Noises will be amplified. It's been done before by a business I read about but the increased noise levels made them take it down and put the regular tiles instead.
      There are tiles made for the purpose that look different and that would look better, but they're also more expensive. It's their house anyway so they can put what they want and can afford.

    Yeah I figured the horse was going. Well,maybe Lillies just not ready to manage a head strong horse. I had one,a male he was particular on who would ride him. Mostly those who, the horse,knew he couldn’t buck. Some horses are like that. They need to know who is boss.

      Didn’t he say she was taking two lessons each week for five weeks so that she would be proficient at managing/riding the horse. And if it ends up with them rehoming then it’s all good. Better to rehome him now. He won’t be the first horse that has happened to. And to be honest Justin was more leaning on getting her a horse after the rebuild etc which is when it should have happened. So many people in the past comments consistently after Justin for not getting her a horse the minute she expressed the desire for one. He s damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.
