    This video was great, 2 important things I wanted to share. 1) I was able to get the deep screw out only by getting nice and long 6 inch star drivers from amazon. You don't have to but made the job way easier 2)You don't have to bend any of the metal prongs. If you put a screw driver through both and turn them to the side they will line up perfectly with just enough room to push out the trigger assembly.

    Very helpful. Thanks for showing. After I watched this I went the "hack" route and simply removed the spring that holds the red button on. The spring is intended to take up any gap between the trigger and battery switch so removing it just means a little slack in the button before it engages the battery. We'll see if this has any long term issues..

    So this video your explaining how sensitive the trigger is and to help with this you created some slack in the sensitivity by cutting or shaving down a piece? Can you please show this? I noticed that my trigger is super sensitive and the vacuum will engage even when barely touched. Also even the slightest weight on the battery also engages the vacuum because the system is attached to the battery it seems.

    Just had a V11 where I've had to replace the trigger with a 3rd party 3D printed version that is much stronger.
    Was in warranty by a month, so Dyson sent me a new, was weird since he didn't quarrel about it, just you will get it by Wednesday and have a nice day. Unit excluding battery and chamber for free, getting into the old one without a guide would have ensured its end.
    Battery cross screws for some reason just want to strip, why they didn't just use torque screw all the way through just baffles me. Also that torque screw inside the handle and bending those power cables to get the motor out annoyed me.
    They said recylce my old one, a deep clean, new trigger, chamber and battery and it's like new. Definitely investing in some spare triggers.

    • @jd7448
      @jd7448  3 роки тому +1

      Appreciate your feedback and input! Unfortunately my V11 was out of warranty. I agree, the screw slots/plastic are not robust and they strip easily. Who 3D printed the trigger for you?

    • @Disanium
      @Disanium 3 роки тому

      @@jd7448 your welcome, not a topic I was aware of until I got hit with the broken trigger, found a seller on eBay doing 3D printed triggers and they are pretty good. 3Dprintni is the name of the seller.
      I'm finding that a lot of the trigger fails just before or after the warranty. Even some refurbs have this issue as many refurbishers won't change or even stress test triggers that are in them; they offer there own warranty though so that offsets it. Purchased spares for future replacements, as my animal will soon follow the same fate and the new unit also down the line will eventually fail.

    • @jd7448
      @jd7448  3 роки тому

      Shannon, before you try any complex tear down like this video ... you can try something simple ... 1. remove the battery pack by taking out the screws that secure it 2. take a look at the black plunger on the battery (as I show in the video) 3. Use a light to peek inside the bottom of the handle to see how the red trigger plunger and spring are working ..... possibly the trigger popped off the latches that it is clamped on to, or it may be broken.

    • @jd7448
      @jd7448  4 роки тому

      hi .. I only assume that one or both of the wires pulled out? You will need some magnifier loupes and examine the connector. Many times this micro connects crimp down on the wires, it then is. matter of find out how the wires fit back into the connector and crimp them down again.

      Have you removed the battery, just take out the screw that hold the battery into the handle. You will then be able to determine if it's the plunger lever in the battery, or it's the plunger that is in the handle.

    • @jd7448
      @jd7448  3 роки тому

      Definitely, they make their products more and more integrated so that most all repairs you have to send it to them. The change they made to the battery pack is very clever in that the trigger actuator is actually built into the battery, and the battery is sealed, to the point where you are forced to buy a new battery whenever the old one dies out.

      My first thought exactly. All V11 units are less than 2 years old, so this is (was!) clearly still under warranty and a simple phone call would have got a brand new unit out. It would have been interesting to see the original problem before modification or any evidence of how to reproduce it from scratch to confirm a genuine cause. Statistically rare either way. At least the vacuums favoured by those that criticise Dyson cleaners never have similar issues with switches... oh ua-cam.com/video/4uEHlRvBi94/v-deo.html

    • @jd7448
      @jd7448  4 роки тому

      I've had several Dyson vacs in the past ... I know they are of high quality and very modular. This was my reason for buying a heavily discounted V11 on Amazon Prime. I believe I paid around $300 ... and I gambled if there was anything defective I could troubleshoot and fix it. As you mention, Dyson would have charged me probably a pretty penny to do a simple repair. Therefore ... it is videos like this, on UA-cam, that have helped me repair things, so I decided to give back and make this one.
