He's like my cosmic grandpa'... love him.
I love hearing him tell these stories. It's so clear how passionate he was about music. His voice would've been perfect for voice over narrations or a radio show. RIP, Ray.
You're a really cool cat, Mr. Manzarek.
Imagine how many moms encouraged their kids to stop whatever they were doing because Elvis appeared for the first time on tv?
Seemed like he was a down to earth guy. He will be missed
Not down, up, rememeber not to touch the earth
He was a natural! He could play anything! Greatest Organ player ever! Thanks for the incredible music!
RIP Ray Manzerak
Can't get enough of this....
Rip Ray Manzarek, what a genius
I could listen to Ray tell music stories forever.
I love listening to thiis guy!
Dude he sang “Mystery Train” and thought I couldn’t love him anymore.
Such a beautiful spirit, I hope he’s hanging out with Jim banging out some new hits.
RIP Ray, thanks for everything
R.I-P- MASTER
I was lucky to hear him live in Canada....he was a Genius..
Much Love for Mr Manzarek
Jim & Ray = Legendary Bromance🤝
Ray is such a kind soul
Miss the likes of you Ray I love watching this history lesson in music love it love it
Elvis never did Mystery Train on the Dorsey show though...memory is a difficult concept.
Artistic license
wish i can bring him back in this studio so i can sit with him with a good cup of Coffee and listen this gentleman story for the whole day
We miss you Ray!!!
He was a blessing to this earth.. So was Jim Morrison. There's this magic in The Doors music that I've never heard it before. They were really something else
Elvis was not no king...he was a copy cat king maybe say that, we all know little Richard and chuck berry were the originators of real rock and roll.
You got that right..chuck it it..period.
Fucking right!!!!
“Chuck! Chuck, it’s Marvin. Your cousin, Marvin Berry. You know that new sound you’re looking for? Well, listen to this!”
He had looks, could move etc....but most of all he had a tremendous voice with tremendous range. You cannot simply call him a copy cat---many would succeed if that was the ingredient of greatness--it is not.
@@bron7459 Can't remember exactly where I got this, but some musicologist put forward strong musical parallels between blues and traditional celtic music. And the theory goes that the African slaves were hanging out with the Irish workers who had brought their instruments... So basically, blues was born of africans learning to play their folk songs on european instruments being taught to them by Irishmen... makes total sense!!
Where Is the whole video …..and not this clip ******
Glad to see he still has a Vox continental--Hey Ray ever listen to Alan Price-?
my inspiration.....ray manzarek.....lee michaels.....booker t......the funk brothers.....let me loose in a room full of instruments and a stereo churnin out the grooves I worship and I'm a happy camper....thank you ray.....music is my church.....
What is that keyboard on top? Is that what you call a "bass box"? Are those still manufactured? I have a bad left arm and can't play bass guitar anymore, so I'm looking for a bassy alternative I can play with one hand.
It's called a Fender Rhodes bass piano, made by the same people who made the Fender Rhodes electric stage pianos. Ray also played one of those with the bass piano on Riders on the Storm.
They were made in the 60's and 70's. I've seen them on
Ebay.
too bad in all these videos the bass isn’t loud enough
I love listening to Ray talk
.......Grand Master Manzarek !
