Bathory is a swedish black metal and viking metal (folk metal) band. This album is still in black metal mode with harsh black metal vocal style (not growls, growls are death metal style vocals) and it's a very thrash metal influenced album just like you pointed out at the end of the video. The next album is already an viking metal album with clean vocals. And Bathory is one of the first black metal bands alongside with Celtic Frost (which is also one of the first death metal bands) and Venom (very influencal, probably the first thrash metal, death metal, black metal and full on speed metal band ever, without Venom there wouldn't be extreme metal music; extreme metal is death metal, black metal, grindcore and many more subgenres).
In fact, Bathory was never really black metal. The term didn't even exist when Quorthon started making music. But it was the spiritual forefather of black metal. But blood, fire, death can no longer be counted among them, because the sound has changed clearly differentiated from the first albums and probably belonged more in the death metal corner. Bathory's sound then changed much further from the black and death scene and then went extremely into the Nordic Viking folk stuff. Because of everything that Bathory, or Quorthon (Bathory was a one-man band most of the time) did for the Metal scene back then all by himself, made him a true legend!
The song Blood Fire and Death itself is a masterpiece. I am not a huge Black Metal fan but there is just something about Bathory that always grabs me.
