- I found this red oak rocking chair thrown away on the side of the road. It looked to have been kept outdoors most of its life. The connections were lose and some parts were broken, but it was mostly cosmetic. I took it home and refinished all surfaces and glued shut all the joints. That’s all it takes! Hope you enjoy.

Original owner probably died while sitting in that chair. So if you get a chill/goosebumps in the middle of a hot summer day with no breeze/wind you know whats up.

That looks like the rocking chair I’ve always been looking for, yet never found. What a great find. Just needs a little tlc, but not too much. It’s still got good bones to it. When it’s finished, you still want the memories to show.

Amir, very impressed with your work and channel. Your skill with the dowels was masterful. Thank you. Wondering if dowels added after glue dried would have held as well as the gold screws? It would have added a day or two, however.
What do you mean?
When Amir put the gold screws in to hold pieces in I wonder if he would have allowed the glue to dry , then drilled a hole to fill in with a dowel. That way you wouldn’t have unsightly mechanical fasteners, it would be solid wood.

You might want to be careful doing what you did at 5:28 in the future. I noticed that the sander moving back and fourth produces a strobe-like effect.

Did you consider applying penetrating epoxy to seal and strengthen the wood? I’ve seen this tip elsewhere. Might not apply if the chair stays indoors, but if exposed to the weather?
